can’t click into books because it resets the filter every. damn. time.

New App is Garbage
I can’t even use this “new” app and now use the website in a browser. The app feels like it’s from 2010. Order history is a joke. Preorder dates are completely missing and no book covers even show. Tracking doesn’t work at all. It’s like an unclickable link. Ugh. Please fix. It’s horrible.
Love B&N, but not this app
App is a mess. Crashes out. Freezes. Locks my phone up. Completely unusable since the update.
Update = Downgrade
Whoever is behind the new update needs to actually use the previous version of the app, maybe they wanted it cleaner but now you can’t see what you ordered in a valuable way. Previously you could see the release dates and expected ship dates now if just says a title, nothing can be clicked on there’s no information, just an order date what’s the point of using the app if you can’t see everything you’re doing and all the additional information that goes with pre ordering.

Order Screen
The order screen doesn’t load properly at all. The covers are blank and pre-orders you can’t even see their date either. You have to log onto the actual website. Would help also when you “heart” something when looking at 20k books it doesn’t bring you all the way back up to the top of the page so you have to scroll all the way back down to where you were.

Wild play to accept ai slop to sell as in-store merch before making your app functional, but hey: we all make choices and that was definitely one.
B&N had always been a very special place for my husband and I. We went there when we’re recovering from an argument, or before a beach day, or when there’s nothing going on and we need to get out of the house, or when we’re meeting a friend at Starbucks and have a book date, or if we need to buy a gift…
Generative ai is a clear and present direct threat to my entire livelihood. Why would I spend my happy moments in a place that is trying to sell me my own replacement?! And with what income would you like me to purchase it at that point?! Further, ai is not art because art comes from a soul, ai is a repackaging of old ideas and previous work. If anything I’d think it’s closer to binding and selling a Google search on plagiarism…
Rethink the decision to sell Ai books in your stores or sell them to ghosts. We won’t be back if this decision stands. There are mom n pop book shops I should probably be supporting anyway… focus that energy on making your app and website functional and sell human work to human beings through them both, yeah?

Whoever designed this new app should be fired.
This new update is absolutely horrible. Nothing wants to load, I usually place a large order during the 25% off presale sale and before I could see the dates and what what has shipped and the dates for the each books release on my order. That is no longer visible. Nothing seems to want to work properly on this app and it’s incredibly frustrating. It’s 2026 there should be no reason an app has this much issues.

Tracking / Orders Tab
So i definitely agree about the orders tab being horrible. There’s no more pictures of the books you ordered, release dates (for pre-ordered books), and it doesn’t look as nice. If there’s multiple books in an order only the first title shows with +amount. I definitely miss the older way of the orders tab. I also am trying to figure out tracking and every time I click the tracking button nothing happens. Thankfully I get emails about my shipping, but this is annoying whereas before I could click track and it would take me to where my book was in the shipping process. Overall still love the app just not a fan of some of the new updates

Constant resetting
Trying to scroll through new and upcoming and adding into a wishlist is an exercise in futility. If you click on a book and then go back out prepare to scroll because the app has decided you should start from the top again. And the wishlist itself is glitchy as hell. Honestly, thrift books has a more smoothly running app as sad as that is.

Used to Love
When I first downloaded the app it was the older version and I honestly found the other version 10 times easier to use than the new updated one. This new version makes it difficult to track shipments on books I’ve ordered and most of the time doesn’t even show the covers of the books when looking at the list of purchased books. I also can’t track my shipment, when I click on the track shipment button when looking at an order it doesn’t do anything. Again the older version was much easier to use and navigate. Please do another update that takes care of these bugs.

I love Barnes & Noble!!!! I wish I loved the app just as much but I can’t because I’m constantly having issues with it. I like to preorder books through the app, but since the update every time I go to the coming soon tab I’m able to scroll down a few books before it takes me back to the top of page. I’ve had to resort to looking at the preorders page on my laptop then I type them in on the app and order them there. I can’t order them from the website on my laptop because while it saves my login it NEVER saves the items in my cart, but the app does. There are issues everywhere from the app to the website. I really do love Barnes & noble & the app update does look great, but it does need a TON of work to be considered perfect.

What happened to the orders page?
What happened to the orders page? You used to be able to see all your pre orders and release dates along with previous orders easily. Now the page is only text and you can’t even click on the order details.
App update
The new update has made the app impossible to use. It logs me out multiple times a day, the interface is glitchy and takes forever to load. I have to go to the web browser and access my account that way.
Glitchy
I’ve never had a pleasant experience with this app. It’s been more frustrating than anything. I’ve had problems logging in (wheel just keeps spinning), searching (no books come up in search), and when It does search, when I click on a book it flashes to the details page but then goes back to the search page. Truly a horrendous app. I don’t know why kind of “fixes” or updates the devs do, but it’s obviously not to make it a better user experience.

Slow and Poorly Designed
The current app is not laid out well. It is hard to navigate and find items. It also lags constantly and keeps opening items I did not select. Needs an overhaul.

I love books and support B&N but dang! This app is riddled with glitches and is slow. For example: I had a book in cart that sold out. I’ve tried multiple times to remove from the cart but it is not only stuck but it won’t even let me use the app to complete purchase on the other items in cart. I deleted the app and will save down from browser to home page.

Updating: I keep getting told the cart is updating wait a second and it never “updates” and I’m not allowed to check out. Y’all really just don’t want people buying from you guys anymore do you?

They updated it but even when I try to log in it breaks the whole app and I can’t use it anymore so done.
New app is awful
Whatever B&N did in their new app has ruined it. It’s slow and the order history is trash. Once orders ship you can’t track them in the app and you can’t see when books are expected to ship. I am know using the website more than the app, which is disappointing.
