Issue with nest price but great game

I have to agree with a lot of these players it would be better if we could earn a nest every so often and pay with gems instead of five dollars a basket or nest because it just doesn’t seem realistic to do that every time you want to hatch a baby I feel like we should be able to earn them or pay with gems instead so that it makes it a lot easier. You’re looking at this app as a an adult app but it’s not just for adults it’s for children too so you got to expect little kids are gonna be playing this game and want to hatch babies they can’t just go grab a credit card and attach babies you know I feel like there should be a earning or a gym so that you can trade for the nests. but other than the nest issue it’s a great game I feel like you should also be able to pair your own dots together to hatch babies free of charge. You know that away it’s free to hatch your own babies, but you have to pay gyms or baskets for outside hatchlings that aren’t in your own dots family does that make sense? That would be a great aspects for the app owners to add those features I feel like 90% of the platform uses for this game would agree on the nest issue that I brought to your attention and the being able to make your own dots together and let them let there be a screen to where your all your dots that you own are able to play on one screen as well thanks in advance for listening, but overall it’s a great game. Just a few bugs need to be fixed.

AMAZING! I’m sorry niantic

Honestly im amazed with how amazing this game is. The AR feature is incredible for just starting out! I love the tomogatchi like play style with the uniqueness of NFTs despite all the problems the game is still new and im so impressed. Im so excited too see where this goes since its first Niantic specific server since Ingress which is still going strong after almost if not over a decade!!! So fun to see the business knowledge ive seen taken. over the years. from ingress breaking the gaming indestry with location based gaming, to AR in pogo creating its very own genre of games with unique twist! I notice the slow starts after the 2017 server problems and i commend you all for your skill in attention to your flaws to fix too the unique creativity you bring with every single original game. I know with all the backlash due to prices and everything is a lot but at the end of the day yall are fantastic programmers minimum for the games that have been released over the years. Thank you and im super excited for the future of this game

Greed might kill this game

I finally got to be able to start playing, and I really wanna go walk my dot around and play together with my wife and her dot, but she like many others have already lost interest because a core mechanic of the game- no, the virtual pet genre as a whole- has been locked up behind a STEEP paywall. There’s already plenty of things to buy, so what gives? Design some new cute hats and accessories and sell THOSE. I personally don’t even see a problem with people hatching new dots as often as they want. Most other successful vpet games let you. This is pretty upsetting.

Maybe if you don’t want that, INCENTIVIZE the playerbase not to just ditch their dot right away, instead of placing such a massive deterrent and barrier from even enjoying a core feature of the game at all. As it is, I don’t even want to breed mine at all and lose my only nest! What if I bump into another dot with better traits and kick myself later, or my new dot looks SO much like my first that there’s just disappointment? I don’t have the kind of money to put towards keeping an interest in a game I’ve looked forward to for months…
There just isn’t enough to Do with your peridot besides that, so it’s a massive bummer.

Fun, but not “willing to break the bank” fun.

Growing up as a tamagotchi kid, I love playing this game. Going on walks with my dots, showing them a tree or a flower, digging in some dirt, playing fetch, seeing them grow up, etc. but I cannot justify spending so much money. If it was $1/nest with discount bundles from there, that would feel reasonable, considering it takes a dot about 3-4 days to mature so I’d be buying them so often. $5 just to continue progressing the game, without opportunities to buy with in-game money? No way, no app game is worth that. I’ve spent a decent of money on PoGo through the years, but at least I don’t absolutely HAVE to in order to progress, and that game is also getting too expensive for me to care about lately.

Besides the paywall, I also wish the hatch-a-dot system was less clunky. Having to send a message in Campfire, which is a separate app, and hoping somebody else checks their messages? The “send seed gift” should be replaced with the hatch request, since exchanging the same 400 seeds back and forth with someone seems pointless.

Love the idea behind the game, but the execution is lacking. I’ll play it again in the future if the paywall issue is mitigated, but for now it makes sense to abandon my 2 free dot pets...

Breeding behind a paywall

Great game, with great potential IF you didn’t have to pay £5 per nest (which are needed for breeding). I wouldn’t mind paying if they were £1.99 but I refuse to pay £5. If you can’t afford to pay for nests then you will find the game boring very quickly after you have bred your first dot (you get 1 free nest). For a game where breeding dots is a core part of the game, placing breeding behind a paywall is disgraceful. You can easily make money on other items so why charge so much for nests. At least bring back the option to find nest parts at habitats to be able to build them like you had in beta. Come on Niantic, prove you are not greedy and that you are not just using this game to milk people by giving us a free way to get nests (or at least make nests a lot cheaper to buy).

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot

Peridot seemed like a good game but by time I was less then 10 minutes in I realized that the nests meant to breed peridots were locked behind a paywall of 4.99, and that the “nest fragments” that existed in the beta were no more, and with just the 1 nest given out of pity for the player I decided to keep playing, but little did I know it only got worse, with some traits of peridots being behind levels far into the 30s I felt like I was getting spit at, trying to find a small bit of hope I reached out to other players nearby me but was only met with radio silence until nearly 3 days had passed, finally after 5 days of playing the game I was finally able to breed a peridot, but with a astronomical cost of about 1,337 gems to unlock the two star and three star traits behind a level lock I found myself unwilling to continue playing, this game had tons of potential despite having the model of most nft scams, and I wouldn’t have minded the scam like micro transactions if ordinary players had at least the ability to have more then 2 peridots, however with no ability to even do that I ultimately lost any hope I had for this game lasting more then a year, without major changes in the gameplay and the core structure of earning Peridot might as well just shut the stables doors and throw out the key.

Cute and easy game, but some problems

Yesterday, my friend recommended me this game. When I tried it, it was very fun, and still is! It is so fun raising a Dot, going to different types of terrain and habitats! I feel that it really connects you to other people near you, and makes you explore. The genetics system is fascinating and will definitely inspire some people. One tiny problem I have with the game is the nests. I love how you can hatch new Dots, but a $5 nest is too much for some people and I think there should be another way to acquire one. It is great how the developers have supplied a free one, but for people who move ahead quickly in games could have a problem. It would be a much easier way to get new nests or Dots by having the user unlock a nest every ten or so levels, with maybe a few requirements and such for getting a new nest. Maybe they could earn more profit by letting people adjust 5 traits to have higher chances or more rare appearances for $5 per nest, or something like that. Thank you for reading.

Feels incomplete, poorly executed

Whilst the concept is incredibly cute, there is very little in the way of ongoing gameplay. Once you’ve raised your Dot to an adult and done 1 breeding, then raised that baby to an adult, you’re done unless you want to pay $5 every time to breed. In a game whose final end game is to unlock colour combinations and archetypes, that’s almost impossible in the current format. Additionally there is no incentive to keep playing as the only thing you can do apart from the paywall-locked breeding is to feed foraged items, and throw a ball. The game feels like it’s in a beta test and should be part of a much larger game, but this is it. I hope Niantic comes up with more reasons to keep playing, otherwise it’s worth about a week of fun, then it’s straight to the uninstall pile.

Edit: My rating has been dropped to 1 due to a number of near-game breaking bugs. Game sees my dogs as people, and takes minutes of scanning to see a dog as a dog. The tiny finger movements designated as pats are no longer working as pats and are causing the Dots to scavenge instead. Plants are scanning as unnatural surfaces. Dots are ignoring more than half of the food thrown to them. Please fix this.

Fix nests, and I’ll play this 24/7

If you’re wondering if you should download this: The answer is yes. You will undoubtedly get bored once you hit the pay wall a few days in, but those few days will be AWESOME. For this to be a long term game for me, though, the nest issue needs to be fixed. I understand nests can’t be an infinite resource, and that there has to be some kind of barrier to players hatching constant dots. But it’s absolutely wild to expect the average player to pay $5 EVERY time they want to hatch a new dot. I could understand nests being available for gems—something that’s purchasable through a micro transaction, but also able to gain in small amounts by playing regularly. Or even if we were given a free nest as a daily check in reward, say once a month or so, and then additional nests had to be purchased with real money. But when you advertise hatching new dots and breeding unique traits as a CORE MECHANIC of this game, this kind of paywall is just ridiculous. The average player isn’t going to spend up to $30 a month on nests so they can hatch a new dot every time their baby dot grows up. I could see myself spending real money on this game, playing it every day, etc. But in order for me to do that, ya gotta throw me a bone. Give me a free nest every once in a while, so I get used to hatching new dots and excited enough about the process to spend cash on it. Right now, I just don’t care.
