User Reviews: Stand Up! The Work Break Timer

  • Good reminder to stand up

After reading and article in the New York Times, “Exercise for 3 minutes, every half hour, to counter the I’ll effects of sitting,” I resolved to find an app to help me more than the Apple Watch stand up every 60 minutes. This app has a lot more granular choices. I especially like that you can have it remind you just at home by using location services. In a future version I’d love it to sense my movement so it doesn’t ask me to stand when I am already walking.
  • Just a good app for a good reason

This is a straightforward app. It sets a reminder for your chosen duration and simply tells you to stand up and move around. If you’re sitting, get up. If you’re standing already, ignore it. Want to limit the reminders to when you’re in your office? They thought of that, and you can enable location services. Like blue better than green? Go ahead and change that. Do you want to see a different message to get you standing? You can change it.

Don’t want the ads? Great! They don’t pester you with ads anyway.
  • Being the best I can be

Simple and easy to use free reminder app. I have it set to remind me to get up and move for my health every 45minutes. I can set the reminder to happen at any frequency, any day(s) for any duration. I set mine for 7 days a week to go off every 45 minutes from 10am to 9pm. I have chronic illness and my activity has gone from very active to sedentary for over 2 yrs now. Standing and walking are big challenges. By the end of the day, just standing up for 1 minute is hard. This is just the app I was looking for and it’s helping me get stronger and stay healthy by positively encouraging regular movement. 1% better everyday is my goal now.
  • Prompts me even when I’m standing!

This app seemed like a good idea, but it is constantly prompting me to stand when I am already standing. Sometimes I even get pinged when I am out on a walk or playing pickleball! If the Apple stand app on the watch can tell when I’m standing, why can’t your app?? I would use the Apple app except I cannot configure the interval times. It only prompts once an hour. Your app allows me to Configure the interval times, button can’t tell when I’m already up and drives me crazy!! Unfortunately, I am going to have to uninstall this app until that feature is implemented.
  • Perfect!

Many stand timers are just that: timers. They help you see if you have been standing for a certain duration. A clock can be set with alarms at a fixed clock time daily. What you need fir a standing desk is a combination that’s easy to use.

This is it! StandUp! combines a recurring alarm with a timer, and reporting functionality. You can set it to remind you every hour, and don’t have to create alarms for each individual hour. it reminds you when to stand and when to sit, and it allows you to change the duration of standing. Then tells you how well you’ve been doing.

    Great job!
  • Easy interface, chime doesn’t work

I downloaded this app on doctor’s orders to stand up every 15 minutes at my desk and stretch. It’s been a huge help in pain relief. This app is very easy to set up and Program to go off at specific intervals. Unfortunately, I have the same problem as several other users indicate in the reviews. After the first day of use, the sound function no longer works. It’s just a silent pop-up on my phone. So unless I’m staring at my phone all the time, which I don’t, the app is pretty useless to remind me to stand up. I hope this is a simple bug that will be fixed soon!
  • Does what you want it doesn’t get in your way

After downloading many apps very pleased with this one. I’m recovering from surgery which requires I get up every 40 minutes or so to help with circulation. Was able to easily set interval reminders something that apple’s app can’t do The app does exactly what you need with minimal fuss- clear interface, and works well. No intrusive ads, no nagging for upgrades makes me want to support a company. Great job thank you!
  • Stops Working Often

I have it set to remind me to stand up throughout the day every day. It will work for a day or two, and then stop. Today I forgot about it and didn’t stand up all day. Which is easy to do when I’m so busy working on a computer all day. I was looking through my App Library for something else, and saw this app, which reminded me it hadn’t worked all day. I opened it and it said it was still set. If I have to remember to open the app to refresh, then it defeats the purpose of having a reminder. I also paid the tip so it wasn’t free. Would be awesome if it actually worked all of the time. I enjoy standing more when it does work.
  • Simple and Flexible

I have severe ADHD, so my sense of time is basically nonexistent; I really do require the scheduled alerts to even realize time has passed if I’m concentrating on something. I love that I can set this specifically to my office location, and choose not only how often to get up but also for how long. The interface is really straightforward and clean, and I really appreciate that ALL the additional sounds can be unlocked with just the one small purchase.

I’ve only had this activated for half a day and I already feel WAY less exhausted and gross than I usually do. Probably the most successful health-related app I’ve tried so far.
  • Simple app, perfect for reminders to take breaks

It took a bit of searching to find this app, but it’s perfect for what I needed. I messed up my near eyesight from not taking solid visual breaks from my computer over the years. I’m at risk of getting double vision now if I don’t fix my habits. I needed something to get my attention every 20 mins to look into the distance. This is perfect because I can specify weekdays only, start/stop time and intervals. The default noise is perfect because it’s short and simple, so I don’t get sick of it like I would a ringtone.
