Cannot recommend

I purchased the iPhone app and also the more expensive app for the Mac computer. Sorry but I cannot recommend this phone app at all.

It started out being useful enough, but nowadays it is unusable. The iPhone app simply gets stuck in a loop trying to link to Dropbox (“session ended - do you want to relink?”) but there’s zero opportunity to find out why it dropped the link or to get a word in edgewise to confirm that a relink (I guess?) is required.

Feels like this s/w has been abandoned… have seen multiple users complain about this issue but no updates from the vendor yet, so…

Nice idea though. Your very own ability to create your own personal wiki-like database for your personal devices. I created two such databases and used them extensively but now cannot get to any of my data or pages.

Simple, personal wiki

My most essential app for notes, other than the Notes app. If you need to organise a lot of information in a clear and easy way, check it out.
Genuinely looking forward to the new version and many more years of use.

Deprecated

Does not work, emailed the developer months ago and never got a response. Seemed like it was a good app in it’s time but no longer functional.

No integration with iOS

Cannot open files from another app, no Files integration, no iCloud integration.

Catastrophic failures

VooDooPad has been my go-to Note pad for at least 25 years. I loved its simplicity, speed, and breadth of functionalities. In particular, I loved how it synced among my various Apple devices.

The current version erases all of that. Not only does it not sync, it continues to lose my pages -- just under 700 at last count, most of which are recipes that I could not recover if I had another 25 years.

For the moment, it continues to function nominally on my desktop, which is not thrilling when you try to set it up in a kitchen.

Primate should be humiliated that this thing is in the wild. Do yourself the favor I wish I could go back 25 years to do: get something else. *Anything* else.

Getting there!

I can *finally* go back to using VoodooPad as my primary app for notes, now that the iOS app is much better at syncing and editing.

All I need to add that last star is a “home” button and better support for images.

Thank you!

Stick a pin in it, please!

Update 2:
According to the Primate Labs blog, they acquired Voodoo Pad from Plausible. Better yet, they appear to not be Plausible under a different name! I’m bumping up 2 stars to give Primate the benefit of the doubt and the app another shot. Thank you for rescuing it from being chained up and ignored in the backyard of Plausible.

Update: Guess what? The TouchID bug "fix" is no fix at all. I just enabled TouchID and can no longer get into the app.

Wow, how lame are these developers?!?! I keep trying the Mac version periodically before spending $40 to see if the sync gets fixed. Never does.

Both the Mac and iOS versions are the same version (5.1.4) and are set to sync via Dropbox. EVERY TIME they sync data gets deleted, replaced by "Write about __ here," with "__" being the title of your note which VP just deleted.

Plausible: Please sell this app back to Flying Meat - you guys have destroyed what was a good app, killed whatever reputation it had when FM owned it, and made yourselves look like..., I don't know, but not competent developers. I wouldn't look twice at whatever else it is you develop.

Great tool, needs improvement

I use VoodooPad on the Mac every day and it is an essential par of my studying and research. The iOS version has been rather lacking for a while. Until the most recent version, it did not support Rich Text. Now it does, but at the cost of breaking existing non-WikiWord links in documents. You now cannot easily browse around your wiki and click on links.

Updates are infrequent and the sync functionality occasionally breaks. VoodooPad is an excellent idea that is almost great.

broke the link mechanism

With the latest update, tapping a link puts you in edit mode instead of taking you to the linked page. Developers consider that a feature instead of a bug. It turns Voodoopad from one of the few nice wikis into one of the endless supply of regular note taking apps.

Shiny - And...it Crashes

Pretty much says it all.

Used to work well on Mac, while always getting hung-up or having syncing issues between Mac and iOS.

Shiny new icon and yet it crashes the instant you add a document or try to link anything.

Just dissapointed!
