used to be great now only wants money do not buy

i have used this app for years almost 5 now and it used to be so so great, there were chat rooms for people to talk and vent to people to understood their struggles and it was so easy to track data and it was free! but now all they want is money they have become stingy and no longer care for their users and only new profit. i truly believe that they no longer care about users at all and have gradually been getting way worse when it comes to taking things away and making it a pay to use app. since i have started using this app i have gone through three phones and each the first time i had to redownload this app (oct 23ish) you didn’t have to pay for your data however you had to pay for almost any other feature and you had to do daily pledges to even enter chat rooms. Now i tried to redownload it on my new phone and it says i cannot even access my data without paying. that is absurd!!!! i understand stand a few extra perks here and there that cost money bc hey you need to make money somehow but not even allowed my own data when i’ve had this account for 5 years is actually insanity! i do not recommend this app to anyone at all anymore there are great alternatives that are free and care for their users.

Response from developer

Sorry you had this experience. This feedback isn't quite correct so we want to clear some things up. 1. We tell you multiple times that your data is only backed up if you're a Sober Plus subscriber, otherwise it's stored locally on your device. If you delete the app, you also delete the data. 2. Sober Plus does not allow you to post more than non-subscribers, this is just made up. 3. If you email us at support@iamsober.com, we're happy to let you have Sober Plus for some time for free.

Good at some stuff not at others

It’s a good enough app and helps keeping your thoughts even but the ads are really invasive. And some of the advice it gives is not practical. Alright app though

A very helpful tool on your road to recovery!

After a mistake I made by using, I restarted my road to recovery.

Annoyed at myself, I wanted to make sure I prepared as much as possible to lower the chances of relapsing and one of those preparations was downloading ‘I Am Sober’.

After previous failed attempts of giving up, this simple, easy-to -use app has helped me stay sober for the longest amount of time since daily use. I know this because of the milestone feature, which is my favourite thing about the app! After you enter what drug you’re trying to remain sober from, it shows how many people using the app are about to reach the same milestone as you (1 week, 10 days, 2 weeks, 1 month etc) and it’s very helpful to me knowing how many others are trying to do the right thing with me.

I also love the feature that shows your daily savings since being sober. You enter your estimate cost when you were using and it updates daily (which is all part of the free subscription)

Highly recommend downloading this app if you’re serious about quitting! It doesn’t mean you won’t make mistakes, but it’s certainly helped keep me sober for the longest time since giving up!

Nothing but positive

First off I have never written an app review because quite frankly I’ve never used an app I enjoyed enough to take time out of my day to write a review for- until I downloaded I Am Sober. It’s honestly refreshing how much this app has to offer in its free version. I can’t afford to pay for an app subscription, so to have a resource that genuinely wants to help you get better rather than just gain another buck means the world. I Am Sober is extremely user friendly, and offers opportunities to pledge your sobriety every morning, sends you positive and motivational messaging, provides you with a community of folks in the same boat as you who want to help you live your best life just as they want to live theirs. The application provides users with daily journal prompt questions if that’s your kinda thing, but there’s no pressure to fill them out so it never feels like a chore. I actually look forward to going into the app at the end of my day to see my progress, and how much money and time I’ve saved investing in myself. I couldn’t recommend I Am Sober enough, it will change your life.

Membership???

As much as I like this app and what it provides, it annoys me that I have to pay for some sort of membership to get the full deal. I’m struggling with addiction, and I feel like no one can help me with this and I’m in this alone. This app could be more useful and could help millions if you didn’t have to pay 70 dollars yearly.

Absolutely amazing app so glad I found it! 🙌

This app has been by far the best apps o have found to help on a road to recovery, whatever that road is you can see how much money you have saved , calories you have not taken in that you usually would, and most importantly it gives you an area where you can write down your thoughts and asks Questions to keep you focused on your goal. Honestly feel like even tho I have a lot of friend and family support this app is impartial and feels more private makes me feel like I have a secret weapon to my issues with dependency. Thank you so much to whoever made it! Life saver!🛟

I’m almost a month clean

I seriously love this app. It has helped me stay clean from self harm for just under a month now. And I am forever greatful to have an app that can do something like this, I love being able to send my close friends my steak of my sobriety and the app has motivation to keep you on track. I 100 percent reccoment you to try it if you have been looking for an app like this to use. It is seriously a godsend. Good luck my loves. You are so loved, you don’t even know.

TF?

Never left a review before but i think this app deserves one the developers and designers of this app clearly couldn’t care less about the people that need help otherwise something like sober plus wouldn’t exists and also the community tab is genuinely horrible its filled with people talking about relapsing and not in a nice or uplifting way its also filled with people saying how they are going to commit and horrible stuff like that yes this app dose have a-lot of helpful features but if the devs really cared they would do something about the abundance of things that it wrong with this app and another thing the dev is replying to a-lot of comments like this (probably a bot) saying something like we have free options and sober premium is completely optional like that changes the fact that they are still trying to leech money out of the most vulnerable people if they really cared all the features would be accessible for free and not locked behind a pay wall truely disgusting in my opinion but if you don't care about all of that then this app still dose what it was made to do just in a wrong way.

Amazing

It’s an amazing app that counts up your days how long you’re refrained from whatever you’re trying to stay away from. Then you also can input your reasons, and there is a community section where you can post. The only thing is, it should allow you to do multiple streaks because I’m not only giving up overshopping, I’m also giving up sugar. It would really help. I don’t think groups should be by invite only, I think you should be allowed to request to join a group just like on Facebook. And there is a wait before you can post again which is a bit annoying but maybe it’s for the best so you don’y spam others?

Perfection

I’ve been suffering with addiction since I was a teenager. I am an adult now and I’m still suffering addiction. I’ve tried many ways to become sober but ultimately I would fail over and over. I got so fed up with my life until the day I decided to look for a sober app. I downloaded this app with low expectations but when I finally had the app set up, I was mind blown with how supportive this app is. It’s been the most helpful source of support I have ever had. I love the fact that there is a community who you can relate with and speak to when you have an urge to relapse. I recommend this app to anyone who is looking to become sober and I can’t rate this app any higher.
