  • Ads will NOT close in updated version.

Loved this game until last update. Now about 70% of ads for games will not @#$&*%+ close. Exiting and reopening doesn’t help. Only restarting phone works. If not resolved shortly, Upwords will be where Scrabble went after they screwed it up by dummying it down—off my phone,
  • Great game but disaster dictionary!

If you’re trying to lure scrabble fans to play this, you will have trouble selling them the dictionary! It would be much better if you give players their choice of dictionaries.

I do like the game strategy and setup though. It’s different and challenging! And, the computer players are fun! I’m a fair scrabble player and I play with Eliot.

  • Missing words

I find that many words that are in the Merriam Webster dictionary are considered invalid in this game. Today, I entered the word "acai" and was told that it was invalid. I have kept a list of other valid words that are not recognized by this game. Please tell me what dictionary you are using as the athority.

  • OK

UW is a lot of fun and I enjoy playing it.....it's a nice way to unwind and relax.

But I am frustrated I can no longer see how many times I have won, lost and tied in my games with others. I have sent many emails to the help link but no one ever gets back to me....🙁

Phenomenal challenging game, a great brain teaser; however the game allows for the computer to cheat. An S is not allowed. I played Sate, they played sates. Same word and the computer says when you think you can use the S, “You Simply Cannot Put An S At The End Of A Word.” What’s good for the goose should be good for the gander. I will still play the game because of my superlatives but I wish they’d make it fair for human and computer.

  • Computer player uses fake words

About 30% of the time I look up a word the computer player uses, it doesn’t appear in the Merriam Webster dictionary app. Sure, maybe it’s a word in some dictionary, but it’s often impossible to play against. This is play versus “Eve,” the second level. Higher levels? Forget it. This gets old after a while.

  • Lockdown fun!

My friend is locked down in a nursing home during the Covid pandemic. We’ve been playing everyday. Sometimes several times a day! It has only had a couple glitches that are fixed by closing and reopening the app. Fun and convenient during these times.
  • Wish they’d have option for standard words!

Been playing Upwords as a board game for many many years. Was so excited to find the app for my phone. However, I so wish you could opt for standard word play. The opponents using what I consider nonsense words (Scrabble words) ruins the game for traditional players like me. Hope the app maker can offer this as an option for better play.

  • Glitches since iOS upgrade/Word List

This has been a long-time fav until recent iOS upgrade. At first, my friend and I could get past the freezes by rebooting or reinstalling the app. Now that doesn’t even work. Fix the game, and we will gladly resume playing.

UPDATE: Thanks for the fix! Awesome!
Now, how do we add or remove words to the acceptable word list? Who decides? Some words that are in Webster and American Heritage are routinely rejected. Occasionally, I come across a word that is in neither of those dictionaries that’s accepted. What gives? And how can we, the players, help?

These issues should be resolved in the latest version. Make sure you're up to date and mail support if you're still having issues and we can work through them.
  • Pay to skip commercials!!

Fun game to play with people who live at a distance or, for example, during a pandemic when you can’t go to your neighbor’s house for the real game. You can play up to 4 in person, just pass the iPad (it didn’t show up well on my iPhone 6) or invite one person remotely to play. Virtually playing worked well because I could pair up and easily work with another person if the other “one player” were in a different house or state. I really, really, really appreciate the option of paying for the app and not suffering through the commercials but others can choose to watch the commercials. Thanks!
