  • Great board game. Evil, impossible AI needs nerfing

First: I love the physical board version of Upwords. I thought this would be a great option for playing while socially distant. It is.

BUT for those of us looking for a little solo play, it suuuuuucks. The AI will consistently play “legal”2-letter words whenever it can, locking up all kinds of space and making “normal” play impossible. The easiest way to solve this would be an option (at least for the AI, if not in normal play) to disallow 2-letter words.

An option to change the maximum stack height would be nice, too.

  • Challenging your Mind

This game is always a great way to learn new words . You are building words on top of words with new ways to build words with
In words. It is nice if you put a word in and it is not a word- you do not lose a turn. You do not get discouraged. I am enjoying this game with three of my friends. You can play with different players at the same time as long as you connect with them. Thank you.

  • Updated Version

The updated version still needs some tweets. It takes too long to reload after a word that is not played, the sound does not always work. Even so, I enjoy this game immensely.
  • GREAT GAME!

Never would believe the words that work ... and don’t work! Should be limited to maybe 3 tries as for trying to see what letter might work. I play people from all parts of the world. Very interesting. Had to get used to the idea that I probably wasn’t going to play someone at one sitting.
  • Exhilarating

I am enjoying this app so much. It’s challenging and different each time. I play the computer opponent and the different levels keep it challenging or easy. It’s a fair app as you aren’t forced to buy purchases to use it or get further in the game. It’s a personal choice to purchase hints, etc, but not a necessity. The upgrade without ads was the only purchase I made and well worth it.

As an older adult, it’s bringing me enjoyment and keeping my mind sharp.

I had the board game 35 years ago and played it with my stepdaughter. To this day she attributes Upwards for her stellar spelling ability as well as limitless vocabulary that’s helped immensely as an adult w/her career and also throughout her school years. How important this game shaped her little mind at the time wasn’t even a thought but these fun word games do have that impact.

But all that aside, it’s great fun! And I love not having to add the points! It’s all automatic. No cheating, no dictionaries to see if it’s spelled right or if it’s a real word, it automatically does it for you. Love it, it’s my favorite word game!

  • The bugs won

Great game, but it no longer works in landscape mode so I cannot use it with my current iPad case. I will uninstall and hope they fix this problem. Otherwise, it’s addictive and challenging. Update: I upgraded to current IOS and now the game doesn’t work at all. Too bad, because it was a good game.

  • Fun game but flawed

I enjoy UpwordsLite and play daily but there are still bugs that need fixing. For one thing the online game does not allow you simply to add an S to conjugate a verb when that also forms a plural. It’s correct that you cannot simply add an S to form a plural but the actual game does allow adding an S to conjugate, even if that happens to make a plural also. Moreover, the game disallows some perfectly good Scrabble words.

  • Update

This last update on June 27th wrecked my board on my IPad The play board is so tiny i can hardly read it and the bottom buttons, the shuffle , submit, area takes up over half my screen! not sure what happened, but can not play the game!
  • Keep me honest

This is a fabulous game. There are no cheat sheets and it keeps you hooked and alert. It’s also a very interesting game and it will keep your brain and mind active.
Be careful not to let it get to you, when you’re not receiving the letters you need to score big. Always remember, it’s a game and it won’t matter down the line how many times you won or lost. It’s stimulating and it’s fun. ENJOY

  • Works well!

I’ve used this for a number of years, playing friends and family. I like that the game status is stored “in the cloud” and I can play a game from either my ipad or iphone, whatever is handy at the time.

A minor annoyance is if you’re in the middle of writing a text chat and someone plays a move, then whatever you typed is erased.
