Not accurate

I used the app to find the next train - basic! It showed me the later train but not the next one.
Ps. Had a response from the company but no acknowledgment that they actually have a problem and lots of others think that the app is worse

Response from developer

Hi, thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience on this occasion. We always strive to ensure travel information is accurate and provided in real-time. You can check live departing train times via the Live Departures menu option on the app, where earlier and later departures are available.

Can see times and prices, can’t buy a ticket

New to the area. I chose the journey I wanted. There was a list of prices. None of them were selectable or buyable.

Tried to buy a ticket in another app. Needs to be picked up at the station.

What kind of rail company in the 21st century doesn’t have e-tickets?

Response from developer

Hi, many thanks for your feedback. Tickets for travel can be purchased at any Merseyrail station. There are ticket options also available to purchase online and more information can be found at https://www.merseyrail.org/tickets-passes/online-tickets/. Merseyrail are also working in partnership with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority to develop a tap-and-go ticketing system which will be rolled out across Merseyrail’s Northern and Wirral lines. Please check the app for updates about tap-and-go in the near future.

Poor upgrade

A really useful app is now useless for me. I can’t get the train times for same day of travel. It keeps telling me “oops your travel time has passed”?! I definitely have the correct date and future times entered…

Response from developer

Hi, thank you for your feedback. Firstly, we are sorry to read about your experience. When using the app's Journey Planner, you will be prompted to select a new date and time when attempting to search for journeys with a time that has passed. This message should not appear for journeys in the future and we would suggest restarting the app if this happens. Train times for same day travel can also be found in the Live Departures and Station Map sections of the app.

Pointless app. Just use the website.

Allows you to set all these stations as home and work etc but dont seem to be offered them anywhere in the app.

Response from developer

Hi, thank you for your valuable feedback. In the My Journeys section of the app, train times to saved destinations are shown in the Next Trains To preview. However, we will definitely ensure the team take this into consideration for future app updates.

Horrendous downgrade

Why oh why was this ever changed? I’m at a complete loss as to how to use this now. I don’t travel from my nearest station and apparently I can override my Nearest Station to the one I choose but god knows how. I’ve been going round in circles for weeks. Absolute nightmare of an app. Bring back the previous version. Please!!!!

Response from developer

Hi, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to read that you aren't satisfied with the app. You can override your nearest station by tapping My Journeys in the app menu and then tapping edit. If you click your saved Home station on this page, there is a slider option to Override Nearest Station. Make sure to press Save at the top right hand corner to make these changes.

Poor upgrade, app ruined

I have used this app almost everyday for years. Unfortunately almost all the best features have been removed including live departures and live tracking of train journey. If has now become a very irritating app on which to find information that is needed. I can not understand why this excellent app has been ruined.

Hi, Thank you for your feedback. In the latest app update, you can check Live Departures via the app menu. The Live Departures tab shows departing train times from any Merseyrail station. You can also check the live progress of a train's journey by tapping a departing train.

huge step back

i used to be a big user of this app too track trains to and from work each day however since the new version of the app has been updated i am struggling majorly to come to conclusion with the purpose of the changes to which have been made. for example, instead of opening the app and selecting a station like the app used to do instead you have to figure out how to access the time table in a more complicated way. do not recommend the new version, google maps is more accurate!

Response from developer

Hi, Thank you for your feedback. You can track train times by tapping the Live Departures tab from the app menu. The Live Departures feature allows you to select any station to view train times from that station.

Huge backward step

I used to be a great fan and advocate for this app. No more. The most useful features e.g. live departures, live map of train positions seem to have been eliminated (at least I can’t find them) and the home screen even when programmed for regular stations is not to where I want to open the app. Nor can I see how to clear recent searches etc . UI design triumphs over functionality !

Useful feedback received from developer - the features are there but not obvious and need multiple clicks to achieve what was previously much more intuitive. A better help system would be worthwhile. My general comment stands.

Response from developer

Hi, thanks for your time reviewing the latest version of our app. Live departures and the live map of train positions are still available through the Station Map screen, where you can see the departures from any station (use the drop down at the top to change station). From here, you can also see train progress by just tapping on the train departure you require. For more information including FAQs please visit https://www.merseyrail.org/app/.

Nice refresh but loses old features

I’ve been using the new version for my weekday commutes, but there’s been a few times I’ve missed having the live departures feature from the old app, which is the screen I always left the old app on. Pre-setting regular journeys is fine but what about non-regular journeys? Sometimes plans change or a friend asks when their next train is and that’s what the live departures screen was perfect for. I never found selecting a station from a list an issue (especially when it showed nearest and recents at the top of the list?)
Also the old xylophone notification tone now appears to be the default text tone? So there’s no differentiation between a message and a warning that there’s a problem with my commute. I can see how that can cause issues.

Hi, thanks for your feedback. Live departures and the live map of train positions are still available through the Station Map screen, where you can see the departures from any station. You can also use the Journey Planner page to find times and guidance on any journey. For FAQs and more information you may find useful, please visit https://www.merseyrail.org/app/.

Very poor implementation

This app used to work fine. Then they updated it. Now it is confusing, information on trains is not readily available without significant manipulation and adding ‘favourite journeys’ and at least on the iPhone 1/3 of the screen is occupied by a useless banner saying how good the new trains will be. At least it no longer forces an iPad into landscape mode I suppose.

Customer support does not even acknowledge that you’ve contacted them.

Very poor indeed. I’d give it no stars if I could.
