Great Replacement for the Old Scrabble Game
When you just want to enjoy a word game, just a simple word game to work your brain, and sometimes the stress of the day, this is it. Not everyone likes or wants HD graphics, things going on with the page that distracts from the actual game or playing various people on SM; at least let there be an option. The ads have worsened if you can believe it
For a while now we’ve had to endure constant ads while taking a turn with full screen timed ads in between EVERY turn. But now there are full screen timed video ads in between EVERY turn each with LOUD audio. You have to wait at least 8 to 10 seconds for each video ad (the “5 second “ countdown doesn’t start right away). This, along with the app not complying with iOS location services privacy controls, make this the most expensive app in terms of private user data costs that I’ve encounteredShow lesssfinley_nh

If you like word games and are determined to learn a weird vocabulary, do UPWORDS! i am hooked! Sometimes I beat HAL when I don’t get all consonants. Where are the tournaments O Found competition online Now I can stay up all night Ruin my health And have so much fun! Helen The only occasional issue is that I can add a letter, get a potential score, then add two and get a lower score! Explain that!
How about giving us the letter board available and the number of and kinds of letters; also your scoring system is a mystery since many times I add a letter to a word and the score goes down. That’s very odd.
Why are you soliciting a review from me when you have this one already?
Stop asking for reviews! Stop removing my scores. I want to keep my records!
How about some details on your game like how many letters are there and how many of each letter, a used letter board for starters.Show lessfridgidwinter

It's possible to add a letter and get a lower score. Check out the help "how to play" section for all the rules. Words that are just 1 tile high for all the letters count as double points.. so it's possible to extend a word, keeping it one tile high, then adding a letter stacked on one of the letters and the score will drop.. that's because you no longer get double points for that word. It's part of the strategy of upwords!I love this game!
I’ve been playing this game for years and this is the best app! I paid the small fee to get the version that is ad free and I must say that that was money well spent. The game is a great way to exercise your brain. I play against the computer and it’s nice to be able to choose the player who matches my skill level. I highly recommend this game!Show lessCCHD 9146
Super fun but UI issues
Love the game and I’ve become addicted! Definitely 5 stars on that. However, the user interface leaves much to be desired. Specifically super frustrating how the board will automatically zoom in and move around. Also, you have to do “recall” and start over to see the points on a possible move rather than the points updating with each letter placement/movement. Hoping these annoyances will get fixed.Show lessJaney97225
Some issues (still very fun)
1. I wish I could just see how many tiles my opponent has left at the end of the game. You would be able to see this during an in-person match. 2. Mostly cool people but also some real babies on here who won't play the very last turn and make you wait for days or whine in chat.fiercey13
Worst Upwords game ever!
I have been playing Scrabble and Upwords for over 50 years. Am excellent speller and have an extensive vocabulary because Mother gave my 7 siblings and I these games to teach us to spell and build our vocabulary. This version of Upwords is not legal or honest in any sense of what Upwords used to stand for. It uses words that are not in Webster’s dictionary, but does not allow the player to use simple words that are in Webster’s. Also I have played rounds in which I rarely drew a vowel. Not sure what kind of satisfaction that gives the creator, but people play games for fun. If one can’t win occasionally, your game will be deleted...Show lessjedamz

We use a word list used for scrabble tournaments called "TWL06". It does have a lot of obscure words in addition to common ones. There are many words in the english language that aren't common but valid for tournament play. The letter mix is random and it's just bad luck of the draw if you don't get a vowel very often. We randomize it once and each player draws from the end of the random letter list.. so depending on how many letters each person draws it further randomizes which letter you get.This game could be so good…

What do you think of a game that has a dictionary that is so hobbled you can barely play words that are in common use let alone real words that adults with intellect use?
What do you think of gameplay that is so excruciatingly slow that you can’t get onto the next board?
I find it sad that this fantastic concept is licensed to someone who is doing such a mediocre job of bringing it to the App Store. Rudell: you could find a better rep for your game. Instead of concentrating on smooth gameplay and improved dictionary‘s they have now introduced bender the robot style cartoon rip offs of Futurama. These avatars do not render succinctly and accurately across the game play area. And they have generally goofed up downloads overall. I will continue to play this game because it is what we have for this type of tile placement… But it is not a stellar game. Don’t expect too much and you won’t be disappointed. But really developers: could you make it so that your support link works? Email link? Simple stuff…Show lessmaphead

I have been enjoying Upwords with several friends. A few days ago while I was playing, the game froze to where I could no longer play. How can I get back the friends I had? When I tried to use my nickname or my friends, the message was that name is already used.jellyvon
