  • Not a Good App

The app constantly force closes. Often times I can’t look at the messages “chatter” from the app force closing as soon as I tap to read them, or they simply won’t load. I miss a lot of important team updates/discussions. The app messaging is also very finicky with sending anything other than a text, or reacting to messages.

Moving from screen to screen no matter on your service is always slow and has long delays.

Overall, not pleased at with this app compared to others. I hope the developers make some major updates so the app is more function-able and not a headache to use.

Hi there. We are aware of the chatter bug and we’re just waiting for Apple to approve the update that should make it much more reliable and fix the crash. We’re also working hard to make all the screens much faster and easier to use. Big things are coming. Please bare with us. We are a very small team and we’re working around the clock to improve the app. Please log out of the app and log back in and that should fix your chatter for now.
  • Major glitches

This used to be a fantastic app for our hockey team, but it has gotten progressively more & more glitchy over the last year. The only way to fix it is to delete and reinstall the app. We are barely limping along with it until the end of this season & will be using another app next season.

It is majorly undependable. I sometimes get the black screen of death for hours & there is no way to predict when that will happen nor how long it will last. The only way I’ve found to fix it is to delete & reinstall the app, and even that doesn’t always fix it. It’s not just me. My entire team has the problem. It ranges from being just a pain that causes delays to a logistical nightmare when it happens on game day & I need to communicate with my team. The day I wrote this review was game day. I needed to communicate a time change to my team and put out a call for subs to our league-wide group. I couldn’t do either. For hours. Nor could my alternate captain.

Hi there. Can you tell us what issues you’re having? We recently made some major updates that caused some issues but we’ve been working through them as quickly as possible.
  • Decent but buggy

Useful app but hangs often displaying a white screen. Have to do a hard restart of the app reload. It used to be more stable.
  • I wish I didn’t need this app

I hate this app so much. It is unbelievably slow and takes forever to load simple pages and constantly gets errors. The email notifications can’t be stopped, currently I need to log into the app every single time, and it has the most painful interface that is repetitive and tedious.
  • Update

I just down loaded latest update and my BenchApp no longer works. You touch the app to launch it try’s to open then goes Back to home page.
  • White screen of death, feature-light

This app has potential but for two major flaws—the white screen of death and inability to efficiently manage multiple team schedules.

The app consistently locks up or freezes with a white screen—even more so after the purported fix on the October 12 release. It’s a pain having to restart the app constantly.

A member of many teams, and want to see what your upcoming week looks like? Too bad. You can only really see you schedule one team at a time—there’s a calendar view but it’s tough to use and just takes you to the team dashboard. There has to be a better way to show this information at a glance.

Hi there. Could you reach out to us at help@benchapp.com? We’d love to try working with you to resolve the white screen of death.
  • This app has major flaws

If there is a bug- good luck letting them know and having it fixed. Their support is horrible. I would never pay for the subscription based on the response I received after reporting a bug. Zero stars for this app!
  • Major updates needed, but has potential.

Please add the ability to tag a person. It will make chats so much better.

Update: it would help because you’d have the ability to get the attention of one individual in a chat that has 20+ people typing. It gets chaotic at times and you have to go through an entire chat to find what one person directed to you. It’s just so much more organized this way. I’m surprised I have to explain the reason for it. Get with the times.

Hi David. Would love to hear how you think tagging would work. How would it act differently? Please send feedback to help@benchapp.com Edit: Hey David. We’re familiar with tagging someone, but what I meant was, how would you like to be notified of being tagged? Would it be a separate notification? Would it make you jump to the certain spot in Chatter? Just looking for feedback on how you’d like to see it work.
  • Good Concepts Riddled with Bugs

Good features that make planning useful, but regularly run into bugs like not being able to subscribe or download the schedule
  • Highly recommended hockey manager app

We’ve used BenchApp since we started and a few years ago. I’ve learned many of the features over time. What’s great is the simplicity of the app to add new players to the roster and the COVID check is a plus. The app can always use improvements and that feedback starts with teams managers and players a like to provide them. Kudos to BenchApp!
