App would not correctly take a jpg of my invoice. It cut off part of it although appeared to have captured it. Tried converting my iPhone jpg to a PDF, the only other format accepted and it wouldn’t accept that either. Frustrating. At least customer service responded quickly but I was stressed that I wouldn’t lose my refund. AND! Read the fine print. You are entitled to a 20% VAT refund. Part of that refund will be retained by the app.

Efficient and easy
Great app and awesome service. Super easy to use and quick refunds. Allows you to accumulate purchases and doesn’t have a minimum purchase like Global Blue. Hoping this extends to more countries
It works!
It’s a bit of a hassle to get each merchant to make an invoice out to Airvat, but the experience using the app and scanning the barcode at the airport was super simple. Their support team was also very prompt with helping me with some issues.
So easy - used at the Channel Tunnel too
First time user and it was very smooth - I had to chase the vendor to email me the invoice, with the details filled out, better if you read the advice about showing the vendor what they need to do first before you buy the goods just so they are focused! The french customs team at the terminal were very friendly and efficient, I passed over my mobile showing the barcode of the tax free form and she confirmed I had the goods I purchased and then scanned it in. Will definitely make sure i use this with every purchase in Europe now. Brexit was a dreadful decision, but this is a tiny recompense!

Simple app
This was my first time claiming a VAT refund and the app made it so easy for me as well as the vendor. I highly recommend it for that purpose. However, my one issue is that claiming your refund by PayPal will mean a reduced refund, nearly 5% of the transaction, which was not made clear to me at the time otherwise I would have chosen a different refund method. So this is my PSA to folks using this app. It works but don’t use PayPal unless you want to pay an additional transaction fee.

Best refund process ever
I have tried so many other refund processes - global blue amongst others and this is by far the best! Hands down. I got my refund on the same day! This is wonderful service and everything is so clear and user friendly. You have to use this going forward!
Fabulous product
First time user, and truly impressed. Got my refund within 36 hours of my return from France. Loaded my invoices for all items. Top Tip: do this at least 12hours before departure to ensure you get the bar code. Proceed to Hall 6 lower level in Terminal 1 at CDG, and scan your barcode at the regular “detaxe” kiosk. (No need to look for PABLO).
I am VERY satisfied with customer service who answered all my questions promptly. Highly recommend and will be using for all my travels to France and Belgium. Thank you Airvat!

The refund was sooo fast
Literally the refund got to my account whilst I was boarding the plane. Have never seen any other VAT refund app send the money through so fast. There had been a minor issue with a invoice being refused despite having all the necessary information - the team at Airvat were very responsive and had it sorted in minutes! Excellent experience overall

Super easy to get VAT refund w/ best customer service
During a recent trip to France I found myself having made several large purchases at stores that were not participating in the VAT refund program. At first I was upset not to have realized beforehand that I could have been getting some of the tax back as a non-EU tourist. Then I found AirVAT. They saved the day! Despite their having made several step by step blog posts, I of course didn’t read them, and made a few mistakes with my first “facture,” so it was rejected. However unlike most apps, someone from customer service actually contacted ME, not the other way around, to explain how I could fix it and get my refund. And that person (or perhaps there were multiple, I’ll never know) accompanied me every step of the way. It was the best customer service I’ve experienced in a long time. And they saved me over €100!! So, naturally, I shopped some more 😎😅 Seriously, I cannot recommend this app enough.
They’ve thought of everything, including the explanation screen for those of us wanting to ask for a facture, who aren’t fluent in French. If you don’t live in the EU and are traveling to France and thinking of shopping, use this app and save money!!

Excellent service
I didn’t know about Airvat before and just randomly found it in google and decided to give it a try as I was buying few iphones in Paris recently.
The process is as simple as it can be, I honestly don’t know what else can be simplified.
I didn’t manage to print resulting tax form as my last purchase was basically on the way to terminal, but they still managed to generate tax within few hours while I was on the way to border and scanning form in pablo terminal took 2 minutes at most. This is truly amazing service I’d suggest to everyone I know!
Their support was also replying quite fast when I had few questions.

It worked
It worked very well and next time I will know what I’m doing so won’t be so anxious. The app takes a bit of figuring out first time and you can’t expect to use this at the last minute as you need to take pictures of your ‘facture’ which takes the app a few hours to process. Their customer service is great though so I was able to communicate with them which sped up the process and I managed to do it all before I left the EU. Next time I will leave enough time as it’s pretty straight forward once you’ve tried and tested it.

Easy after your first try
Airvat isn’t as popular as some of the other refund apps out there but experience overall is pretty good. Did have to manually print out a form because the customs system was down (that’s when staying at a hotel comes in handy), but other than that it was fairly straightforward and got about 80% of my VAT back. Will use again for my next trip to Europe.

Very good experience
All in all I had a great experience and would definitely use it again. I had no issues with asking the store to print the right form as Airvat helpfully provide all the information you need in the information tab section. I would note that you should upload the invoices as soon as you have them, pre load your passport info and make sure to validate your forms with plenty of time before travelling just so you aren’t stuck at the Eurostar and haven’t got everything sorted (although mine was pretty instantaneous besides my passport being rejected).
Not sure how much more you get back vs doing it in store but it’s very easy and nice to have it all in one place / have people contact you throughout to let you know your money is on the way!

Happy days
Never completed before and must have wasted ££ not claiming. This simple process ensures a really quick process throughout the process, refund process started within 24hrs of returning to the UK.
Very easy and efficient
Once we figure it out how to get there store clerks to give us a factor it all went very smoothly. It was convenient at the airport to only have one barcode to enter.
