Great app + customer service

I’ve tried a few productivity timers, and settled on this one. It doesn’t feel like it gets in your way, has a nice clean UI and it’s made a big difference to my work productivity.

I also found the syncing worked fine for me - that is until one day my employer disabled iCloud Drive syncing on my work machine. This caused a problem with loading my Focus subscription, but when I emailed the devs they were extremely helpful and got my issue sorted out very quickly.

Great app

Had some bugs in the past, but the latest updates fixed it.

The app is easy to use and I really like being able to see the statistics on my focus and break times.

No free option anymore… do not update

Update: I don’t know what they’re saying about grandfathering in users. Or features still being there, they’re not. Currently (8/19) you literally CANNOT start the timer your phone. It says “read-only”. The response disingenuous at best. I don’t mind paying but the price is not worth it especially when they break the trust of its client base.

Og review:

Classic switchroo, used to have a free option without the bells and whistles but now paid subscription ONLY. And if anything they made the Apple Watch app less functions, the interface more “busy” looking/distracting, and not as useable. Few previous iteration you can long press pause/start/skip for example. Instead now you can accidentally press skip or something when you slide down. Or you accidentally scroll down and the timer is hidden from view (on the watch) There are cheaper and better alternatives (that I’ve paid/bought). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ moving on. Byeeeee

Basic version now requires subscription

I understand developers should make money, and I would be happy to pay a one-time fee for the basic features that used to be completely free. But I’m not going to be paying an ongoing subscription for the basic pomodoro timer feature that I need and a bunch of features that I would never use.

Get this app! You’ll be more productive!

This app really lives up to its name: it helps me to focus, with timed work blocks and rest blocks. Also, I love that it syncs between all of my devices, so that I can start it on my computer, leave my office for a coffee break, and the timer continues on my watch and phone.

Recently after two years of perfect functioning, I had a small glitch between devices. I emailed the support team and they responded in minutes. Very helpful, friendly, and resolves my problem. So, I was back focusing in no time. Thanks Focus team!

You have one job! Reliably track focus sessions!

I like the design of the app, the intent, the features, etc.
But, it has a fatal bug that just never seems to get fixed. I’ve tried working with support, nothing.
I start a focus session using Shortcuts, and the app starts the countdown. But about 20% of the time, the countdown just resets a few minutes in. No notification, just goes back to 25 minutes. I have to either pay attention to see if this happens and start it again (thus BLOCKING my focus, not augmenting it!!), or I just lose a focus session. Frustrating and annoying, and if I’m paying you money regularly I expect better support than I’ve gotten.

Hi Patimen, I'm very sorry for the bug! We've switched to a completely new iCloud sync with the last update and it should now work like a charm. If you have any questions or feedback for the new version, I'd love to hear from you! --> support@meaningful-things.com Best wishes - Kerstin

Best App I've ever used for productivity.

Make sure you subscribe. I've been using it for a few years. It has genuinely improved my productivity tenfold

Response from developer

Pointless

Would not let me use the timer unless I signed up for premium subscription. Just a waste of time to download it.

Response from developer

Hi, yes, Focus is not a free timer app, but requires a subscription. A quick question to help others to find the right app: why did you expect the timer functionality to be free? I would really appreciate if you could send me a quick response via support@meaningful-things.com ! Thank you in advance! - Best wishes, Kerstin

Helpful app

I find this app really helpful. It condenses a method and timings into a process that I don’t have to organise for myself, which is a win! I would procrastinate from organising my time as well as my work without it 😊 would recommend!

Response from developer

Thank you so much for your kind words! :) We're happy to hear that Focus is helping you to stay on track and beat procrastination. Have a happy and productive New Year! Best wishes, Kerstin
