Don’t waste your money or time downloading this..if you happen to be cute they flag your post down and the support team don’t have evidence they just be saying nothing waste of absolutely people time you guys should also hire people who know how to deal with complaints useless

Not as Exclusive as Advertised
I initially joined Black Gentry with high expectations based on how it was marketed. The app presents itself as an “elite” platform for Black singles, and the approval/waitlist process gave the impression that members would be more curated—professionals, established individuals, and people intentionally seeking serious connections.
However, after joining, my experience didn’t really match that expectation. The user base felt very similar to what you’d find on more general dating apps like Facebook Dating, with a wide range of profiles that didn’t reflect the “high-value, professional” branding the app promotes. It didn’t feel especially selective or curated in practice.
Another downside for me is the paywall. Unless you subscribe, you can only see who likes you once every 24 hours, which makes it difficult to meaningfully engage with the app without paying. I personally don’t feel motivated to pay for a subscription when the overall experience already feels inconsistent with what was advertised.
Overall, I think the app has potential, but it may benefit from either tightening its membership criteria or adjusting its branding to better reflect the actual user experience.

The women are attractive and I’ve met a lot of people. So far the experience has been smooth. I like that you can send messages for free and also see some of your likes without paying. Which is better than a lot of other apps.

If you accidentally pay for a subscription and request a refund—without utilizing a single feature—they categorically refuse to assist and immediately weaponize their terms of service as a convenient escape hatch. There is no discretion, no empathy, and no semblance of customer‑centric thinking. Their posture makes it unmistakably clear: they prioritize financial extraction over fundamental fairness, and they would rather cling to policy than exercise even the slightest degree of human decency.

Great way to meet professional single women
Tried the app after seeing ads on TikTok and so far it’s going well. I had three dates already and am hopeful I will meet the one. The app has a lot of quality people and I love the Professionals page. Love the app so far and think it’s the best for the community.

The quality of profiles on the app does not reflect the premium image the company markets. Many profiles featured unclear or low-quality photos, which I understood would not meet the platform’s stated standards. Several profiles appeared incomplete or lacked the level of effort one would expect from a supposedly exclusive community.
I also came across reviews suggesting that promotional images may create the impression that the app attracts exceptionally high-caliber singles. Based on my experience, the actual user base did not align with those expectations.
Fortunately, I did not pay for a subscription. Given the gap between the app’s marketing and my experience using it, I would not recommend this platform and would encourage others to explore alternative dating apps before spending their time or money here.

All the connections are far away. They make pay and subscribe. It is a waste of time and money
Actual likes are behind paywall
You’ll never actually be shown those who like you lol they just let them accumulate if they’re even real and want you to eventually pay to see them. Usually also low quality matches so not worth your time or money.

Quantity over Quality
They need to do better job of vetting profiles. The vast majority of men on there are hideous. It’s supposed to promote a different community of black people but the vast majority on there look poor & have bios littered with typos.

Ambitious?
I signed up thinking the users would be elevated, ambitious… the cream of the crop, if you will. Absolutely not. There is no way these men went through any sort of vetting process. That, or the standards were much too low for men. I had over 300 likes and didn’t run into a single person of interest. Their profile lacked effort and the pictures didn’t imply that they were hand picked by the app’s standards.
