This app doesn’t work.
I’ve wasted many hours over many weeks to figure out how this works. After at least three phone calls to support, no one could explain to me the correct procedure to get recirculation working on a schedule. And there is no user manual. I have a program that records the time and duration every time recirculation goes on and it doesn’t stick to the schedule. And you must have a schedule otherwise after it runs once when you start a schedule, It immediately disables. I’ve been told the schedule can’t be more than 4 hours. When I try a new schedule, nothing works and I have to remove the schedule, logout, remove the app, reinstall the app, login, and set up a schedule. When my schedule starts at 0600, recirculation starts at 0430. When the schedule ends at 2000, recirculation continues to 2230. Please fix this and give us a user manual with specific instructions on how to use it.

Useless without buying a separate WiFi module
Just a heads up that this app is completely useless unless you’ve paid for a WiFi module.
The Bluetooth capabilities are only for professional installers to configure the device the first time it starts up. As a homeowner you need to spend even more money to get fully functionality.

Won’t Connect
Pro Install Rinnai Water Heater. Despite many attempts it won’t connect. No help from installer. Said he had no idea how to connect.
Software Team
Why look at the cloud hardware as a profit center. It is clear it is the weak point. The integration into the settings should not require removing the panel and being connected to the board. It should be able to restart and reboot the system from app, as I find the heater works better with the occasional reboot. Also how about the systems reporting to you the challenges they are having. I suggest better cloud TS-485 hardware, as to make the product look better as a loss liter.

Rinnai Central app serious password entry problem
My review is for Rinnai Central version 4.2.0 (5): Mainly the app lacks robust user interface input validation to warn you of inputs that are invalid.
1) There's a serious problem with password entry for making a connection to a customer's Router Access Point. That is, the iPhone app will silently accept and truncate a password longer than the the length it will internally send when attempting access to your router's access point. From my experience, that truncation point is at least equal to or greater than 10 characters, but smaller than 26 characters. Through online chat with Rinnai support, I have advised the support staff there, Nicholas, of this problem which caused me days of delay and hours of personal time to get my RWM200 Wifi module connected to my Wifi access point. That's not to speak of the Rinnai support time wasted and unnecessary cost of replacement of my new RWM200 Wifi module.
2) Rinnai support advised that the app will allow you to specify any start time for scheduled recirculation tasks, but they will only work if your start time is on as 15 minute interval; 8:15,8:30, etc., not 8:05. Again an entrapment in the UI.
3) The "Recirculation Disabled" status item under the app should more appropriately be shown as "Recirculation In Use" or "Recirculation Inactive." It doesn't reflect whether you have enabled or disabled recirculation. I don't know if you can even use the app to disable recirculation.

Warning
This app require you to register an account with full name, address and phone number just to connect to your own device. No option to connect without giving private details. Useless unless you want all your details on yet another database resulting in unsolicited calls.
Rinnai hasn’t realized they are a software company
This water heater is classic internet of $###. Recommend avoiding Rinnai until they invest in UX. They can’t build a basic tool to send a signal to their own device to turn on and off a circulator. Now the app says “control failed” every time you visit a page or make a change. Now I have to go back to their old app, which thankfully is still available, but inexplicably logs my family out every 3 months.

Misleading and terrible app by Rinnai
One of the reasons I purchased the RXP-199 is because of the Bluetooth app. Find out now that the app is for professionals and not homeowners. Extremely misleading marketing. Although it seems that Rinnai is “looking into” giving homeowners access, it seems it hasn’t occurred. This is a 2 month fix at best. Must be afraid of some legal issues I guess but just have homeowners sign off and move on. Very disappointing. It’s also seems that looking at other reviews that the app is dysfunctional. Time to get another developer. Hope the product is better than this mess. Will find out soon. Hard to recommend right now.

Broken support with RWM101 WiFi Module
Recent software updates have broken support for older RWM101 WiFI modules and now constantly getting “control failed” errors. Customer support contacted many times and unable to resolve issue. Customer support aware current app is no longer compatible with older hardware and their recommendation is for customer to buy updated WiFI module which is ridiculous since they broke app functionality with recent hardware / app updates. My WiFi module is not broken, just the app no longer supports it. Unable to roll back app to working version either. Extremely disappointed with Rinnai given the tankless water heater is $2.000.

Much improved
As a plumber the new RWM200 and Bluetooth capability is night and day compared to the older model controllers. It is also nice to connect to the unit via Bluetooth to set the parameter
