About
Ballast gives you one short reading each morning, then asks you to score how the day actually went in four areas: Focus, Love, Money and Energy.
Do that for a few weeks and something useful shows up. Not a mood graph, but a plain answer to a question most people avoid: which part of my life am I quietly starving?
THE WHEEL
Four spokes, one for each area. The length of a spoke is that area's 30 day average, and the ring sitting on it is today's score. The area that has gone longest without a check in is drawn faint, so the thin side of your month is the first thing you see. It is drawn from your own numbers and it moves only when they do.
HOW IT WORKS
Read. One sharp, unsentimental piece of writing each day, on one of your four areas. No filler and no affirmation voice. You can switch between all four of the day's readings whenever you want.
Score. Rate each area from 1 to 5 in a few seconds, and add a short note if the day is worth remembering.
Aim. Write one line under each area about what you actually want from it. Call Mum on Sundays. One deep work block before email. It sits above the score every day, so the number gets rated against your own intention instead of against nothing. Intentions are free.
Look. The wheel, the 30 day average for each area, how long each one has gone untouched, and a running average across the last two weeks. When an area goes cold, Ballast says so plainly instead of letting it slide.

WHAT PRO ADDS
The reading, the check in, the wheel, your intentions, the 30 day averages, the neglect callout and the last two weeks of history are free, and stay free. One optional payment, once, opens the rest:
The full history of every score and note you have logged, instead of the last two weeks
Search back through your notes, and through the areas you scored on a given day
Six months of daily averages on the trend chart instead of a fortnight
Print a month: every reading, score and note from one month as a PDF you can keep, file or mail
No subscription, nothing renews, and there are no ads.
PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
There is no account and no sign up. Everything you write stays on your device. Ballast has no servers, no analytics and no tracking, so there is nothing for anyone to collect or leak. Reminders are scheduled locally and their contents never leave your phone.
