  • Great game

I enjoy Upwords very much and I'm glad I paid to remove ads many years ago. So why give 3 stars? Because ever since Glow was added (I love it!) I've requested that it stay on until you move a letter to change the word you created. It goes off so fast I have to click multiple times to check whether all the words I'm trying to make at once are correct. Also, as others have mentioned, we need to be able to exchange at least 2 letters without a penalty. I often get 6 or even 7 consonants for multiple turns. Or the opposite, 6 vowels such as UUU OOI. The game isn't fun at that point. One other thing I need fixed... when I click daily to get the tokens the dropdown shows up even if I have 20 hours to wait. It makes me think I've claimed it even though it's not even close. Then happens again and again. Please hold the dropdown until it's an actual confirmation.

  • Very interesting

If you’re going to tweak a classic game how about 8 letters or 9? All Scrabble variants use the same board and number of letters.

Even the easiest computer opponent plays the most outrageous, unfamiliar and useless words. They ARE humorous I will admit but the competition is frustratingly stiff. I have found that if you toss out random letters you’re bound to get lucky once in a while. The stacking keeps my attention though

  • Fun board game with Weak app execution

This developer has the rights to what is a very fun board game in person. Best part about playing in person is you can use a real dictionary that real humans might employ. A real dictionary that would have words like bling. Or fart. The dictionary is made by somebody like an apostolic evangelical sharia word freak who doesn't use American English. It's been brought to the developers' attention on repeated occasions that it is a stunted word list. Gameplay is OK. Design is severely lacking. The interface is dead boring. But as long as this dev holds the development rights to the board game it's what we've got for this particular gameplay. Again you will play normal regular words that will be rejected by this word list. And we're not even talking extreme slang. Just try it. You will be disappointed. But if you like the game well enough you'll learn to work with the weak interpretation of what is a fun board game. Oh ads? Super ridiculous redundant terrible interruptive and really really awful constant annoying ads
Did I mention that it's super weak?
Yep: but it is worth bringing to your attention again and again how dead boring the design is and how truly truly bad the word list is.

  • A challenging game

And the reason I’d like upwards is because of it challenge. A crossword player normally. But then I found upwotds and it doubled my pleasure of playing the game. The fact that you get to make your own words without clues is very intriguing to me. The fact that you can build on words that are already set is also a challenge. This game is good for keeping your brain moving and especially an elderly person like me who doesn’t want to lose too many brain cells

  • Been playing since 2014

I love this game. I liked Scrabble but a friend years ago introduced me to Upwords, the board game version, so I knew what it was about. It took a bit for me to grow into the player I am now. I learned a lot about myself playing with others. My strengths, my weaknesses. I have never lost interest in the (almost) daily playing. It never gets old or tedious. I simply love the challenge and the friendships I’ve made with other players.

  • A dimension better than scrabble… literally

First, we (my husband and I) have been playing this game for a few years now. We love it. We also own the physical game, but somehow, that never comes out of the closet, LOL. So the game is great and the format is great.

What’s BETTER than great is the support. We had an issue recently with Facebook logins. When I sent a very short email to support, I got a personalized reply that my problem had been FIXED in LESS THAN 40 MINUTES. That’s unheard of. I couldn’t be more pleased.

  • Fun game, but…

Upwards is a fun game to play. But this iteration has issues that are somewhat troublesome. There is no way that the tiles are distributed randomly. I am dealt the Q, Z, J, and X in nearly every game. if I receive one of those early in the game, with great certainty, I know I will get the rest of them throughout that match.

Further, on the stats analysis of player performance, it is disturbing to receive five points after a win, and yet be hit with a 47 point reduction in the statistical ranking, from one loss. And that is even after winning nine of the 10 previous matches. Clearly, there are some aspects of the game that are just not fair.

  • I'm enjoying the updates!

There was an update to the game within the last few days and I just wanted to let the developers know how much I appreciate that in-valid words turn red as you place them. I like it better than the old method, where you didn't know until after you submitted - it's very helpful. Thank you!
  • Such a great game

This is a well designed version of the classic board game that I play almost daily.

I beg that this software company purchase the rights to the standard Scrabble game and make a good version of that game. Or make a copycat version of standard Scrabble.

But most of all, this game is excellent! You can play varying skill levels against a computer opponent or online too.
