  • My favorite browser

I love that one can set their device to make Ecosia the default browser. And you can help the planet’s biological health while simply browsing the Web! The browser’s features are very practical and it does not take long to get accustomed to this app if you are used to using a different browser. It appears to me that the security features are sound, and it does everything it should do if you are looking for a normal web browser to read the Internet and watch videos. Plant trees while you browse the Web!

  • Ecosia’s cons in my experience;

    - All my tabs and history disappeared recently, including my ‘impact’ on Ecosia (and mind you I’m someone who keeps ALOT of tabs open)
    - There is no ‘shopping’ icon like Google has, which makes it hard to search up something and find it on various websites, so I tend to go back to safari for that.
    - Ecosia used to not show the photos when you clicked on them in the ‘images’ icon, fortunately it does now - but takes a little while to load up, which isn’t a huge deal.

  • Could be better

I love that the browser helps the environment so I’m going to keep using it. But it’s really frustrating to use. I have a couple of pages I keep up on tabs and half the time when I open them to refresh, they are gone and it looks like I’ve opened a new tab. The search feature itself doesn’t compare to the more common search site I used before. It can often be difficult to find what I’m looking for. I also can’t preview the tabs I have opened well, because sometimes it just doesn’t show a preview. Not a huge deal, but sometimes it causes me to accidentally close a tab I meant to keep open to look back at later. I am just trying to practice patience with this app and hope it gets better. I am happy it helps our beautiful environment.

  • Love it, but it keeps resetting to 0 trees

I love this app, I love planting trees just based on my searches, but it keeps resetting my trees planted count to zero every now and then. I was at ~18-20 and it reset to zero, then I got to 4, almost 5, which seened like it took a lot longer to plant a tree than before the update, and it just reset to 0 again. As long as they’re being planted and helping, that’s what matters most, but I would like for it to keep track, especially so I can show my count to my friends to convince them to get the app too!

  • Great cause , great search

I like this app a lot. It seems to be based on Firefox (a lot of UI elements and menus are similar), it uses Safari rendering ( as all iOS browsers must), and uses the Bing index. That’s a good solid collection of technologies to base a great app/browser/search, and I really enjoy using it.
But most importantly, I love that a percentage of profit goes to funding of planting trees. More and more I’m getting more and more conscious of climate change and the consequences that go with it. So if my searches can help fight climate change, I’ll gladly do so (instead of giving all my data to Google 😉). I also use an app called GetGreen, which helps you adjust daily habits to help reduce carbon footprint. I highly recommend it.
My only gripe is that on the Ecosia home page, where it shows your impact, it only shows I’ve done 3 searches, and is stuck there, even though I’ve done many more.
Apart from that, it’s a great app.

  • Love it but kinda annoying

I absolutely love the idea of creating a browser that allows you to plant trees for a certain amount of searches you perform.

The only problem is that it keeps logging me out of my account every few minutes I try to sign in and as a result, it hardly lets me save my search count. I’m doing this on mobile through the app so I’m not sure if that’s the problem but I’m unable to download it on my computer as my school admins have blocked downloads. I don’t know what to do and it just keeps unsaving my search count and it’s getting kind of irritating.

  • Add richer media to search, and roll back the logo

This is a wonderful thing, planting trees while searching the web. I love your business model and appreciate what you do.
The Search experience should be improved. Comparing this to other browsers I use (Chrome, Safari) the search landing experience leaves a lot to be desired. If for instance I want the answer to a question, google provides it at the top of my search results on these other browsers, and that saves me time, clicks and is convenient. Please bring more of these widgets and features into this browser.
The logo: What? It looks like a cheap tshirt design for an Irish pub. It doesn’t look like a browser and definitely not a serious one. I recommend a different design agency and it’s worth the investment. If you can attract more people you can plant more trees.

  • horrible new look, impact counter doesnt work

i love ecosia. i've been using it for nearly a year. the old app icon was pretty, it showed what ecosia was about, it made sense. this new app icon is absolutely hideous. it looks like some early 2000s microsoft game or some banking app now.

the logo IN the app, app appearance IN the app, is not nearly as bad. in fact, i think it could grow on me. the old ecosia logo definitely made more sense and showed what ecosia was about, but this isn't too bad. its the app icon really thats most awful, though i have seen quite a few people point out this new green is very hard on the eyes, especially for sensitive eyes.

finally... it says my impact is 0? ive been using ecosia for months, nearly a year. what?

  • An open letter

I don’t like to be dramatic, but I’m going to be dramatic. I love this search engine so much and have been using it for years. I have 67 tabs open rn because I wanted to turn my fan fiction addiction into something useful. I love this app, but this new design makes me want to cry. The old layout and design was so pretty and comforting. The soft pale blue and pastel globe reminded me that I was helping save the planet. But this, this green is upsetting. It sticks out like a sore thumb and is not nighttime friendly. Its so harsh. Pls go back to the old design or make the color a sage green. I’m still using the app because I love y’all’s mission. But I am not a fan of this update.

  • Been using it for years

i wont lie, i love using ecosia. i LOVE the create new search tab button being easily accessible, it really makes searching for specific things easier. it’s also nice that the app opens most tabs in a new window. there are soo many good things to come out of this app, though one of my main gripes is the fact that even after i turn on “accept all cookies”, the app still will not track the amount of searches that i have. no to flex, but last time it was made available to me (about a year and while ago) i had planted something like 50 trees. i should now have eclipsed that, and yet my impact is zero trees -_- i would like for this to be fixed, but im not gonna stop using the app anytime soon
