  • Worst company ever

    WOW, this has to be the worst company I have ever done business with. My girlfriend and I came to Colombia for a two week vacation. We have lived together in the US for the past two years but she grew up in Colombia when she was younger so she has a bancolombia account. I tried to just send 100 to her account through this app for some extra cash and it said we would have it in 15 minutes which was perfect because we needed it to pay the driver. After 2 hours of waiting the app said it needed more information asking about my job and our relationship. I answered the questions and still nothing. After waiting more and stranded, we call and they said they need more information. They asked how long we have been dating, if we are in good standing etc. I said how we have been dating for years in the US. They said everything was ok and we would have the money in 3-5 minutes. We waited again and it never came. We ended up walking by then. We called again the next day and they said they needed a copy of my passport, my bank information, and all of my bank statements. I asked if they had a manager and they said they did not. At this point I cancel the transaction and used an atm and just pay the fees. This is the worst service I have ever had with any application in my life. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

  • Loved it until their service made me hate it

    On March 5th, I made two transactions of $1,000 each, totaling $2,000, which were reported as deposited into the recipient's account on March 14th. However, upon further investigation, I discovered that the funds never reached the recipient due to incorrect bank account information. When I contacted the bank, they confirmed that the account number I mistakenly provided does not exist. I promptly informed Remitly of this situation, and they assured me that the funds would be returned to my account within three months.

    Today is July 26th, and I have yet to receive any resolution or response. I have made numerous calls to follow up, and each time I am informed that they will liaise with the bank and respond within 48 hours. This pattern has repeated with no tangible results. One representative even suggested that it is not their responsibility and advised me to visit the bank personally, which is both impractical and unacceptable. This response demonstrates a severe lack of respect for their customers.

    The last person I spoke with guaranteed resolution within 48 hours, but it has now been 3-4 days without any follow-up communication. The recurring pattern of making promises and then failing to deliver is deeply disappointing. Despite requesting to speak with a supervisor multiple times, I have been met with evasive responses and abrupt terminations of the calls.

  • BAD SERVICE!!!!! BEWARE!!!!

    If I could only give them a negative star, I would! Took them forever to process my refund! Agents are rude and can't give me a direct answer to my question where my money is! Even blamed my bank and Apple Pay were the ones holding my reimbursement! I waited 17 business days before I received my money back! And that money was meant to be used for emergency purposes! If I hadn't involved my bank and put in a dispute on this transaction, they wouldn't probably lift a finger! I was lied to again and again about where my money was, who had it, and when the refund was really processed! The audacity of them asking for a bank statement proving that you haven't received your money yet! There was even one agent who told me I was not allowed to send money to a business account and remitly was not allowing a business transaction and it is the policy. I did not see that on the policy. I took a screenshot of the conversations I had with the agents. It is so frustrating not knowing the truth where your money is and if you'll ever see it again. I entrusted you with my money, but I learned the hard way that this app is not reliable AT ALL and will just disappoint you.

  • Don’t Risk your money on this site.

    I made a transfer to my bank in January 2024 through the app. A week later the cash had not reflected. I contacted Remitly and they said that they already sent the money and the only way they can help is by me providing my bank statement. This is weird since they cannot contact the bank by themselves yet they are partnering with them. I have them my bank statement nevertheless and the told me to give them a week for investigation. A week passed and they did not get back to me. I reached out to them after 2 weeks and they assumed that I had not lodged a complaint and started asking me again for a statement. After being furious they said that they will look into it I give them 3 days. After a month I got back and they again started acting like they don’t know my issue. 6 months later I follow up and they tell me that my bank is taking too long to have my money disbursed. I request for a reversal and they tell me I give them 3 days to investigate. I request the manager or any concerned person contact so that I contact them directly after the 3 days, they decline. I still haven’t gotten my money and I don’t think I will ever get it and they don’t want to admit that I will never get it.
    So If you want to risk your money then work with this app. This is a honest review

  • Remitly preferred

    I have been using Remitly for a long time now so far I haven’t had any scams any problems of that sort. I have sent money from USA to Nigeria, Zambia, Dominican republic, Pakistan, etc. The problems that I have had I have been able to contact customer service 24 seven through Chat or phone. One instance I sent the money to the wrong bank. They said it would take up to a week, but the problem was solved right away, I did keep calling and chatting with them, and letting them know my concern an urgency. I have a current issue now, but the problem is the bank has received the money for the recipient and they are the problem right now but Remitly has done their work so far. I am very happy with the customer, service and support. I have tried other apps and services in town and so far this is my preferred. The most I have sent is $2000. I sometimes have not been easy on the customer service when I have an issue but we always end up working it out and I appreciate that. I appreciate their customer service. Thank you. God Bless.

  • Very unprofessional

    I have used Remitly to send three times. The first two times went without trouble. The third time, their agent called me to verify my relationship with the receiver and the purpose of the funds. They went on to ask some questions that I don't believe are reasonable. They want to know when and where I last met with the person and why I am sending money to that person and not anyone else. After all the questions, the agent said the verification was completed, they approved the transaction, and the funds would be processed and sent. They charged my card right after. However, the next day, my transaction showed as canceled, and my bank card was still charged. I called customer service, and they said they couldn't approve the transaction at the end (even though they called me asking all those questions and said everything was good to go), and the refund would be issued the same day or in 24 hours. And now, three days later, I'm still waiting for my refund. I have called them again, and a different agent has a different story, telling me that I need to wait 10 days for my refund. This is unacceptable and unprofessional. They don't care, and they lie.

  • Horrible Experience

    I absolutely hate this app and the customer service that accompanies it. This was my first time using this app and I completed all the verification processes successfully only to have my transaction put “on hold” with no explanation as to why. I then called their customer service, as instructed, whom asked a bunch of questions interrogation-style and then put me on hold for almost an hour. At the end of the call, the representative for whatever reason decided not to allow me to transfer the money and closed my account without any explanation. I asked why and was not given an answer. You’re literally at the discretion of the representative you speak to as to whether or not your transactions will go through. Nothing else. There was absolutely no reason for my transfer to have gotten rejected. The representative did not give me a valid answer and refused to answer. What is the point of having an app to send money to family and friends if you don’t want people to use it for that reason? It seems they run on discrimination and speculation to pick and choose who can or can’t send money. Horrible.

  • Terrible Customer Support & Unclear Instructions

    I had two issues with Remitly:

    1. My transaction was not being received by my recipient. So I contacted customer support. They said they’d contact the “concern team” and then told me they’d get back in 2-3 business days. The transaction was already late at this point so I asked if there was a phone number or email for the concern team and they said no. What kind of department doesn’t have an email or phone number?? They just kept saying that there was nothing they could do but that the concern team was contacted. And this was my first time using Remitly and $3000 was already taken out of my bank account. So you can see why I’d be concerned and why I wanted to get the contact info to check in the status of my transaction.

    2. Unclear instructions for referral link. I clicked on the referral link I received and the link led me to the website where it said “download the app”. So I did so and made my first transaction but didn’t see the $20 reward. I thought it’d come through after the transaction goes through. But it didn’t so I called customer service. And they said I was supposed to click on the link again before making the transaction, which was not what the referral link said. The referral link said to register with this link to get the rewards. So I ended up having to call customer service and they just kept saying we see that you didn’t use any link. The instructions should have been clearer.
