LiquidText User Reviews

Great for research

Fantastic when it comes to research, reading and being able to link information across documents. I have taken some stars off because there are three important missing features for me: 1. the ability to set default excerpt and comment text sizes for each workspace. 2. The ability to adequately format workspace exports for print (for example for open book university exams). Open book often means hard copy only. While I appreciate the paper-free design of the app, there needs to be some efficient way to generate usable legible print outs when needed. Lastly, 3. I have noticed that some LiquidText files get corrupted and become unusable.

Pro app only

It’s basically a copy and paste text tool unless you pay high fees each month. This limits it to companies only really. One of purchase of $10. Maybe would be worth it. Otherwise it just is for copying text.

Best app for Barrister or trial lawyer

Four years ago I reviewed the iPad app and said that it was almost perfect for a trial lawyer. It has only improved since then. Most of the issues have been addressed and they are constantly working to improve it. There really isn’t another app with the same functionality.

Counterproductively buggy

I purchased LiquidText for all platforms when it was first released. It had many showstopper bugs, too many to count. It was fine as a PDF reader, but all projects were corrupted universally. Fighting with the interface was always counterproductive and deleterious to workflow. Old projects would not open or freeze after opening. If an annotation needed to be altered or deleted, then the whole project would become corrupted. These problems have persisted through its inception, and have only become worse since the developers adopted a subscription model to increase revenue. I would have fewer objections if the app worked (I use it on macOS, iPadOS and Windows, all with countless bugs). Be careful when you read the App Store reviews (Apple gets an up to 30% cut of all revenue). App Store reviews highlight what the app claims it can do, while ignoring bugs. If you value your time, productivity, sanity (and your pocket change), then avoid this app. It would be very useful if it worked. Unfortunately, it does not. App Store developers have PR folks who write responses to critical reviews like this, asking people to contact them directly. I have given them feedback directly. Nothing changed.

Not syncing

The app works perfectly fine and fits with the iPad and apple pencile. The only problem is that even though I have purchased the LIVE package, the documents between my devices are not syncing. I have a stable connection and have already tried to delete most of my documents on the apps to clear out more storage for sync, but nothing happened. I have contacted the developers for this issue with evidence, and there are still no fixes to my account.

I was very excited about this program, then…..

I was really excited about the program and it’s capability. I am working on a doctoral dissertation. I invested a great deal of time in building files with projects, pdf journal articles, drawing excerpts, highlighting, using all the tools. Then, I would return to the files later and find they were empty. Zero (0) kb of data. Empty. Gone. Multiple files. I must abandon use of it because I can’t afford the time and energy to risk losing all the work.
I reported the issue but was then asked to perform some complicated steps to give files which should be available to the developers on the cloud in my account. It was too much of a hassle and time investment to then hope a fix could happen.
I’m really disappointed because I love the capability of the program. I just can’t risk the use of it with these glitches.
To add, I have the highest level of service offered with cloud storage and multiple device access.

Worst app I’ve ever downloaded !!!
Seriously, every single action needs the subscription, the app looked so good in the ads but the app is total trash
DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP

The money thing is ruining it

Like most apps, the subscription craze was its death knell. I paid full price for it a year or so ago, but now I have to memorize which buttons I can press and which buttons will launch a plea to “subscribe”. Heck with streaming services, now your supposed to subscribe to pdf editors.

Alas, while this used to be the PDF app to beat, these days, more and more features are being placed behind subscription walls, but the menu items look identical to features you already paid for.

It’s a user-experience dream come true.

“But hey, everyone else does it! And by golly, nobody is gonna beat us in the race to the customer-hostile bottom!”

Remember the. Idea game boycott of the 1980s? Something tell me we’ll see a backlash to all of this nonsense at some point. At least I hope we do.

Until then, well, it’s not a great time to be a software consumer. There/s no such thing as buying an application, and using it to serve your own interests anymore. Now you serve the developer’s interests first, and maybe, just maybe, your own.

Limited Export Options

I would like to be able to download multiple documents at a time in the pdf file and not in the LiquidText format, as the latter can only be opened with the Liquidtext app. Every time I want to download a document from the app I have to open it and export each one of them as pdf. I would like to download these docs to do an external back up but I have too many documents in the app to be able to do this individually. There should be an option that allows me to download multiple documents in pdf format without having to open each one of them.
