Great! Issues to be fixed soon

Absolutely amazing! I’ve used Cesium as a replacement for the gross-looking and difficult-to-navigate Apple Music app on iOS for about a year, and it has been great. The interface is much cleaner and easier to use; it is very easy to organize everything as I want, and it is extremely customizable. I would compare Apple’s Music app to Apple OS Mountain Lion and Cesium to any Linux distribution; they both kind of get the job done, but one is much more efficient and easily editable.

I have had MANY issues recently with delays and the mini-player, but the developer just mentioned that iOS 11 problema will be fixed soon and are on Apple’s end. I trust they will be fixed very soon.
Looking forward to more Cesium updates and an iPad version!

Amazing app!

I've been using the app for a long time now as a replacement to the poor recent design choices of the built in music app. The interface in this one is much cleaner while offering most of the features I'd ever want in a music app. I really like how it is based on the older music app while still having room for customization from the color, to tab positions, to the function of some buttons, the layout of the Now Playing screen, and even the app icon. I recommend this player to anyone who uses music locally or purchases them on iTunes because this is a much better way to interact with it than the built-in app.

Much better than Apple; needs optimizations

Ever since Apple ruined their much beloved music app in recent iOS releases, I’ve been searching for something to replace it. I heard about Cesium but never tried it; I finally made the purchase yesterday. It’s much better than Apple’s music app. Square album thumbnails (so sick of this round/circle photo fad), less white space between album and song entries make this a great design, close to the original Apple app. Lots of customizations. HOWEVER: the app stops responding to button presses.. like hesitation. If you keep hitting the next song button or pausing/playing frequently I’ve found that the app pauses (music doesn’t stop). Try pressing the repeat button over and over.. after several presses it gets stuck. If the dev can resolve this then it would be an A+++ app.

So close to perfect

Everything I wanted from an iOS music player except for one gripe I have, you cant sort the albums that show in the genre tab. It would be perfect if it had the same sorting options that the other tabs do but it has no options and just sorts by album title

PLS FIX DIS

Response from developer

I am in the process of rewriting for iPhone X and iPad. I will double check, but I believe this view *should* now respect the same sort options as the Albums tab proper. Stay tuned!

Nice app design but not a replacement for the music app

I purchased this app as a replacement for the now totally ruined Apple Music app - which I would be quite happy to never use again.
Sadly this app doesn’t allow playlist creation or editing citing technical reasons with syncing with iTunes - personally I think iTunes is aweful (I very rarely use the sync) and would be quite happy if this app just did its own playlist thing, but I’m left slightly lighter in pocket and still no better off.
It’s a shame this app also doesn’t address the gap left my the now missing Apple Genius function - I’ve a large music library and would like a way to help me rediscover tracks I’ve forgotten about, some form of search for rarely played files or perhaps picking random tracks from the same genre I’m listening to would be really useful.
So, a nice player app but sadly not the solution that allows me to relegate to Apple app to help bin.

GUI like the old iOS Music app

Cesium is a near-perfect app. The user interface closely resembles the old iOS Music app before Apple changed it, with one important and positive difference: When you close (not minimize) Cesium, your music continues to play. This allows you to close Cesium and switch to another music player app without interrupting music playback.

Some of the other music player apps which are available today pause the music when you close (not minimize) the app. When you open another music player app, you can continue the song at the point where it was paused.

The iOS Music app (the built-in app) fades out and *stops* the song when you close (not minimize) the app. Now there is “No song playing” so when you open another music player app you *cannot* continue playing the song at the point where is was stopped. This makes the iOS Music app (the built-in app) not my favorite thing.

Do not uninstall the iOS Music app (the built-in app) because Cesium requires it to be present on your device.

Incredible and irreplaceable

Let's be honest here, the highly entertaining release notes alone (which anyone can view from the app store page) are well worth the cost of this app. The fact you get thrown in with that what is easily one of the most polished and functional local music (& iCloud music library if that's your thing) players is just a bonus.
I've had so many moments using the default music app where I've thought "geez I wish this app could do [such and such]", and I've discovered that pretty much every single one of these features can be found in Cesium. I would recommend this app to anyone and everyone whose primary music source is local music or Apple Music.

I do have a short wishlist of features that would make this already stellar app even better for how I use it though;
-3d touch on a song to perform an action (configurable, e.g. show info, go to album, etc)
-Swipe up on now playing screen to open queue, swipe down on top menu bar of queue to go back to now playing screen
-Swipe sideways on mini player to switch between songs

Best library player on the iPhone

First off, this is an app that shouldn’t be needed, but does because a developer took the initiative to fix a problem that Apple created to promote Apple Music: the native Music app is a shadow of its former self when it comes to playing through the music library you’ve been investing time and money in for years. I went looking for an alternative to the native app and found this labor of love by a small developer who loves music and misses the glory days of the music/iPod app.

The app for the most part looks and feels familiar and provides a great way to navigate your library and a great music player. The developer works hard to keep this updated and when there’s a bug (as with the current version) he communicates it clearly. He’s reachable by email and Reddit which is something that can’t be said for most apps. So download it and try it out, and send him some money to show your love.

Best Replacement for the basic Music App I Could Ask For

I originally downloaded this app because I didn’t like how the normal music app looked after Apple Music got introduced. One of my favorite options, view all music by artist, had been removed. So I found this app to be my replacement and I’ve loved it since. It has all the features I want in a music app and it has a good UI too. Hands down my favorite part though is the developer support. This dev really knows what to work on first and is really good about communicating how the app is coming along. I have no clue what’s being changed about half my apps when I update them because they stopped including anything besides “Make sure to keep us updated and thanks for using our app!” Which doesn’t tell me at all if I should care whether or not there’s an update. This developer puts all the notes in the updates and I always get excited when there is an update since I’ll know exactly how the app is coming along and what is changing. 5/5
