  • Basic but that's what you pay for

Let's get this straight. Backblaze is a backup service, not a sync service. This app lets you browse your backup and open specific files which is more than you really even need for a backup service. Even so, the app does this really well and for that it deserves 5 stars.
  • Great service but the app is a bit lacking

I've been using Backblaze for about six months now and I'm enjoying not having to worry about backup anymore. This app is very simple. This is a good thing in some ways – I'm glad they didn't cram in millions of features. However, three things would convince me to give it 5-stars: iPad support, passcode, and a toggle to hide hidden files.

  • Looking good for the iPhone but not the iPad Air

Started using this yesterday and working really week, backing up is straight forward. I downloaded the app onto my iPhone 5S and signed in, up it came and all is fine. I haven’t tried recovering a file yet, but can’t see why it will be a problem. I can’t see the app for the iPad Air, although it says it is compatible?

  • Great, but needs more functionality

First of all, I love Backblaze's service, it's awesome!
The app is pretty neat to, but I would really appreciate the ability to send files without the need to preview them, since I can't access files that iPhone does not preview, like .indd or .ai.
I believe it's a matter of a simple update, but until now, great job guys!

  • Great service. Weak App.

I really like the Backblaze service, but the app is terribly limited in at least two ways that impact it's usability for me:

    1. The app is incredibly reluctant to grab updated summary information from the Backblaze servers. I have a Mac Mini with a large external drive that's still trying to finish the initial upload after a couple months. Consequently, while away from home on business I like to pull up the app to check my upload process (not to mention occasionally retrieve files). Unfortunately, I find the upload total rarely updates. After a week or so of refreshing the app or killing the app using the multitasking/app-switcher/app-killer function then re-starting the app. I'll finally see a new total and it'll be a couple dozen more gigabytes. Clearly the uploads continue but the app just isn't gathering/reporting it well at all.

    2. The second is short and sweet. I don't believe there should be a bandwith cap on downloadable files. Is there a necessary or unavoidable technological limitation causing this? If it's just a proprietary business decision, drop it. More often than not I've needed a file on mobile while on the road yet been unable to access it for download because it's size is reportedly too large.

  • Files, Forms, Photos, Docs on the go

I may or may not be your typical and end-user. Utilizing a PC laptop, iMac desktop, & iPhone at any given time. I'm constantly either swapping files up into a cloud or deciding where each file needs to live long term.

With Backblaze I'm so happy everything is getting backed up as it should knowing that evil is out there patiently waiting to crash my stuff.

The Backblaze app is fantastic, I love it that I could be on the go and pull some random file down for immediate use or reference. It's like having everything on your computer(s)....available no matter where you are. That convenience alone is worth $50 a year!!

  • Only 1 Month Back??

I've been using Backblaze now for about a year yet this app will only let me see files that were backed up, up to only a month ago? What gives? Kinda useless app if I cannot browse my entire backup. Please fix. Thanks!
-Edit: Turns out that I just needed to be patient viewing my files/folders. Checked again the next morning and I could browse my entire backup. To get 5 stars from me, the app would need to have the ability to download entire folders (not just a file at a time) and a version for the iPad would also be nice.

  • Works like a charm

The interface is very simple and effective. It would be awesome to be able to search for a file name, though. I'm under the impression that browsing is faster than the web UI.
  • Elegant and simple to use

A great addition for anyone using Backblaze to backup their data. Simple to access and easy to navigate through to any of your files. I'm not sure why some are reporting negative experiences with this app - it worked first time for me!
  • Good. Email-able download links would make it great

Overall, I think it's actually pretty good for a 1.0. Many of the other reviews have touched on some obvious areas of improvement. I would really love to see functionality that allows you to email a link to someone to download a file or folder. I know that's more of a dropbox thing and not so much of a backup thing, but I'd find it extremely helpful as I could avoid having both.
