Works when it wants to
This app is “suppose” to control my gate using the cell gate service which costs approximately $39 dollars per month. When this app works it is a huge asset. Unfortunately the app doesn’t connect to my gate except when it wants to which is about half of the time. I use a LiftMaster opener which is terrific. My problem lies with this app communicating with the cell gate hardware. As of now, I open the app and hit the open tab and it tells me on my screen that that gate is already open..it’s not so I can’t use this app. I’ll probably terminate my contract with Cellgate and seek another option and vendor

Does not always work correctly
This entire system was installed 2 1/2 years ago and I’ve been slowly trying to speed it up for visitor gate entry. The camera photos are very grainy and sometimes not clear. when the visitor arrives at the gate and hits the call button, my phone rings and I have to press a button to connect. Once I connect to speak, I have to press another button to open the gate, which does not always open. so then I have to go to the Cellgate app open it, and then open the gate. All the time hoping that I don’t lose cell service or not really knowing if the gate did open for the visitor. I literally have to open up my nest cameras to focus on the gate to see if it opened or not.
I have tried to streamline some of the features by not using them.
The gate operations definitely are disappointing at times.
It would be nice to have substantial APP updates to consolidate numerous functions of the CellGATE operations. So far all my notifications seem to be functioning properly.

Awfully clunky for such an important app
I like the idea of a digitally connected gate and all that comes with it: a cell phone app, video conference, and the ability to create QR codes for visitors. All these functions work well when the app connects but it’s the connecting part that’s clunky.
When someone calls me, my cell phone tries to open the app like a call, so I swipe to accept the call. Then it tries to open the Cellgate app, which needs my finger print or face recognition all the while the person at the gate is waiting.
Even when the biometric is complete and I get into the call, it may or may not time out. All the while the person at the gate is still waiting.
I’ve combated this by manually opening the gate to let the person in, but now I’ve negated all the good things this app could have done.
I’m hoping Cellgate takes some time to really update this app and make it as good as it could be.

Good reason for low rating
The problem here is how the company has setup functionality between customer and users, they want to be hands off if their support so they put weight of responsibility on the customer property management company, which in all likelihood has no understanding of how the system works so when there’s an issue, they are not able to resolve it themselves and so therefore not provide a good service to the end user of the app and product, honestly I don’t know what good comes out of Carrollton except football, btw these 5 star reviews are fact reviews or paid for

How is there no scheduler?!
Literally the main thing a gate needs after a on demand opener is a scheduler. It’s crazy that not only did they roll this out without a scheduled open/close but that years later they still don’t have it. I spent a ton of money on a new gate that somehow makes my life tougher. 7 days a week I have to wake up to hold open the gate for the day. Which makes me an unpaid employee of a under developed gate company. CellGate literally makes me angry every single day. And then the hold open is only for full hours so I can’t even schedule the gate to close at the same time each night.
Buy this product if your life isn’t difficult enough as it is. Because the only thing CellGate schedules is your need to open it every morning. #NoDaysOff

Disappointment
We spent over a thousand dollars, almost two to replace our old gate system with Cellgate. We updated everything and added a new cell connection. We pay for services monthly and yet this gate system has constant problems. It doesn’t close at night or open randomly. It has constant failure connection tons and just doesn't operate as advertised or promised. Is it an app issue or a product issue. We just don’t care anymore. It is an issue. We pay for the installers to come out. We pay for the service and it works when it wants to. As a small ranch the gates need to close. Hearing that horses are loose bcs our gate didn’t shut is a problem. Cameras going off in the middle of the night bcs a curios driver is in our driveway is not security. Pulling up to your gate and clicking on the app to open the gate and it can’t connect is a problem. Something needs to be fixed.

Gated Neighborhood Access
We have installed many of these systems.
The larger units, with touch screen for gated neighborhoods.
We have been using these for over 5 years.
The interface is simple, the app has performed very well. New beefed up tech support has been super helpful with user questions.
The cell reception beats out everybody else in class. Awesome for communities with card readers and EZTag (trascor) readers.
Highly recommend these beautiful bright telephone entries for apartments and HOAs!!!
Sooo much better than the old stainless Casio calculator looking units we replace.
Use them, you will be absolutely pleased!

Could be much better
App works ok, but could be much better. Please consider:
1) reducing the number of clicks it takes to open a gate. Right now there is at least one unnecessary click in my experience, but two clicks could be removed by just having an open gate button right in the dashboard.
2) would be great to enable Shortcuts actions inside the app on iOS - so we can build shortcuts and make this better. Right now the best we can do is open the app via the action button on iPhone15 pro

iPhone app works fine. But need a Watch app
The iPhone app works ok. Seems to work better when I have full strength WiFi but when it’s weak, it doesn’t automatically shift to cellular connection. I often have to turn off WiFi and then the app will work fine.
Plus it would be great to have a Apple Watch companion app. This would be very convenient.

Does not function properly
The app does not open when the phone rings so you either need to fumble through answering the phone and trying to open and use the app while someone is waiting at the gate, or just use the keypad on your phone to open the gate, defeating the purpose of the app. It is highly annoying to need to press 2 separate numbers in 2 steps to open the gate instead of just answering and pressing one number. It also takes a very long time for the phone to actually ring from the front gate when someone requests entry. They hear a tone several times while waiting before the phone actually rings. Our HOA wasted a bunch of money on this system that inevitably will need to be replaced with something functional. Don’t make the same mistake.
