    App works much better than the old one and easier to use
  • Still needs work

    Been using this for a few years now. There have been some improvements but it is broken right now. Started getting a “Control Failed” error a few days ago and still getting it after this latest update which claims to have fixed the error.
  • RXP199 support missing?

    I just got my RXP199iN installed a week back and the unit came with setup instructions. The instructions said to download the Rinnai Central app, then after opening the app, go to “Connect a Rinnai Water Heater” on the main menu. Except… there was only “Connect a Rinnai Wi-Fi Module”. When I tried that route to connect to the unit, it didn’t work.

    I know your main competency is water heaters, but if you’re going to provide an app, properly support it! In this day and age, ALL companies are tech companies.

    Would appreciate a response to handle this situation. Thanks.

    Thank you for reaching out on this topic, and we apologize for the confusion. The RXP Setup feature is limited to user accounts that are set up as Professional accounts, as the setup of the water heater includes features that should only be performed by a professional or educated installer. The screen you described is the End User screen. If you are an installer of the water heater, you can create a Professional Account in the application and connect to the water heater for setup purposes. You will be able to remain logged into the End User account for use of other features, such as the Wireless Controller. We are examining functionality to bring to the End User accounts for Bluetooth connectivity in the future. End users can also use the Bluetooth feature of the water heater for instantaneous recirculation by push button (RPB200).   • OK app, but last update regressed

    I like the Rinnai app from the standpoint that it is easy to control the water heater via the wifi, although there are times when I can’t initiate the recirculation. When that happens, I find logging out and back in to be the fix for that.

    Also, the latest update changed the orientation of the screen on my iPad. It now only shows up in portrait mode, which is, frankly, annoying as I use my iPad mostly in landscape mode. I dare say most iPad users use it in landscape mode. It would be nice to get the landscape mode back for iPads.

    Thank you for the feedback. We will be optimizing our display for iPad in the future, and we appreciate the suggestion that your preferred orientation should be in Landscape. Our previous screen was not optimized for the iPad screen either, but we will be moving toward this in the future. We also appreciate your feedback that you are still seeing issues with the instantaneous recirculation. We apologize, and are examining and will be addressing quickly. Thank you.
  • Terrible App...Doesn't work

    The main problem is that the on demand recirculation doesn't work. No matter how long you request it only runs for a few minutes and then stops so you end up washing dishes or clothes in cold water. Thankfully the scheduled run times seem to work. I thought it was fixed in the 4.0 update as it seemed to work for a while but it has stopped working again. Not sure if the 4.0.2 update broke it again.

  • Stopped working

    For some reason the app stopped being able to control the tankless water heater. I had to reinstall the whole thing to find out that the old control 2.0 app still controls the system. However, I could only complete the setup using this Central and not the Control 2.0 app. The whole process was so frustrating. I hope I don’t ever have to go thru with this again.

  • Makes a $2000 water heater useless.

    How is it that a name as big as Rinnai can cut corners on the most basic app? The new app worked at first. Now, I’m unable to get temperature changes to stick. It simply keeps resetting back to 108, even after I adjust to 130 over and over. It’s okay though, everyone loves a cold shower. Beyond frustrating to have installed a high end commercial water heater to have a garbage app make it not function. Freakin get it together and hire a company that knows how to make an simple app.

  • Crap

    I used WiFi module after some connection problems since 2019. I had once to replace the module but it was done under warranty. Now suddenly the module is off internet (recirculate buttons still work). I tried to connect again using old app 2.0 as well as new Central. All goes well with the old one until blue and green start blinking intermittently when app asks if this is so - pressing button with these colors crashes the app. The new Central goes fine until it discovers that new firmware (2.3.8?) is available - continuing leads to large circle with Failed and that's ends the process. I simply will stop using network access as this gives no additional functionality for me but it is a shame that the company can not make even such simple app cf. e.g. Nest that does it superbly.

  • It was working this morning but…

    After numerous hours trying to get the wifi for circulation back online, I finally unplugged, replugged and it worked last night and this morning. Now it won’t work again. I’m so frustrated. Judging by the other comments, I’m not alone with this and the developers are aware of it. I just hope it gets fixed soon. Living in a drought drunken area, I hate wasting 5 min of water every time I need hot water for a shower. Thank you! Update: since the last update, it works much better. Not every time, but more like 90%. So thank you!

  • Recirculation doesn’t work after latest update

    This app calls the unit and then freezes it. Can’t switch over to the old app and call recirculation now. Which means I’ll have to waste more time out of my day calling the support center and having a human unlock some setting that the new app froze…JUST to use my app as it was before this crappy new app
