  • Extremely satisfied

Been using the app for a total of about 5 months, and can confidently say that I am a better guitar player than some of my friends that have played for years.

When I play in front of people, they usually ask me how I learned so quickly and I show them this app.
  • Like having a real-world teacher. A terrible real-world teacher.

Put simply: this is one of the most aggravating, annoying apps I’ve ever used. It doesn’t really you what you did wrong, and it wastes your time. Instead of taking the time to fix your mistakes during many of the “progress-bar” based lessons, it just takes progress away and screws you over, as a post to taking the time to help you play the freaking chord. It feels as though they were giving out they’re app for free, so they saved their own time, by having these problems. But you know what? It’s one of the only free guitar teaching apps that’s even the slightest bit good, so, many people come crawling back to this, and guess what! I probably will too, and get ticked off all over again. Pay for Yousician or something, unless you like this then good for you! You probably knew guitar previous, unlike Me, who thought this highly regarded app could teach how to play with causing so much annoyance. Try it, if you feel so inclined, but I don’t recommend it.

  • Fantastic

I’d been using another learn-to-play-guitar app for a while, but became increasingly frustrated with its hit-or-miss feedback system.

Uberchord’s feedback system, by contrast, is extremely accurate, and their overall system (using real songs - instead of silly toy songs - as the basis for learning chords and rhythm) provides excellent motivation and makes me want to play more and better.

I experienced a small problem with the app and used the in-app feedback to submit a bug report, and they fixed it within 24 hours, without requiring a new download. That kind of turnaround means the app is well-designed and that the developers are proud of their work. As they should be.

  • BEST THING EVER!!!!!

PLEASE consider making a Ukulele version now!

Now that that is out of the way, this app is great. It actually works. It didn’t seem to work very well using the speaker but is flawless using my irig. The developers actually listen and update the app regularly. I just REALLY wish they added ukulele support!

  • It’s great! Can use some added features (maybe I’m just dumb, though.)

So I very much enjoy the app, I have been using it for only two days, but it keeps me motivated and pushes me to keep trying to learn something despite tender fingertips. I plan on purchasing a subscription for the app, but I wish it had two added features.
    1. A legend somewhere in the app where you can acess the meanings of different symbols, I know the downstroke “U” sorta thing, but there’s a “V” symbol that I don’t know. I am sure that there’s various other symbols I will encounter and not understand. Keep in mind I am a new guitar player.
    2. A sort of icon that you could press that goes over the instructions of the selected lesson. Other types of programs (not guitar related) have a sort of “i” up in the top corner or so, often ecliped in a circle. Having the aid of a refreshed instructions guide would be immensely helpful. There’s a certain lesson where I don’t know if I should keep strumming or not, and if I had that I would understand, or if I simply had better brain cells...

Thank you, if you all read this and find any helpfulness from my review. I am sure to find some more great things about this app.

  • Nice interface but poor performance

I really really want to like this product. The interface is beautiful and the mechanics are very nice and intuitive, optimized to be used in the small iPhone screen. However, the note recognition system appears to be lacking... I registered for the 7 day trial and was considering continuing to use the app later on but decided to cancel my subscription because of this. Often the app does not recognize the chord (believe me, I know it was impecable) and causes you to continue in the same level for ages... making the experience frustrating rather than fun.

A side note is that this app should really have a proper iPad port...

The app definitely has potential but feels incomplete. Specially given the price they ask for it. It is more expensive than Yousician which is a far more mature app.

I look forward to try this app again in the future. I’m sure it will be among the best

  • Disappointing

I had high expectations but the app does not even hear my guitar correctly. I can play a chord correct and it will make me play it over and over again cause it thinks it’s wrong. Or it will tell me to stop playing a note on one string when I’m not even touching that string. The exercises are lame and it is not applicable to real songs. Maybe if you get further up you will start to learn more but there are better apps out there than this.

  • No Better Than This

Forget other chord dictionaries. This is the ultimate. Also, instantly know what chords you are playing regardless of what fingering you do. Great for songwriters. Helps you to stop relying on the same old chords. Lots of great guitar lessons too. This is a new kind of app. It is useful, not just another guitar app. Not another like it.

  • The most advanced technology ever

This app has the most advanced technology on guitar ever. Very intuitive and learns your weak points and leads you to the easiest and quickest way to learn. Also very fun to practice since it has great drums jam tracks etc. You will never get bored practicing and like to play more. I highly recommend it. I am 61 years old and has no affiliation with the developers. This is an honest review .

  • Lost legacy paths(FIXED)

I’ve had uberchord since the very first updates and was a very faithful user for quite some time. Although I had stopped before the new subscription plan had come out I was still happy to know that uberchord would let me use the old legacy paths and that I could return to finish them if I wanted. However after going on the app recently, I was very disappointed to see that these legacy paths had been removed from the app completely. I would sincerely appreciate it if I could get access to these paths again and would continue my use of uberchord if that happened

Edit: I don’t know what happened but after logging into the app again after three days the old legacy courses were back. Thanks uberchord very much for creating such a quality app for guitar!

    Developer Response

Hi MusicMan, if you had any progress in the legacy courses you should still have access to them. Can you please send an email to support@uberchord.com. Let's sort this out. Thanks. Simon.
