Getting worse over the last month

The worst bugs started around 6 weeks ago:
the shortcut icons on the homepage change randomly and are not related to a website. I have to read the name of the website as the icons are now useless.
At the same time, the second not less annoying bug appeared: if I want to remore a domain from the homepage, let’s say I read a newspaper,I have to remove the icon 10 times and more because behind an icon on the homepage is no longer the domain as a whole but each page that I visited of that domain name.
I used to use Mozilla for the last 20 years, but whatever the developers believe they have to change it goes always into the opposite direction of what used to be easy and user friendly.

Loses open tabs

I’ve been using Firefox on Windows for many years because a) it isn’t from one of the large corporations who mainly want to sell me something and b) I can customise it using the large variety of extensions.
On my iPhone I like that I can sync to PC and send tabs etc but I do have one major issue. When looking at various items or web articles I usually keep a few tabs open on my phone with some sites and web pages that I want to go back to again. Occasionally when opening Firefox on my phone I find that all the tabs which were open on the previous session have been closed snd I get a new blank tab. This is very annoying and means that I will probably go back to using Safari more ch of the time.

Great web browser

It is a relatively easy to understand web browser, but the speed could be improved (maybe it’s because of the lack of the original kernel, I heard that all web browsers for iOS use the safari kernel) but it allows more control and fun with dev options. Some parts of the UI can be hard to press on the iPhone 13 mini, but that is the least successful version of the iPhone 13 lineup. Everything is decently designed on iOS Firefox but it is still very good. It also does not really rely on Apple ecosystems, so I am happy as I use windows every day in my main desktop environment. Downloads should be easily explained due to the fact that it is kinda hard to find the Firefox folder for me due to the file structure I placed on my device, but could be different for each user. I think it is possible that Firefox for iOS can be faster and better in every way in the future. It would be great if fonts installed via configuration profiles from font apps could be applied to Firefox like on windows Linux and probably macOS.

Privacy settings lacking

This is described as a Safe, Private browser but only if you manually clear out Website data and browsing history.
True, It has the private browsing button but you always have to remember to use it. Otherwise there is no setting to automatically clear private data when you exit the app as there is on the windows version.
You have to manually clear Private Data by going into Settings>Data Management>Clear Private Data.
BUT WAIT!
Don’t forget to tap on “Website Data” above Clear Private Data! Here you will find that Firefox has been storing data on all the sites you have been visiting and the very stuff you thought you were getting rid of when you cleared private data! Why is this data here other than to exploit your web browsing? Web Site data usually includes data miners like Double Click and Google even if you weren’t using Google. Make sure you clear this stuff too even though, some of it mysteriously comes back even from sites you didn’t visit in a browsing session.

This app is ridiculous!

Every time you switch between the current webpage you're on to another app, whenever you click back on firefox it automatically opens a new tab. THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!

I can't find any way to turn this off, and it is so ridiculous! I am CONSTANTLY swapping between a webpage and other apps to reference or copy information, and EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. a new tab is opened! It's so redundant (not to mention infuriating!!!), do the developers of this app honestly think we aren't capable of opening a new tab, when there is a button provided so we can do exactly that?!

WHY WOULD ANYONE CREATE SUCH A STUPID SYSTEM?!?!?! Surely it is common sense that people don't want to constantly be closing new tabs every time they want to reference something! Surely it's also common sense that every time someone opens the app, they don't necessarily want a new tab! WHY WOULD YOU FORCE THIS STUPIDITY ON YOUR CONSUMERS?!?!?!

If this doesn't get fixed soon, I'm deleting this app and never coming back! I've honestly not seen such **BAD** design from a big company in a LONG time!!!

Aside from this one gripe, the app's not bad. But if you're like me and swap between apps a lot, then this problem makes it at best a 1 star app!

Losing (lost?) its way

I was happy to persevere through the many bugs and glitches, in supporting open software and privacy-focused browsing. But I can see that firefox now compromises on privacy as well - for example, in sending mobile data including our IP address to Adjust (analytics vendor), and in sharing clicking behaviour with its ‘Partners’. You should probably remove the ‘Private’ descriptor from your app title. I’ll be gradually migrating to another browser on my devices. Writing ‘we take your feedback seriously’ and then not taking it seriously isn’t really meaningful. This is sad because I’ve been using FF for around 15 years now

Getting really bad now?!

My less and less favourite IOS browser now missing basic buttons, like the SAVE button when editing a bookmark's title? It is there when you open the edit pane from the bookmarks list, but it is not there when you open it from clicking on the bookmark created message right after creating it. This is just absolute shambles, showing the lack of testing and attention to detail.

The most reliable browser in the market👌🏼

Thanks to the dedicated development teams, any problems I’ve experienced have been addressed and fixed before I even thought of reporting them… And with regard to protecting users, after testing several other browsers, I have uninstalled them from all the devices in my household and set up Firefox as default.
Since many of us are nowadays on mobile screens more than desktops, I agree with a fellow user's review about the need for a bookmark tool to make it easier to access and manage bookmarks on mobile devices, rather than having to navigate through the menu.
Thanks for your continued commitment to privacy and respect. Hope that will never change 🙏🏼

Great…but one request!

Firefox is and always has been my favorite browser. For the mobile version, I am BEGGING Mozilla to add a Bookmarks shortcut to the homepage. Or even better, a Bookmarks shortcut button to the left of address bar similar to Brave. I, along with most others, use Bookmarks frequently and as of now, they’re simply buried too deep within the menu tree to be easily accessed. Please please please Mozilla do this and make us all happy!!!! *Update*. It’s been a while since I left the review above. Unfortunately, the difficult-to-use Bookmarks are still an issue. I thought of an idea Mozilla. How about enable the ability to show Bookmarks on the start screen? Why have shortcuts when Bookmarks sync across platforms? Makes no sense to me. Bookmarks still need to be easier to access. Please do this so we can all be happy!!

***Its some time later and the bookmarks functionality is still a mess. Any updates on making these easier to access? Perhaps, include Bookmarks as a option on the homepage, in addition to Shortcuts, Jump back in, etc. This would be SOOO helpful guys!

Thanks for sharing your interest in having bookmarks in a more accessible location within the app. We've made sure of sharing this suggestion with our team!

Used to be my #1 choice of browser. No more

Used Firefox for years but started looking elsewhere.
Each new update seems to lose functionality.
One example: Closing all / multiple tabs on iPad and phone really hard work now as so obscure to find the icon / link to do so. Other browsers make it much easier.

The latest huge annoyance is, when I move from an open tab to look up or do something in another app or copy information from elsewhere to that page, when I click back on the active tab it jumps back to home page instead , with the page I was on minimised and lurking somewhere in a “ jump back in” list.

It is VERY disconcerting when the page closes as I click back on it and I cannot find where to change this annoying setting.

I DON’T want it to disappear and have to work out where it went to get back in. I just want to keep my workflow and get on with whatever I was doing. Like paste information into a text box or web form.

It’s especially confusing if for example I had several tabs open from a site and they all look similar in the “ jump in” format so I get distracted having to find it then scroll to wherever I was .

Sadly going back to Safari but will miss all the things that made Firefox top of the game. At least on the app. Web version may be different.

Hi! We are sorry to hear about the issues you have encountered in Firefox for iOS. I understand how you prefer not seeing a new tab opened when you launch Firefox. You can change this by going to Settings > Home Page > select "Last Tab". We do update the app to fix unresolved issues and add new features.
