  • Clean house listen to the Economist

Sometimes I don’t have time to read the economist. I just listen to it now When I am walking or cleaning. Then I review it reading it it’s amazing how much I don’t hear when I reread it. The app is fast it is clean and it works well.
  • Great way to start the day

If all you have each day is a few minutes and you’re tired of the 24hrs r new cycle mostly regurgitating the same info all day everyday, the Espresso helps distill the cacophony of news each day into a single powerful update.

While I enjoy reading the short clips each morning I have really come to look forward to the quote of the day. It has been my favorite part for all the years I’ve been reading the Espresso.

I enjoy checking the stories each day in Espresso but I do miss the ability to jump back to a day I missed (especially for the quote). I wish there was an archive of quotes of the day!

  • Written and audio options

I like listening to the World in Brief while waking up in bed. The audio option is not updated frequently enough so I often have to listen to yesterday’s news even though the app written content has been updated. Also main articles on the app often do not have an audio option. If the FT can do it so can the Economist.

  • Dumbed down

What happened to Money and Markets??? TheEspresso has been really dumbed down.
Money and Markets was invaluable! Formerly the articles had more info and gravitas.

The reading level has been lowered at least 4 grades. I have been a subscriber for over 30 years… very disappointing!
  • My reading

I love a quick incisive round up of the breaking news as well as the links. Then I can start on the morning paper, the daily Economist and then the weekly. There’s no time for my cycling, gardening and 101 other things I need to do! as well as those my wife needs me to do!!

  • Great, but could be better

Bite-sized morsels of news, although it should be delivered earlier in eastern North America.
Minor bug: Have a look at a longer article on an iPhone Mini, I’m unable to scroll to the very bottom of the article.
  • Almost perfect

I’ve enjoyed the Economist since the days when a print subscription was the only option, and Espresso was an excellent addition. Getting a quick daily snapshot from a trusted source is good value in my busy life.
To make it more nearly perfect, let me go back a few days or a week so even when I was too busy to check in I can see what I missed. When this feature was available I used it several times a month. Now that I can only see the items from today, it feels like I should look for a news subscription that lets me see back issues. I’d rather that was Espresso.

  • Downgraded

This is a very good summary news app, unfortunately n the latest version you cannot see previous editions of the week, so missing a day means missing the stories without considerable effort to go find them.

That put a significant functionality downgrade in what was otherwise a pleasant upgrade on performance and reliability.

  • What a relief!

The American press has become so extreme and so shrill that it is often hard to listen to. Half is woke beyond reason and the other half finds fascism appealing. The Economist and Espresso are a breath of fresh air. Not only for their depth and breath of coverage but they’re calm headed analysis and delivery.
I listen to the audio versions and prefer the British accents to the American but that’s hardly a dealbreaker.
