  • You really can organise your life

Been using this for a long time and I’m very happy with it. It’s so powerful in how flexible it can to create simple to do lists for a day or track large projects and tasks. I really prefer the upfront cost to having yet another subscription. I used to procrastinate by changing up how I organise things but this app is so flexible and powerful I couldn’t come up with a way to organise stuff for me it couldn’t do. You can setup projects and they can have tasks with checklists, tags, deadlines, reminders, notes or just a simple to do list whatever fits best.

  • Ye old faithful

Things development and new feature updates has been sloooooow. This usually prompts me every year or so to want to try a new app (or dare I say the Apple reminders app). However… every single time I leave, I learn that no one knows how to make a todo list app that I can actually rely on. Most of the other todo apps get the most fundamental features wrong: The tasks are too big so I can only see a few on the same page… repeating reminders disappear (which actually costs me money because I use them for subscription and bill reminders) … no ordering by area… horrible UI decisions for creating and editing tasks … I could go on.

Things does everything you expect in a todo app and it does it reliably. Yes it doesn’t have location based reminders or shared lists… and I wish it did, but I need my todo app to be an extension of my brain and not a hot mess.

Through my many attempts to find the next big thing… I always comeback to Things.

  • The app is fantastic but

Not having a way to access notes on Windows is a huge deal breaker. Not even a web client. Having to purchase additional software to even access your notes on a Mac is not only already absurd, but the price is OUTRAGEOUS.
  • Collaboration

I love this app!! I use it to keep track of just about EVERYTHING - from household chores, to bills, to events, travel plans, when to water my plants, what I have for dinner each night, etc But I would looove to see the ability to collaborate on a todo list. Me and my partner live together and to be able for us both to add things to do and them check them off when the other does them would be extremely helpful. AND it would be nice to be able to add attachments (pictures & other documents).. But besides that, everything about this app is wonderful!! I’ve been using this app for about 6 months, Definitely one of the best to do apps in my opinion, and I love the widget so I can see my todo list every time I open my phone. The $9.99 one time payment is so worth it!! One of my favorite features is the “repeat after this many days/weeks once the todo is COMPLETED” rather than just being everyday or every week, because when I miss a day, the todos don’t stack up and it won’t repeat until you complete the task. I also love how it connects to the calendar app, the way it shows up on the todo list looks so nice.

  • Brilliant

Simple tool that works exceptionally well.
  • Apple Watch integration is bad

There are so many issues with the Apple Watch integration. More often than not, the Things Cloud just complains that it cannot connect, and I’ve tried all of the advanced troubleshooting, none of which works. And that I need to open the app every once in a while to even get it to sync is so inefficient. A lot of this feels solvable by just having our data in iCloud instead; why there’s another cloud solution when the app is only available on Apple devices makes no sense to me.

The functionality and the app is otherwise nice, but would not commit to getting the iPad and macOS versions when I know the sync is unreliable.

  • Great app. Feels like it was made by Apple.

Works wonderfully. I’ve never encountered a bug in either this or the desktop app. I use them together to organize all of my college work and I don’t know how I would remember anything without them. In particular, I like how quickly new tasks can be added. On my Mac I can just press a hotkey to create a new task on the fly, from within any app. This lets me capture tasks as quickly and seamlessly as possible before I forget about them.

Things has a good balance between functionality and simplicity. I’m prone to spending too much time tinkering with task tracking apps, to the point where just managing tasks becomes a task in itself. The simplicity of Things helps prevent this and thereby reduces the amount of maintenance required. The easier the system is to maintain, the more likely I am to stick to it.

It takes a little reorienting to start thinking about tasks in a way that harmonizes with Things, but once you get the hang of it, it’s very powerful. It’s nice to not have anything slip through the cracks.

  • Just Very Pretty. But that's not a compliment.

Just think of Things as a once delightful, engaging and beautiful person who was really good at one thing. Now, in a room filled with other beauties who are a lot smarter, more versatile and more skilled, Things now is just.. pretty. It's basically one-offer personal data-trap, with no backup, no portability, that does nothing but text-based todos and looks pretty. Manual basic todos with a lot of skin moisturising. Pretty face, not a lot of brains. I wouldn't have bought its apps if I knew from the start that the company actually serves highlights on the App Store instead of users. Slowest possible development timeline ever. Stay, if you need not much more than looks.

  • This app literally changed my life

As someone who struggles with adhd, I often find it hard to do the things I need to do. Showering, brushing my teeth, feeding my animals, and cleaning around the house are just a few of the necessary tasks that feel like insurmountable challenges to my poor dopamine deprived brain. I’ve long known the benefits of breaking big tasks and projects down into manageable steps with a to-do list, but I thought to myself… what if I just put literally everything on a to-do list? So, using this app (and it’s MacOS counterpart) that’s exactly what I did, and it has changed my life. I know exactly what I have to do in a day (from big tasks like a whole house deep clean down to little things like eating breakfast and taking a shower in the morning) and my goblin brain desire to check off the little boxes drives me to get everything done as quickly as I can. I’ve never been more productive- I’ve never felt like this much of a functioning adult, even- and it’s all thanks to this app.
As for the app itself, I think it’s really good. Being able to set up repeating tasks is really nice for the mundane things I have to do all the time, being able to sort things into different projects and areas helps me stay organized, and things like headers and checklists within tasks help me break bigger tasks into something more manageable. It’s got everything I need. The fact that it’s not subscription based is a huge plus, too. I highly recommend this app 👍

  • Simple and powerful

I never write app reviews but I can’t overstate how happy I am with this product - even with the large (one-off) fee. I’m a GP in the UK and I have multiple work management, home management and learning goals to prioritise and execute (to be clear, this app is NOT suitable for any confidential information and my clinical work is entirely managed within our secure IT system at work). I’ve been looking for a product like this for a long time but was put off by the cost of Things 3 but I followed other reviewers advice and went online to the website and set up a two week free trial. The set-up process took about three hours to capture and organise all my commitments and I felt immensely relieved at the end of it. After a few days, I was convinced enough to buy the product outright. Two weeks later and my brain no longer has obligations rattling around in it and I’m getting through work at a great rate because tasks are already there to do. I tend to look through the ‘Anytime’ folder at the end of the day and schedule some tasks for the next day. I created several areas for different projects and also a ‘waiting for’ area. Highly recommend this product.
