Best SUP Paddle App

I’ve been using the app for months and I LOVE it. I tried using other apps including the built in app and they all pale in comparison. It’s great being able to look down at my watch and see so much info. Also the fact that it updates my rings, I compete with my cousin and a friend and having paddling count as my workout is great.
Lastly the developer is super fast at fixing bugs and responding to email. I shared one yesterday and there’s an update with a fix today. Seriously, it’s less then 24 hours.
Go spend the few dollars, pesos, yen, pound or sheckles, you won’t be disappointed, I promise.

Response from developer

Hi Jeb, thanks for the kind words! Great spot on that bug and glad we were able to rapidly find and sort it!!! Happy Paddling!!!! Don't forget to share some of your epic routes! You will find a community to join under the more tab in the App if you want some extra motivation to beat your family & friends!!- Cheers

Great produce

The only thing I would suggest is maybe having a trigger to stop the timer. I forget to turn it off and would like to see the gps notice when I start reaching about 30mph and turn off. Maybe even back up to a predetermined default. (10 min, 15 min) etc. don’t get me wrong, the app is a great! Would just like to see this added to make it a bit more dummy proof :). Thanks.

Difficult to delete things

Deletes everything you don’t want to delete and keeps the one you want to delete. I lost 5 trip logs. Is there anyway to bring them back?!?!

Response from developer

Hi there, would love to help you out with this issue. If you could get in touch from within the app, or e-mail us at help@paddlelogger.com we can find out what is happening! Thanks!

Could be awesome with some improvements

It does what it was meant to do with a elegant interface and a value cost. It would be a great app (and an even greater value at $5.99) with the following improvements. Fix the watch app. I could start my paddle on the watch, but not stop it. I have to stop it on the iPhone. It took me a while to figure out where the setting was to change km to miles. If the settings button was more clearly labeled, that would be in keeping with an already beautifully simple and elegant interface. Looking forward to these improvements.

Updated review: my criticism regarding the kilometer/mile setting being difficult to find has been addressed in the latest version. I’m impressed at the developer’s attention to his customer’s feedback. I have yet to see if the watch app problem has been fixed. But for the improvement and dedication of the developer, I’ve bumped my review up to 4 stars.

Response from developer

Hey there, thanks for your positive review. We have had some issues with the Apple Watch and while it is taking some time - we feel we are making progress. With regards to your settings suggestion. It would be great to have some feedback on how this could be improved. Please do get in touch at info@paddlelogger.com - We have some ideas, but always keen to hear from users! Thanks. Updated Response: Awesome thanks for updating your review! Please make sure you have updated the iOS/WatchOS and Paddle Logger to the latest versions. Thanks!!

I use this app every time I go kayaking

The paddle logging works great and I appreciate the ability to start the timer from my watch so the phone can be stowed. I do wonder about the accuracy of the workout logging, since I have a paddle drive kayak. If there is a difference in effort/workout between paddle and peddle kayaks, it would be awesome to be able to toggle between the algorithms in the app and have a setting to set one as default.

Great app and even better customer svc

I paddleboard many mornings and this app has become indispensable for tracking my daily paddles to compare and contrast speed and course. When I had questions about the app and suggested some tweaks, the developer responded very quickly and was very receptive. There is a beauty in simplicity and I find this app does just what I need it to do, log my paddles.

A suggestion for splits

Hi there - enjoying using paddle logger and I like the interface. One thing I’ve recently noticed would be really useful is the ability to see my splits by km
Currently the only way I can see to do this is manually marking each split, which is not ideal when I’m out to sea in a roaring southerly!
As a result I’m having to use the a running app which automatically takes splits every km - which is obviously not ideal.

Could you think about adding the ability to set an automatic split length in the settings?

Many thanks
Dave

Hi Dave sorry it has taken a while to respond. Absolutely - we will be introducing this in the future! Thanks

Best app ever!

I love this app! It tracks very well and shows speed which I love. I also think the way it displays the information it collects is great! You have a chart or a map which is perfect! I can’t recommend this app enough. The only thing I would change is picture feature. I hate that I have to accept the picture and save it in order to take another. My camera on my phone is easier but then I am out of the app which can make me forget to push stop when I exit. But other than that this is by far the best app!

Great app, but....

Love this app. It’s easy to use, has great functions and features, and gives you great details on your workouts. With that said I have encountered a few instances where the app does not track a workout, or you will experience a work out error, and it will erase all details of that workout. This can be incredibly frustrating if you’re like me and want to look back over a workout when you’re done. Out of 11 work outs with the app, I’ve lost about 4. When it does work, it works 100%, but I wish it worked 100% of the time.

Can improve with simple mods

Overall the app is great when you are on the water. However, the developers need to focus on the basics. 1. When you start the app, it refuses to let you log unless you turn your gps settings on the app to “Always”. That’s right, not “only while using the app”, you have to select “always”. 2. The app also does not let you start logging until you allow it to modify all your health settings. I am using this on a iphone and do not have an Apple Watch, so I could really care less about the health settings. This should be optional for the user experience and not have a bearing on my health stats.
