  • New cards are WAY too specific

    EDITED -
Thank you for your response. I went into the settings and though KIDS PACK was NOT checked, ALL CARDS was. Thank you for your non-generic reply.

Original: I have used Brain Sparker every day for months and months. Many, many new cards in the update do not spark creativity, they give VERY specific “assignments” that have absolutely nothing to do with the work I do. I have no desire to write about a birthday party when I’m looking for a way to shift my perspective. This morning, the assignment was to “put a leaf under my paper and trace over it with a pencil then add lots of color.” Really? I know I can swipe for another card, but when that one asks me to “act out a tv scene in which you are a shop assistant and you suddenly discover you can read people’s minds” it’s REALLY frustrating. The person or people who created these cards don’t seem to understand what their own product used to be about: SPARKING creativity no matter the possible project... not guiding a user in a completely extremely specific exercises that sound like they were written by an activities director at an assisted living facility. Your broad questions and prompts are and have been FANTASTIC. “Add a bit more of something.” “It’s ok to be wrong” “Which rules could you break?” These are what work in your app... but to come up with examples just now, I had to wade through a bunch of cards asking me to “draw a robot dancing with its pet dog” or to design a beach umbrella or to design an app and create its screen icon. It’s hard to believe these are real. Paint a face on a rock? These suggestions are insulting to people trying to work through big issues in their creative projects. You created something GREAT (so great I’m still giving 3 stars even though it has plummeted in consistency & quality). Just keep doing what you did so beautifully.

  • No variety

Out of 252 available cards in my packs I have seen maybe 15 to 20 different ones since I started using the app sometime last year. I can’t find any settings that would explain this, so I can only assume the random number generator algorithm used is not that great. Thankfully I did not spend money on this. Even just going in order front to back through the decks would be better... at least I’d see them all eventually.

    Developer Response

Thanks for your feedback. It's extremely unusual to see the same cards, especially with 150 different cards. So check that you don't have "favorites" ticked in "card packs" (this would repeat all your favorite cards.) Also, if you pick "starter pack" and then pick a card if you keep swiping left you'll be able to see all the 250 cards. Try that and see how you go!
  • Great!

Love it gets me going and thinking!
  • Suggestions

I like this app. It’s pretty good. I got it because I had trouble with creativity as an artist, and trying to be original. Some of the cards help, but I wish you’d make it better for drawing and art.
  • I will change my review after I had the app for more than 10 minutes 🙄

    Can’t see what I am typing 😒
  • Thank you

So much for helping me and many .
  • Creativity flow

Love the topics . I’ve used it so much since I’ve installed it . I write journal entries or ask my friends the questions . Definitely needs more topics I’ve gone through majority of them💜
  • Great app! Not ideal for writing, but provokes thought.

I wouldn’t say that it helps me write, I just think it lets me think in a new way about my life and goals moving forward. If they do want to gear it towards writing, I suggest using more pictures that have a mysterious element.
  • 10/10 would recommend

    Great App
  • Inspiring

Very nice app. Beware poor writers like myself: writing lack is an addon for 0.99. Rated it five so you can see it.
