It won’t stop begging

It keeps begging for permission to send notifications.

I’ve declined 4 times now, and the nags continue. Sure, I could accept and then disable them in iOS, but why can’t it just accept no and let me continue my course?

This is a paid business service, not TikTok, right?

But Dave, I hear you say, notifications are useful? Maybe. Probably not. But just in case I already enabled them on my phone. Literally nothing gets to nag me on my iPad, this includes you Udemy.

Constantly asks for authentication

Almost every time I try to use the app it asks me to sign in. The single sign on experience is awful.

App supposedly fails to sign in and when trying to sign in again it somehow works without credentials.

App is incredibly slow when loading anything, including videos, resources and quizzes. This makes it incredibly hard to maintain focus while a significant amount of time is spent looking at a blank screen or loading screen, which makes this a poor learning tool.

Decent content, very poor app

I love the content on Udemy, but it’s just frustrating that these contents must be served by such a poorly made app. Every time I minimise the player (by swiping down) to keep it playing and come back, the video will be paused! It’s very disruptive. The only way to play these video on Apple TV is actually only playing them on this app through AirPlay, and there is actually a Udemy TV app with just one single page asking you to download the phone app! But the AirPlay feature is just another mess. All the AirPlay videos on other apps have been fine to me, but only on Udemy, those videos which could be loaded on my iPhone won’t load on my Apple TV randomly. It fails 5 times out of 10. There are even more design failures, such subtitles staying on the phone while the video is being played on the TV. It’s so sad that those instructors on Udemy devoted so much effort to make fantastic content, but their audience has to be stuck in this badly made app. They deserves a better platform, and we do as well

Some good and bad

The content is great. The casting is straight up broken and they don’t seem super interested in fixing it which is disappointing.

Suggesting a Feature

It would be better if there was an option to create folders. This will help us group our courses

Disappointing app

The courses are for the most part good (there are exceptions as with any online training provider).

But this app.. it’s been a bugfest for ages and nobody seems to take any notice. It won’t even let me log in any more, tells me it can’t connect to the server.

Maybe the developers should check out the swift programming course on the Udemy app.. oh wait..

(Yeah I know, Udemy.. reinstall it and email your support mailbox)

Sync

I had to sign out and register again to sync my work content

Good app but not great

Decent amount of content but struggles when it comes to keeping audio synced, and it’s 50/50 chance when I lock my phone and try to play audio. If a new Bluetooth device connects the app loses its mind and takes a phone restart to work properly again. Also it’s quite common it replays the last video if I exit the app even if I’ve completed it!

AirPlay not working

AirPlay is not working from the iPad. It just spins. If I try screen mirroring instead and play the video from there, I can hear the audio, but the video only says it's playing on AirPlay, which isn't correct because the video isn't playing (it only displays the course's title image). If this isn't supported, at least show an error message rather than have it spin indefinitely.

To compare, the regular Udemy app (non-Business) is working fine on AirPlay.
