  • Frigates

I would give this game 5 stars only if some of the Frigate classes were added to the Royal Navy
  • Wow, it’s good

I came to this from Pacific Fleet, where I had gripes about how easy it was because it was a boring 3 vs 3 max battle, you always had first shot, and enemy ships were dumb.

Well - that’s all fixed here. Not only do you have up to 10 vs 10 ships, 30 types rather than 8, and 100 set battles rather than 90 - but the ships are now more survivable and the whole battle space is larger and more dynamic, such that a battle can go on for tens or hundreds of turns!

So many other gripes are fixed too - you now need to aim ahead of targets with torpedoes, and you can launch a spread at once. Torpedos can run over many turns. Smoke helps negate radar.

The graphics are also far better, and an underwater view means ship sinking sequences are mesmerising.

I thought I wasn’t looking for a turn-based game, but I have to admit that the iPhones screen isn’t big enough to manage a complex naval sim in real time. So, if you accept a real-time realistic simulation isn’t possible, then this is the next best thing.

  • Amazing, but...

    1. Turn-based naval battles are extremely unfriendly to small ships. Maybe some magics?
    2. Aircraft carriers are usually spawned at ordinary locations designed for other surface ships, which are way too close for them to even survive.
    3. It will be fantastic to have online PvP (at least I would like to pay for that); if impossible, it will still be great to have a multiplayer mode via Bluetooth/wifi connections.

  • Great Game Play and Realistic Physics, ... but

No doubt, very satisfying and addicting game. The graphics are great and variety of historically-accurate ships is very impressive. The Battle for the Atlantic mode is great. I would’ve given it the fifth star if it didn’t have this frustrating habit of after you have spent an hour or more in a major fleet battle that you can come back to the game to find that the program has stopped and lost all of your victories.

  • Great game

What about a game based on ww1, that would be wicked
  • Gunnery problems

Gunnery gets worse as you purchase stronger ships. Completely inconsistent accuracy. AI will conistently have better starting positions (in new battles their subs always start within torpedo range of your strongest ship while yours start so far away they can’t catch up) and their torpedos seem to run twice as far per turn as yours, no matter which side you choose. When using aircraft AI has the option to send aircraft at a 90-degree angle ahead of your ships so torpedos always hit while you don’t have that option. A AI freighter will always shoot down your aircraft while and AI bomber can survive an entire fleet of warships. I like challenging games. This one is terrible. Do not buy.

  • Awesome game

This is an awesome game and ive reccomended it to several fruends who play and love it but the one thing that would make it the very best game ever is add splitting effects on the ships i mean after the stern or bow goes under and the oppsite end raises to a certian angle the stress on the frame would become too great to resist splitting in half plus if one does hit the powder mag the force of the blast is enough to split the ship in half without the stern or bow going under its how battleship Bismark sank HMS Hood so please please please add splitting effects in the next update

  • Best WWII game I have ever played

This game is the best WWII sim ever in my opinion but I have one complaint: in the single battle mode the historical outcome for sinking of the Bismarck is wrong. The Bismarck wasn’t sunk by weapons, the crew scuttled it. Please fix this in the next update but other than that I rate this game 100/5. This next part I came up with after writing the first part of this review. Can you please make it to where the torpedoes are like pacific fleets torpedoes they finish moving in one turn. These are just ideas to future updates.

  • One of the best games I’ve played

Please add a feature that allows CUSTOM BATTLE to place the ships on the grid before the round starts, the formation of 10 v 10 is very boring.

And when playing against COMPUTER in custom battles an option to make all enemy ships move/fire simultaneously

I’ve been playing for 2 years now and still love it but the turn by turn when playing computer is so time consuming.

  • Good!!

I have had pacific fleet from the beginning and after their many fixes I loved it. This one... crashed on release (iPhone 6) which is puzzling, but now it works well with their updates. While there are lovely elements it can be a bit confusing/daunting unless you spend many hours (I have). Gameplay is harder and it’s fairly complicated to navigate the game. Torpedoing a battleship is challenging. No more accumulation of special weapons by earning renown points also disappointing.
