Love the concept

There is nothing that comes close to this app in terms of the features I would like to have for a pdf reader and annotation tool. The work flow is just incredible. However, the undo function can be extremely glitchy and I will experience the last several ink strokes just randomly disappear/delete. It is not helpful that there is no redo button on the panel either. Highlight is also not appealing on the work space so I tend to never use it. Ink and highlight strokes can benefit from being smoother. Another feature that could be beneficial is the ability to add multiple images to a document at once. Otherwise, I am willing to overlook these inconveniences because I love the app, plain and simple. If these were fixed, it would be completely faultless.

Great App - overpriced subscription model

I have used Liquid Text for, inter alia, annotations and linking with other documents to do my research. It works very well in these areas. However, once my current subscription period expires I will be moving to another app. The annual subscription of GBP 175 per annum to be able to sync in “real time” between devices, is a little rich. I see no compelling reason that would require me to view on different devices, in “real time”, what I am doing on another device. An iPad or laptop has the ability to enable one to link to a bigger screen without having to go via the Liquid text servers. A reasonable subscription of around GBP65 -70 per annum would be more palatable and encourage more users to subscribe - pity.

Powerful note taking, but crashes sometimes

This is the probably the most powerful note taking tool that I found so far. It provides basically everything that a researcher requires for their daily reading. Although the app crashes occasionally.

I want to make several suggestions in terms of functionality:
1. Allowing copy of pens and highlighters can be super helpful. I’d like my quick access tool bar to have multiple pen sets, where the pens have different colors/line widths.
2. Add rectangle/circle tool for selecting a large portion of texts.

Many thanks for making this app. 😊

Buggy

I really love using this app to keep all my reading notes in one place for Uni, but lately it's been really buggy. My iPad version is not recognising my subscription which is super inconvenient when trying to study on the go. Frustrating and upsetting. Considering ending my subscription until this issue is resolved.

Don’t waste your time

I bought this app, it was buggy, even it didn’t help me to finish one research. I reached out the support, but they couldn’t fix the bugs. I’m so happy to delete this app. I can’t believe 867 reviews!
Thank you 🙏

Locking too many features behind paywalls.

The app is amazing, I should get that out of the way first. Large documents do suffer performance issues but that aside, it’s a fantastic app.

However, the issue is now that a lot of features are being kept strictly to the subscription models of the app. I expect this for big or innovative features, but even small features have begun to be shelved into the subscription model. It’s showing a threshold of greed has been reached and when companies reach this threshold, it only goes downhill. It’s been good, but I’m now starting the search into the competitors.

The most used app on my ipad

I’m a lawyer and have used this app for many years. There is nothing else like it and no other app has had a bigger influence on my daily work than this one. I use it daily, it stores all my key documents and notes and has become the central point in my interaction with my work.

The concepts here just really click with me - an infinite canvas onto which you can pull clips of your documents. I always took notes in this way in other apps like OneNote, but the workflow here is so much more focused and efficient than other apps. I also love that you can perform OCR and just type to search text, tags, headings etc.

Absolutely brilliant tool.

Latest Upgrade - Liquid Text

the latest upgrade has made this once go-to app almost useless, it has proved impossible to control the text bloc with the apple pencil, text appearing from adjacent pages, gaps in the text and when trying to isolate a sentence mid-paragraph it just paints the whole paragraph and then jumps to the whole page ... it would be helpful to revert the earlier edition until these real problems are resolved

updated September 2023
upgraded to an overly expensive annual subscription which was ‘lost’ by the app, tech support couldn’t identify if payment had gone thru or not - now it crashes on opening and when finally get it to stay open on maybe third attempt to retrieve work before it implodes completely it crashes three of four times during the process of trying to migrate documents to another app … undoubtedly a fine example with the last ‘upgrade’ of trying to fix something that isn’t broke, it was the ‘go to’ app to do clever things in an intense research program : not now, real shame

Buggy

This app showed promise, but it keeps freezing and can’t read some words/numbers in a document, despite its a PDF with OCR in it. I’ve had other apps that copy and paste better.

When I try use select more than one text to make multiple highlights for auto excerpt, it can’t or won’t pull all highlighted text into one box, in fact it only shows one thing that was highlighted as auto excerpted, but nothing else I highlighted when I used the select more.

When you want to export notes, it has this silly thing of titling ‘object group’ which like, no one wants or needs. So I have to spend my time editing all that out of my notes. So much for a time saver.
Also the notes export options are limited,

It also keeps freezing randomly too. My ipad is less than a year old, so I don’t think it’s the ipad. None of my other apps freeze. Just this one. I hope to see these features improved in the near future. Once these are fixed, I’ll update my review.

A week into liquid text

I have tried many pdf reading apps including inbuilt iBooks, PDF Expert, Good Notes, Documents but have been struggling to collect data from various sources at one place and more importantly compare them side by side or link them. This app has given new enjoyment to my work and I am enjoying it so far. I am still learning and I wish I can access instruction videos easily. It seems like most of the videos are for advanced users and not for the naive ones. Hopefully experience will teach me along the way. Well done liquid text.
