Most mediocre browser for iPhone

I don’t understand why Firefox for iOS is so behind on virtually everything. I mean, no innovation on anything. Brave, for instance, offers a playlist that allows you to play music outside the browser; it also has a native script and ad blocker that prevent you from relying on third parties. Firefox, on the other hand, offers nothing but a rather mediocre strict tracking setting that makes no difference when browsing, as you can still see every single ad suffer all arbitrary redirections. I mean, do the developers ever ask themselves why anyone would use their mediocre browser on an iPhone? And don’t tell me that it is Apple’s fault. That’s a lie, considering that Brave managed to do all the things I previously mentioned on iPhone and without relying on extensions. If Mozilla’s goal is to lose their users, well, they’ve done a great job at that. Not only did they destroy Pocket, but they also delivered the most irrelevant browser for iPhone. I want to support you guys, but Firefox for iOS is an extremely lazy and mediocre product.

Firefox is not my love anymore

This is a shame to see Mozilla and Firefox like this. Back in the day when they were ambitious and wanted to create their own mobile OS, they used to have the nicest of designs, awesome products and much more, these days I don't want to look at their products, as they smell bored and disinterested corporate designs, just look at the tab shadows in the desktop version, menu icons in the iOS app, they used to have the most beautiful icon on the planet and now it is a ugly flat design sitting on a very sadly ugly dark background that I just hate to see on my dock. And this is while browsers like Arc exits and they are making their products more and more beautiful everyday with love and care. Chrome, in all of its evillessness is so nicely designed that I have to controll myself from using, and the only product on the planet that used to be for the freedom of web is now so adandoned by the very company that makes it that you can feel it. If you are hearing this, please please bring back love and passion to Firefox, it is not what we were in love with and I really hate to see it like this. I still long to be a Firefox user, but one that is made with love.

Lacks standard bookmark sorting!

There is no capability to move a bookmark and click-drag it into a folder, let alone a way to select muliple bookmarks on ipad (cntrl click and shift click) then drag into a folder. The simple functions of bookmark sorting and organization do not exist and its unacceptable in this day an age. No one seems to care about making a product work like it should, they only care about the basic foundations to pull a user on to there other platforms to make profit. Its disgusting. Fix the bookmarks and add manual sorting capabilities.

response to Devs:
I don;t beleive in that post your idea nonsense, that is just a cop-out excuse to give companies a reason not to implement a foundational idea that is needed. Just throw everyone’s idea into the idea graveyard and if enough ppl want it we think about it. i miss the good old days when you just sent feedback to the devs and if they liked the idea they added it. no one was lazy back then and were all about making thinks better not finding ways out of doing something. plus my idea is not something to be voted on its foundational to the app, the desktop version on all browsers not only firefox have this ability so should firefox mobile.

Love the lack of ads !

Its refreshing using a browser that blocks ads. Not all sites work well unfortunately but more than enough to get 4/5 stars ! Thanks !

It's a browser!!

It's a browser. It lets you view webpages. However, on install it also switches in several spyware features such as running studies on your browsing, and also sending all of your usage data... you can switch this off in settings, but for a browser that claims to put the user first, this shows Mozilla bullsh1t the same about privacy as everybody else. There is NO such thing as anonymised data in the browser world... you are a fool if you believe otherwise. Mozilla shouldn't have spyware switched on by default. Also, still no ability to switch off the very, very annoying autozoom on form fields. it wouldn't be so bad if it unzoomed once the input field is left, but I guess that actually would be helpful, and let's face it, at this stage, browsers aren't designed to put the user first, instead prioritising the website's providers. Just another example of individuals being deprioritised to the technology allegedly built to serve them. Mozilla suggests they put people first, but they don't. Software literally allows you to offer every conceivable option to users of it, so that it can truly serve each individual's needs, but that's not what we get. Anybody is welcome to disagree with me, but as a software developer with 45 years experience, now developing software for governments etc let me tell you: you're wrong. The people who ask us to write this software, don't want users to have choice. How would they control your actions then?!

Opening links in the default browser doesn’t work

Really want to make the switch from Chrome, but unfortunately there’s some basic functionality missing from this app that makes its use tedious. 1. The biggest problem is there is no way to open links from external apps in Firefox. For example, opening a link from Google Maps by clicking the default browser button in the button right (or even through sharing it to Firefox and tapping “open in Firefox”) simply doesn’t work. It will swap to the Firefox app but the link does not open, it just stays on the last tab previously opened. 2. Some smaller things like not having easy access to a new tab button or a gesture to quickly close a tab make the app frustrating to use. Passwords frequently don’t autofill, and when they do about half the time the form doesn’t actually register that the fields are filled and won’t allow you to submit the login until you manually type them in. Edit: removing another star. Even links from apps like email won’t open in Firefox, meaning any time you want to open a link you have to manually copy and paste it. This behavior makes the browser nearly unusable. Hopefully it’s sorted out in the future, but for now, I won’t be using Firefox.

Wacky Browser

You can’t customize it or add extensions/enhancements because even after you download the recommended app by Firefox it still doesn’t recognize. I really getting sick of mobile app because they are so horrible and like half working. It has been long enough now that the lazy developers so have improved them to the level of regular desktop. They don’t so they can hide their crappy codes in like this one . Still they best browser that is user friendly and customizable to any way you want is the Brave browser!!! UPDATE! I don’t use support forums because they do not work ! This will be the third time 2 years I have tried and been disappointed by this app that We need a app that we do not have to go to school and study browsers to work . You have to many people making stuff and it ruins the experience for everyone. Now on the homepage it tells me to download Mozilla and when I do it tells me download Firefox!
I can’t have any favorites on my homepage unless I use Firefox and it just the last 10 websites I looked at ,this has taken up way to much time and without any support I give up . I just going to just delete it again maybe come back in another year

Good but a few annoyances

I’ve recently noticed what I think might be a bug, and can be replicated. If you already have a website open, then close the app, open it up again, on a blank page, it automatically replicates the already open website.

Two fixes I would like to see.

First, regarding custom dictionaries. when you got to search or type a link. If the starting letter is the same as a word in your custom dictionary, Firefox will auto fill, which is annoying.

Second problem, more so when you are trying to perform a long string search. If you’re in the middle of typing and you accidentally touch above the letters on the keyboard. The keyboard disappears and also the search text too.

mouse needs configuring to work properly

I use iPadOS 16.6 with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I use accessibility->touch->assistive touch->devices->(my mouse) to configure the buttons. The right mouse button I USED to leave unmodified (set to none) so it passes through to the app unmolested. This worked for all apps (so far) except Firefox which treats that button-2 click as a single click by button 1 (left button). The effect is that the right-click menu doesn’t work unless I use the control key along with the right-button. (This may have been caused by site-specific button handling, I just can’t tell….) Anywayif I set button-2 to secondary-click the menu worked a couple of times but then reverted to acting as single-click. I had to restart Firefox and it appears now to work correctly.

- Also, the developer responded with information that helped resolve a previous issue I had with the bookmarks interface. I give high marks for their response, it’s the first one I’ve ever gotten to a review.

Almost perfect formula

Long one. I love Firefox on my desktop, it’s functional and doesn’t force me into an ecosystem like Microsoft edge, google chrome or safari. I have also tried duck duck go but I found it a little too barebones. Firefox’s entire system just works, because the account is not linked to any of my other accounts and it exists solely for the purpose of browsing , and I think FireFox offers a good balance of privacy and functionality, as you can see by their features. There are two reasons I gave it four stars - one, being that I think with a few tweaks the iOS app could become much more intuitive - I would recommend taking simple hints from safari, for example when the toolbar is at the bottom swiping up enters tab view and swiping along goes to the next tab - it would simply add to the user experience. The second reason is I think there could be more parallels with the desktop version- although the synchronisation is excellent and the accounts are hassle free, simply being able to add extensions and Themes on the desktop elevates it to the next model. That being said, I really appreciate Mozilla’s transparent and privacy focused approach, giving control to the consumer, and I think using Firefox with the DDG search engine is probably one of the best for privacy . Please continue the amazing work Mozilla !
