Ecosia > chrome > safari > explorer. Enough said
  • Ecosia easy

Great to be able to use an ethical search engine. I like watching the number of trees I am supporting in getting planted as I search.
  • Almost...

I really like the app and I also like to help the planet, nice to know I can do two things at once. However, there is no history which means when I have to go back-and-forth between different pages, I have to switch to Google. Also, the instructions to put it on my iPad are very sketchy and impossible to do. It is a chore to consistently have to switch to it when everything in my iPad leads me to Safari. The link that they say is on the Ecosia Page does not exist nor is there any link to contact people to ask for help. But just as a simple search engine, it is great and the one I use unless I need to do research in which I switch back to Google.

  • Great app, and it plants trees !

Works very well, especially on phones. I like the fact that you can check your tree planting progress !
  • Great app - but...

I have found some searches produce more ads at the top of the list than other search engines but it's easy to scroll past them knowing that the majority of that generated income goes to trees rather than a tax-shy paying business like google. However, when you switch between apps, it doesn't keep the page you were on therefore having to search all over again which is time wasting. The 'new tab' button is clunky and freezes. Will try and stick with the app though - I like the premise behind it.

  • Love ecosia search but this app is flawed

We love ecosia conceptually and as a search tool generally but this app is glitches and needs a few improvements.

    1. Haven't been using long but crashes/freezes with 'keep tabs/close tabs' prompt at times failing to take heed of selection which can result in loss of open tabs.

    2. Also why isn't there 'open in new tab' available from holding down on a hyperlink? Only open which just derails my tabgental browsing preference when researching ie. I don't want to have to press 'back' and return to search results in order to click on another single link and repeat the process.

    3. Where's the forward button? Only back! Can't swipe to progress either please fix.

Would be my only browser on the iPad with these improvements

  • Awesome app

Great app. Basically exactly like google. The only differences I've found so far is that there's no Streetview on maps, and you don't seem to be able to limit search results to just from your country. But hey- it's worth it for the trees!
  • Great search engine

I enjoy Ecosia because it functions as well as Google, and it plants trees! There are less ads then on Google (if I recall correctly), and with the ads that are shown they pay for the trees. 👌🏽
  • Totally AWESOME!!!! 💚🌍🌲🍄🌻💚

This app is just wonderful. A perfectly good search engine, as good as the rest, with an added dose of the feel-good factor for saving the WORLD as you browse!!! A WONDERFUL app made by clearly WONDERFUL people and I will recommend this to anyone who will listen!! I've read in other reviews people saying it doesn't do some little snazzy things and I would say to them WHO CARES??!!!! I'd much rather have a slightly less than expert search engine that does the job just fine and SAVES THE FLIPPIN WORLD doing it!! Plus I don't know what these snazzy things are so don't miss them!! Totally awesome app. Thanks for being totally awesome people 💚🌍🌲🍄🌻💚

  • Treehugger Review

Love this app so much! I do my normal research/Google searches but plant trees at the same time! And getting to track where they are planted is a very cool feature!
