  • My favourite card games, perfect for social play

My friends and I were looking for a place to play cards together during Covid lockdowns. We jump on a zoom call, log into Trickster Cards, and it's just like playing in person. The app is perfect for us. Especially being able to customise the rules.
  • Play and Stay with pointless bots Nope

Adding the play and stay is pointless when I want to play with actual people rather than bots. I should be able to leave a game that is all bots and not be hit with a 3 minute wait to join a new game in hopes of playing with real people. If the number of actual people players were displayed this wouldn’t be an issue. If one exist player is a person I should also be paired with them in multiplayer games not against them. The bots are disappointing to say the least when playing Pitch.

  • Like trick games? This is what you need.

Been playing this for over a year, mostly hearts and spades, but it has Bridge and Euchre and other trick games too. Haven’t had any problems and enjoy all the games have rules and ability to make house rules.
  • Great for playing with friends across the country

We moved 1200 miles from our best friends and were worried about how to stay in touch. We play cards with the Trickster app with a Facebook video link. It works great and w are playing at least once a week. Great app with great features.
  • In need of Bot Programming!

So to start off, this is my fav app. I used it every day. However I only wanted to rate it a 4 in hopes of the developer noticing it.

The bot for bid whist has had some change happen to it in the last month. When playing a NO, and it’s the bots turn to lead, if it has a joker, it will play it! Which essentially gives your opponent the chance to lead and control the suit in play. This did not always happen until recent. Please address!

  • Honestly grateful for this app

When COVID hit and we realized that my 80+ year old cancer survivor mom and father-in-law were both going to be very isolated for months, I hunted around for a way to play cards with them online. This app/website has been a godsend. That we can chat while playing is so important; and the interface is intuitive enough that it is easy to get both into a game. And we’ve even learned a few new games to enjoy together! Thank you, TricksterCards.

  • Pinochle

I have only used for pinochle but really like the app for playing with invited friends. Lots of variations of the game so was essentially able to play a version like we Normally play. When playing in practice mode the program, the built in moves are sometimes non sensical such as play ace of trump for first trump even if could have played a lower trump to win the trick. Also, when playing in pass mode preprogrammed keeps parts of pinochle even when naming clubs or hearts trump. Would like to be able to change self level of play rating as well, But these are limitations can deal with. Love the program.

Also play hearts and euchre. So many more I want to learn and play. Great app.

    Thank you.

  • Would be 5 stars but for the bot

This review is only for the bridge game. The graphics are wonderful, couldn’t be better and if you are playing with friends, Trickster is fabulous. BUT, if you are playing against the computer and/or use a bot in the game, it is a disaster. Both the bidding and the play of the bots bear no semblance to even a beginning bridge player and certainly no resemblance to SAYC as claimed. Bots’ bidding is ludicrous; e.g., an opening bidder bot opened 5 clubs with three clubs, a balanced hand and 11 points; the play is equally poor.

  • Lifesaver during Covid!

For nearly two years, I have been playing Spades with my 93 year old mom in NH, 91 year old aunt in FL, and daughters in VT and OH. We have played 5 days a week and have enjoyed the connection and ease of use. We have not had success with the video feature, it’s too buggy. But, we use zoom or FaceTime for checking in and audio while we play. I play on a laptop, but others use an iPad and even an iPhone. And, having the Bots always available when someone can’t make it, is a great feature. (The Bot names frequently give us a laugh.)

It was great when you added the “watch” option. Now if we have extra family members, they can still be involved.

I also play Bridge weekly with friends. We so appreciate that we have been able to stay connected during our covid isolation!

Even when we are past covid, we will continue to use this app regularly. In fact, I play Bridge daily in the “practice” option.

    Thanks for this wonderful app!

  • Does not bid correctly

I use this to play bridge with far away family, and it is wonderful. We meet on Zoom and play cards.

My one big gripe, however, is that I cannot set the bidding conventions when I practice. It also means that we cannot let a bot sit in when we cannot find a fourth.

I have been playing bridge casually for years, but never competitively. Everyone I have played with has used mostly natural bidding, with a few conventions like Blackwood.

What this app needs is the ability to turn off SAYC bidding, and to then to pick and choose other common conventions.

To keep it simple, I would have a choice of SAYC and classic. If you do not know what classic is, ask your grandparents, or anyone who grew up playing the game.

Consider it this way. I want to teach my wife, who does not take cards too seriously, to play. And the best way would be for us to be partners against the computer, or to each play with a bot as our partner. But to do this, it needs to bid naturally.
