  • Great app!!

I love this app so much. My husband and I were always wondering what the different plants were that we saw on our walks. This app is the answer!
  • Future

Reliable now and getting better quickly. Flexible, friendly and collegiate.
Much more accurate than the "paid” app i use as alternative. Plantsnap
  • Looks useful

Initial observations are that this App will be useful. Correctly identified an Australian rainforest native from single flower and a potentially invasive environmental weed from single pic of leaves w/ fruits.

Seems to have problem with my location - thinks I’m in New Caledonia. At least that’s the nearest Flora Category offered. Perhaps it doesn’t yet have significant database of Australian native plant reports.

  • Not applicable to my flora

I’m in Australia. It doesn’t include my local flora - 24k species excluded! Using the suggested automatic selection of flora by GPS it suggests that the flora of New Caledonia is the most appropriate to me. Great. Thats 3270 species 74% of which are only found on New Caledonia. That will be great when I go there.

If you are in: New Zealand, New Guinea, India, China, Southern Africa, Southern South America or basically anywhere outside French territory you will have the same problem. You’re not included and no it doesn’t tell you this before getting you to sign ip to an account.

You can use World Flora (presumably the sum of French territories) which includes 35k species - around 8% of described species.

I’ll give this a whorl - maybe it will work for cosmopolitan weeds. If not, it’s a dud.

  • Great App for Identification

This is a wonderful app for all types of flowers and foliage both for wildflowers and flowerbeds. For walking in the woods or just around the neighborhood, this is easy to use and filled with the information you’re looking for.
Two years later I’m still very happy using this app for identifying plants, I’ve tried a few other apps and was absolutely amazed at how unsure and inaccurate they were at identifying the simplest of plants. There were also no other pictures from others to compare to or even anything other than one choice of what they thought it might be. Example: I took a picture of my 50+ yo variegated snake plant and got this with no picture. “Unsure 6% odds it may be a cactus.”
No thanks , I’ll stick with what works, this app is GREAT!

  • Poor location ID

This app seems good at identifying plants but it can only locate me in New Caledonia not New Zealand!
  • Possibly one of the best apps for the budding gardener or botanist

Really love this app, the fact that it is pretty accurate with the results, it’s easy to use and free. So can’t complain here.
  • So easy to use

    Works
  • Love this!

Best plant identifier app I have used and I have tried them all! I only wish there was a section for fungi/mushrooms but I realize those are kind of tricky. This app has been so amazingly useful for our garden (yes we have made a garden in central Arizona, small and took two years to sort of figure it out lol) and yard and desert flora and Fauna.

  • This App has never let me down.

I’ve had six or eight plant ID apps and this is still my favourite. It has never let me down whether it’s something that the wind or birds have dropped into my garden, or the flowers in a lovingly created bouquet for my darling.

What might have ended up discarded as a weed has found its place in a salad or stir fry. What some might have eaten has been confirmed as a poisonous plant somewhat similar to an edible.

Knowing the scientific and common names of particular flowers has allowed me to attach social meaning to a gift of love.

It’s a pleasure to be able to share information from, and with, so many others around the world too.
