Love Ecosia!
I really like that I can help plant trees just by changing my browser. I trust Ecosia because the post their tree planting financials to show that they really care about the environment and their mission to help the planet by planting trees all across the globe. The only thing though is they’re image search isn’t great, kinda glitchy to search and open images sometimes on the app and I think google images usually gives better image selection. All in all through, I still love Ecosia and will continue to use it!Show lessShadeWade22
LOVE IT!
I honestly don’t care if there’s anything to improve this app. It has a amazing cause. If you didn’t hear about the news, we may experience, increase in heat, droughts, and insect outbreaks! This search web is perfect for this time. It even tells you how to use it. This app is way better than safari/google. It works the same but has also many different things. This app is definitely a 5 stars. If I could, I would give 10 stars. Unfortunately that’s not possible. I definitely recommend this app!Show lessushwhwha

A search engine created to give back!
I love Ecosia! I love the concept and their vision and that my searches are contributing to trees being planted. This is massively aligned to my personal and business values. I’m very conscious of the potential negative impacts my actions may have on the environment and our planet. So anything that I can do to reduce this impact I’m all for!

App is broken
After the major update either last year or in 2020 my search tree count reset from 35,980 back to 0. Now every time I reach 376 it resets back to 0. I’m not changing settings or anything? So why is it doing this. And losing a search COUNT OF 36,000 really?? C’mon why’s it doing this??Harrison Saunders

Hi Harrison, the personal counter works with a cookie and as it is being reset, the goes down to 0. You can prevent loosing your counter by signing up for our synch features. Overall, ecosia is a great app, i loved the formatting, plus it was working really well for me. The thought of planting trees with my searches was a huge bonus and I got exited to contribute the environment just by sitting around on my phone 😏. It was the ideal search engine.
The app itself is fine, but a friend of mine pointed how many trees that that the company would have to plant for allegedly every website you access on it.
So tell me, do you find the fact that every website you go to could plant a tree, that this would be contributing greatly to the real issues that go on around Earth? Oh, and what about the people who have to plant said trees, are they being paid well enough.
So I’ve deleted ecosia off my phone, much to my chagrin.

Running in the background
I don’t like writing reviews unless I’m completely satisfied but I’ve been having some issues with the app for quite some time. I will click on links (ie, my local health site for COVID testing) and then my phone will show me that my screen time is exponentially higher than normal. Two sites have been running in the background for over 7 days straight even though I don’t have tabs to those sites open in Ecosia anymore. My girlfriend uses different apps for browsing and those same sites do not continue to run in the background after being clicked on.
I have even tried setting a 1min maximum screen time allowance for each of these sites in my settings but it has continued through this as well. This last week is not the first time this happened and typically each site stops running in the background after a 7 day period has gone by since visiting that site but that’s just far too long. Sadly I will be deleting Ecosia from my phone.Show lessAshCimm

If only so many other web based companies could do so much for the planet we all share! Congratulations to Ecosia on becoming a carbon negative business and keep up the fantastic work you are doing for humanity's only home. I started using Ecosia when the trees planted count was only around 35 million and I love to watch the count growing, as well as reading all about the places and communities you are helping. Yay! So glad you moved the “new tab” button back to the bottom/center of the main page. I generally use the app as a running To Read/Watch list of things I hear about, and when the new tab button was moved so that we had to click over to the View All Tabs screen made it more of a hassle to just quickly searching something up. I think the Ecosia page with news/updates is cool to look at every so often, but I’m really glad you moved that somewhere else and moved the new tab button back to the Home ScreenShow lessafc310
I love Ecosia, but..
I love Ecosia because it shows unbiased info- unlike google. I also love the idea of tree planting every time someone makes a search. Apparently, I got a virus on safari and I was already using Ecosia on my chromebook so I got the app on my phone. I have two problems from this search engine. One, when I search up something and I look in the images, the image is very blurry and it never really clears up- and its like this for every image. Another problem I've heard from other reviews is that when they look for a video or something like that, there are inappropiate images.
If you'd fix these issues, I'd give Ecosia five stars.
