  • Needs improvement

First the app functions for ease of use. But it needs a tablet/iPad specific app. And on phone and tablet while watching already recorded video, I am unable to view it in landscape, only portrait. So, the video is just as small almost as watching it in the camera itself, which is pointless.
  • Problems watching videos on iPhone X

Hi I'm an YI 4k+ and I have problems when I tried to see videos on my iPhone X, when I try to forward or rewind the video I'm unable to do because of the iPhone screen is large and the video play button and the length video bar is near to the switch app on iPhone X. They made the app just for regular iPhone with home button.
  • Sad about the update

This app worked okay for a while, a few glitches here and there, but since the latest update I haven’t been able to link to my camera. I would connect to the WiFi, and it would say “linking” and then the screen would go black and the app closes. Please fix this, I really want to get the footage on my phone!!
  • Why is my app crashing all of sudden???

It will connect to the camera then after it says linked it crashes! This is absolutely frustrating because this is how I’m able to see my videos and download them to my phone. Please fix this problem because it’s obviously the app having issues all of sudden. I haven’t had problems with connecting the app to my phone to use the camera through my phone. So that’s why it’s a 3 Star right now.
  • Decent but limited

I don’t really care for the use of WiFi to connect to the camera, since you can only have one WiFi connection going at a time; Bluetooth would have been better. But this is probably a limitation of the camera, not the app. There are also some limitations that are probably part of the firmware, like not being able to select any interval for a time lapse (why 1, 2, and 5 sec but no possibility for 3 or 4, for instance). The app is a pretty convenient way to control the camera at least, especially from a second, unused phone that you don’t use for phone things.
  • Complaints

First of all I don’t write reviews. I’m only writing this because people are having issues pairing the camera to be phone and viewing is on the phone. It gives you directions on how to set it up. Connect with it through WiFi open the app and follow instructions. It prompts you to turn off the cellular assist through the cellular menu and turn off access and it works. And the clarity is just of that of a GoPro (had one and got rid of it because I never used it) and I purchased the lite. Can’t wait to try this out.
  • Live preview issues

I had the same issues reported with live previews as other reviewers. However, I have found a workaround:

Disable your phone’s cellular connection or disable cellular data for this app. Leave only the WiFi connection to the camera enabled.

When I did this, the preview stream connected instantly. I suspect the app is trying to use the cell data to connect to the live stream and WiFi for all other functions in the current version. I’ve reported this to Xiaoyi support and hope they resolve it soon.

In the meantime, this is an annoyance but I can work around it. The app otherwise seems to be fine. Hope the developers can fix this bug soon so I can increase my rating. The latest version did not fix this bug
  • Play Stream Fails on iPhone X

This used to work. But now, the iPhone X keeps giving errors that the Play Stream fails. Basically, you will not be able to see the live (with half second delay) video from the camera.

You can still control it, but no preview. This works on iPhone 7+. Please fix and update this, as without this app, the camera is not very useful.
  • Good but has some issues

This is for a Yi Lite paired with an iPhone 6S. Useful app for adjusting settings remotely. However, my phone is unable to see the preview of the image no matter what I do.

It does work on my iPad, so I’d say that the developers need to sort out an issue that influences some devices and not others.
  • Good but confusing when firmware download

I connected to camera, but wifi not done downloading firmware. The prompts should’ve been clear on when to connect wifi and when to connect camera for updates.
