The worst!

As someone who takes bike shares and travels frequently, this was by far the worst one that I've ever experienced and the most complicated, with the worst user interface.

From the beginning you download one app just for you to see, of course, whether there is a bike share near you in the first place. I figured I was in the city center by Piccadilly that there would be lots of options nearby me but you can't actually see if there are any bike shares until you put in your credit card information. That was strike number one.

I put in my credit card information only to be told that I have to download another app to see where the bikes are. When you are traveling and in another country, data is usually at a premium. After spending a couple of minutes to download the first app just to put in my credit card information, I now have to spend another two or three minutes downloading another app just to see if there are bikes on the map.

I then download the second app, which is the app that I'm commenting on now, only to find that it doesn't even geolocate you automatically to see if there are bikes nearby you. I see a map with what looks like hundreds of bike stations but I don't even know if any one of them is near me or where their distance is because it does not automatically geolocate me.

I then click on "bikes near me" only for it to load and load and load and not move anywhere. Finally I just give up and call an Uber.

No longer opens

After the last update it just hangs on the splash screen and never opens. Latest ios

Love but hate

I really love using the beryl bikes but the app is very unreliable, when you try to end the ride it takes agesssss, by that the minutes keep losing just by locking the bike, it is the gps that doesnt update accurately. Would love you to fix this problem as it isnt just me thats happening to.
Also the prices are quite horrendous, despite the fact that the bikes are quite slow aswell or something is wrong with the bikes.

You have to have your driving licence to ride the scooter

Tell people before they download the app!!

No good if you don’t have a photo license

Can’t ride a scooter because I don’t have a photographic license, but I’ve been driving for 36 years with a full and advanced license.
You’d think they’d let you verify your license along with your passport that has a photo on it and cross reference with our DVLA driver number. 🤨
Prefer a 🛴 because the bikes 🚲 seats don’t stay up.
Can’t be that hard to verify a person with two forms of ID 🪪 passport + paper license

ID verification

The ID verification never works for me not sure what it is but it just doesn’t work at all make the app unusable.

SO UNRELIABLE!

Ultimately 1-star as relying on these bikes will ruin any plans you ever have. Most of the time they simply don’t work. App is inaccurate and says bikes are available when they’re not. Ending ride unreliable.

Frustration often outweighs convenience.

When it works, great, but when it doesn’t (which is often), the failure of these tank-like bikes grinds the gears. There can be a bank of 15 bikes and not a single one works, despite the app saying 5 available. So you can’t plan around anything the app says. Bad tech, bad bikes, bad times, bad Beryl. *Updated my review to 3 stars, because when it works, it’s better Beryl. But please sort out all the busted bikes.

Never loads

Never rely on the all to work when you need it to. It’ll be work

Unreliable

I can’t even count the amount of time when there are no bikes in bays, or bikes are unable to unlock. Poor customer support. Sometimes I couldn’t successfully lock as the app was not connecting to the bike.

Disappointed

No bikes ever available.

Good but be careful

Generally good service, been using them for years, spent thousands but unfortunately due to a mistake I made when I was younger where I tried to use someone other than mine’s ID to unlock a scooter, after they finally realized I am now forever banned from even using bikes which I relied on heavily to get around and to work, read the terms and conditions and don’t mess about, these people don’t give second chances.

Waste of time

Terrible app doesn’t work had me logging in and practically giving them my birth certificate just to get a bike! Don’t waste your time

Frustration massively outweighs convenience.

When it works, great, but when it doesn’t (which is often), the incompetence and failure of these tank-like bikes grinds the gears. There can be a bank of 15 bikes and not a single one works, despite the app saying 5 available. So you can’t plan around anything the app says. Totally unreliable. And when your trip ends and you lock the bike manually, it doesn’t end until you tell the app, which is slow and ineffective. The app also often fails to connect despite full signal. Bad tech, bad bikes, bad times, bad Beryl. Why is this the only option in Brighton?

Usually good but bad when you need it

Worst service in the world, we couldn’t even get home in the World Cup and we were already disappointed by the World Cup and then we’re disappointed by Beryl, DO BETTER! Are you going to refund me all of the £1 that you took out of my account!?

Minutes expire too quickly

I used to enjoy buying bundles of minutes to use ad hoc at my convenience, I’m now finding they have a very short time limit which means my money is sometimes wasted. This seems like just a money grab by you with no benefit to me. Please extend the validity of any bought minute packages.

Great for Canterbury

Nifty app. Shame about the content design and colour palette. Encountering some ui bugs but all in all good to use.

Faulty and not updated

Facing issues continuously. Number of bikes information doesn’t match with parking bays. Multiple time bike unlocked on app but actually it was locked. One time it took me 4m+ to cancel a ride even though bike was locked in bay.

SCAMMED ME!

The app said that it was 0.06 pounds p/m but clearly it’s false. We locked the bike for about 15 minutes and got charged 12 great British pounds for NO REASON. I’m angry give me my money back beryl or else I will throw you down the barrel 😠😠😠😠😠. Period. Contact me for further information if you want to give me back my moolah thanks xx
