Update missed the mark

The new Rinnai app is not an enhancement over the previous version. Even a slight step backward.
Appearance is a modest improvement. But, the Recirculate function is less reliable than previously. And since we don’t use preset schedules, the manual recirculate function is our house’s primary use of our Rinnai water heater and the app. Response to the Recirculate function varies. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t respond at all, and sometimes it seems like it doesn’t turn off when the selected time is up. Also, the remaining recirculation time no longer shows. That was a helpful feature.
The Refresh Status function (still) doesn’t do anything. And , why do I need to confirm that I want to refresh right after I just hit the button to refresh? It’s just an extra step, then the “refresh” quickly returns no new data.
Looking forward to the next version.

Response from developer

UPDATE: The recirculation feature has been fixed in Version 3.0.6. PREVIOUS: Thank you for your feedback. We are aware of the recirculation bug, and we are testing the fix for this at this time. We also are making changes to the Status Page so that it will refresh automatically. The "refresh" button is a signal to the water heater to send the most current data, which takes some time to refresh, and our next version will automate this when you open the application to reduce the time to get recent information. Thank you, and we will update this comment when we release the new version to see if we addressed many of your concerns.

Absolutely garbage

The old app (control.r) was bad. This one is worst. At least Recirculating the water in older app worked. In this app, even Recirculating does not work. App shows Recirculating is active but it’s actually not delivering hot water. Starting with 70F and outlet temperature, when I recirculate, Inlet temperature shows that it reaches 120f but outlet is stuck at 70f. Actual water is also not delivered hot.
Please revert back to older app, if your basic functionality is not working in new app.

My control-R is finally usable!

With the old Rinnai app I was unable to connect my control-R module to my wifi network. The app would just crash during the pairing process. Nice to see this working! Granted I only use the app to set the water temp and check the heater’s status.

It works

I don’t know how else to put this. But it works. It actually works. To call the old app completely trash is the highest order of compliments it could have received. This app actually works. It connects to my water heater and it works. Finally. Thank you.

Works whereas the old control r app didn’t

I could never get my wifi module set up with the old control r app; it would crash the app. But with this new app I was able to get it fully set up and control the RSC water heater with the app.
The experience was not seemless; the app said my wifi blue light should be solid but it was alternating blue/green. And my white mc 601 wall controller switched to celsius and started counting up numbers inexplicably. But after a few minutes of weirdness the app showed connected and everything started working.

So Far, So Good

I stopped using the wi-fi module a while ago and installed the Rinnai MC-195T-US wired controller because I was having issues with connectivity. I just did a flush on the tankless water heater and figured I would try the wi-fi module again. I installed the Rinnai Control-r 2.0 app and made it through to end where the wi-fi was connected, but the app crashed after that. After doing this a few times, I got frustrated and was going to install the wired controller again until I stumbled across this app. This is definitely a better experience and I was able to get everything set up.

I will update this review if there are any changes.
