  • Great website and app

Just bought my first guitar 3 weeks ago, tried several free online sites which gave me an idea but quickly realised I needed something that would teach me the basics better. Done my research and Guitar tricks was the answer and I am glad I did. At 55 I am amazed how quickly I am picking it up and love the ease of the lessons. Well done

It’s a good app. Good value and lots of good songs to learn. It’s been really useful to get me back into guitar

... but some things could be improved:
    - a refresher course would be useful to review chords and techniques quickly
    - the tab music when learning the songs is tiny and can’t be zoomed into which is annoying (especially when learning more complicated riffs)
    - something that tracks what lessons and what songs you’ve done would be great too
    - tools like a basic guitar tuner or metronome would be a really cool addition.

I’ve only used it for a week. There may be other things too. Overall positive but there are lots of things that could be done to improve this further.

  • From zero to infinity

I knew nothing about guitar a year and a half ago, but I always thought it would be something I would want to learn someday. So finally, after deciding that I spent too many winter evenings watching Netflix, I bit the bullet on a $200 guitar and bought the gt app. I Worked through all the lessons in fundamental 1 and 2 in 6-8 months. i have been playing songs ever since and learning more each day. Guitar tricks continues to offer song lessons at easy to advanced levels so I know that as I improve, I will never get bored. After a year I decided I liked playing so much I bought a $2,000 Taylor guitar which I love. I will tackle the advanced fundamentals when I decide on a direction. But meanwhile, I’m having too much fun learning songs. I get a little better every day.

  • Excellent Site

I’ve had Guitar Tricks for about three years and it has really improved my skills and song learning. I’ve tried a few others but I believe that the song library and versatility along with the top notch instructors make this the best. If you want to approach learning songs the right way, this is the app for you. I record on a multitrack so learning all guitar parts are crucial and this does it. Also it teaches all types of skills and techniques which I really need. I usually use it at home on my desktop but when away from home this keeps me practicing. Guitar Tricks is constantly adding new material, instructors, and songs. This is a 5 star all the way.

  • Other instruments?

Hi I just got the app and most of the videos are acoustic and electric, I have an electric guitar but I mainly focus on my ukulele, do you guys have any videos on that, I wanted to pay for the subscription but there’s no point if I can’t learn the instrument I want, also whenever I choose a song to learn on the electric they all say “upgrade for full access” are there any free lessons or a sorting button for free? I just want to see how the instructors teach on the app to see if I like it, other than that it’s a pretty good app.

  • Good app but navigation is a killer

This is a great app and a good way to put the series together, there are however two significant problems and they are:
Navigation, there is no way to see where you left off, there is a “last lesson” button but this is useless when you are at the end of a section as you still have to go back to the main menu where you are presented with the long list again.
Printing, there is mention of printing but there is no way to print without going to the web site (leave the app). However, printing would not be needed at all if the tab was to scroll with the song.

So my recommendations would be to have something in the lesson list to tick what you have complete and highlight your last lesson.

Add music sheet scrolling in the songs to remove the need to print.

  • Fast

It was to fast for me to learn from
  • Ok

The app is pretty good itself but most of the songs require some special equipment. Recommended for beginners, and songs are pretty good, just some minor details missing
  • Beginner Lessons to be free

Looking for a free guitar lessons sorry
  • Amazing learning system but poor app

I am loving this program for learning guitar however I am frustrated with the app and so I wanted to provide some feedback. I am having a hard time with the navigation. When I finish a series I don’t know how to get to the next one. Also if i close the app and return I can’t figure out where I left off. I see the history but it isn’t linked back to lessons so it is not very useful. There is also no way to save favorite lessons like I can on my computer. If these abilities mentioned above are present they are hard to find or understand. There are also some really great features in the app as far as how the screen is split so you can see the words, music, and teacher. Thanks for a great learning program and I look forward to an improved app as I intend to continue with this program for a while.

    Developer Response

Hi there. Thank you for the feedback. We're currently working on the iOS app and making improvements. When you finish a tutorial, you can always go back and jump into another one via the "CLOSE" button. The "HISTORY" button will show you a simple list of all the tutorials you watched, with the most recent ones at the very top. Are you saying that your HISTORY shows nothing? We do not have every feature on the app like we do on the website, but this is something we're working towards. If you have more feedback, please let us know here: admin@guitartricks.com
