The App is awful

Never works we you need it. All I want to do is show proof of insurance! Broken and frustrated!

So many trash apps

The two factor authentication for my insurance was a choice and a bad one. Why does everyone need to protect their car insurance info so much? Can we not remember my phone? Who gets access to my phone but is unable to pass the tfa that goes to my text. It’s bad UX.

The app is slow. Log in doesn’t always work. And if you need to do anything more complex than print id cards you’ll be calling an agent anyway.

Login & view issues

The login process is painful, why have text or code requirements when you’re using biometrics? Often requires multiple attempts to get in. And by the time you do get in, none of your policies or any information is available. The app used to work, but now it doesn’t work at all. Not sure how this is acceptable in this day/age.

Not for iPad!

Amica app is only for iPhone so it doesn’t show up full screen on an iPad. Disappointing.

Not opening

After the update, my app no longer opens. It will send me my two-step verification code. When I type it in it sits there just spinning does not log me in.

Makes Me Hate Amica

This app sucks. The login is awful. The biometric always has an error. It always glitches and takes forever to login. You need a text code if it happens to lose focus which means you need to get a text every few minutes. The roadside assistance is horrific. Most of the time I get sent to the website that asks me if I want to download the app. Honestly I’m just going to shop for new insurance. I’ve had it.

No good

"We're unable to handle your request". Doesn't matter if it's an upload or a download. 2fa codes aren't delivered in a timely manner

Great Insurance. Meh app.

I trust the app. It mostly does what I want, but it is a bit clunky with missing pieces that are frustrating. eg. yearly mileage entry should be in app with last years vehicle miles already there instead of my writing it down - or at least let me see last years document upload; Sliders of the different insurance attributes to try adding/subtracting to see how it affects price/coverage; see different prices for different states as i anticipate move; Surveys: I will NEVER take an email link to do a survey - should be in secure app as needed; app should have link for suggestions like these.

Unable to complete

Using iPhone and Amica app was unable to make billing transactions. Selected today before noon. Had to change from Apple Pay to my bank account which has worked before. Tapped the next button and the screen slid over where you could see a small portion of the previous screen and the next final or confirmation screen never displayed tried 3 times. Unable to use.

MFA sign in option needs improvement.

During login with MFA enabled, and “Receive code in your Authentication App” selected, “Enter Security Code” screen appears. Double-tap in Code entry box ONLY gives the option for Scan Text, but no option for AutoFill > Passwords to get the authenticator app generated code. This results in having to leave the app to open the user’s 3rd party password manager to get the generated code. I contacted Amica and their response was, unfortunately, “this is a feature that our developers do not plan to implement currently.” Maybe they can reconsider and add it to their list of things to improve the app.

Disaster

I have a doctorate and am very computer savvy, but I never was able to log in. Horrible software.

App needs work

The app covers all of the basics you would expect, but there are some annoyances.

If you enable MFA on your account, you’ll need to provide a code every time you open the app, even with Face ID enabled. What’s worse is that the MFA code field isn’t recognized by iOS, so it won’t autofill from your password manager and there’s no way to use the Passwords menu to manually fill it either.

Blank screen

Every time I try to open the Amica App, I see a blank screen and it does not change. Even if I shut down and reopen it’s the same blank screen.

Amica is great, the app, not so much

The company has been great, I’ve never had issues when I’ve been able to speak to anyone who works for the company. The app, however, is not so great. It keeps showing conflicting notifications (for example, payment past due, but payment was actually received), and I am unable to enroll in AutoPay as a result. Will likely have to contact customer support to resolve the issue caused by the app.

Terrible

The app is awful. Can’t access anything.

Not an app

There’s just login boxes

Good company, poor app

My experience with Amica has been great from a company/customer service point of view (luckily no claims), however their tech (website and specifically the app) leaves a lot to be desired. As others have stated, various functions are always unavailable, under maintenance, or not working for long periods of time. Ive been trying to use the “quote a vehicle” process to get quotes on various new vehicles for my wife, and it hasnt worked in weeks, it just gives a pop up about a “technical issue” and to call. I dont want to call when I have a list of 10 possible cars, calling would take forever - the website/app just a few minutes to check. This type of basic functionality being “broken” for 3+ weeks is unacceptable and has me seriously considering another company.

Great insurance company, lousy app.

The one time I filed a claim, Amica was great. No complaints. App is entirely a different story. 2FA is unnecessary and frustrating. Just call if you need something, don’t waste time on the app.

Great company, mediocre app…

Amica is a great company, and the app is fine…when it’s actually working! Over the last few years, it seems that every time I want to access something on the app, it is undergoing “scheduled maintenance” that renders all of the useful features unavailable. I would expect & understand if this happened overnight as it does with most of the banking apps, but sometimes it lasts for an entire weekend, or for several hours in the middle of a weekday. On Friday afternoon, I got an email about my auto policy renewal documents being ready, it’s now Sunday night and I still haven’t been able to access them on the app or website due to this “scheduled maintenance.” I’ve been shopping for a new car, and the quote feature is helpful as I research different makes & models, but again, it seems to be unavailable almost every time I want to use it. It’s not enough to make me look elsewhere for coverage, but it sure is annoying!

Beautiful app but more native iOS integration would be nice

Beautiful app but signing in is a pain when using Passwords to generate the 2FA token (“Google Authenticstor”)—the Autofill doesn’t work presumably because the form doesn’t define the input type correctly.

I’m not sure why this 2FA scheme was implemented in 2025 rather than FIDO2 Passkeys.
