would be better without the app

very inconvenient that you have to have an app to use it. to create an account, download an app, and then a second one when the first one isn’t working anymore, and then you’re logged out with a 15min lock bc you forgot your passcode… it’s a cooking app, it’s not that deep and shouldn’t be this hard. would not recommend for a commercial setting for these reasons plus the urgency to set up— which i am unfortunately stuck with for now.

Joule incompatible

I'll never forgive Breville for the time wasted trying to connect and update firmware for a Joule sous vide. After trying every troubleshooting tip under the sun, it was a problem with their app the whole time.

Can’t read recipes

Won’t even show the recipe if you don’t add the serial number of your device. When trying to add a device the app gives an error. App is totally useless

Garbage software

You can start a cook and it loses track of when you started. You have to manually set a timer in order to keep track of the cook time.

They need a log file since you can't trust the app.

I LOVE MY BREVILLE

I own several Breville products; Smart Grinder Pro Conical Burr Grinder, Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro, and a Joule Turbo Sous Vide.

All of these have exceeded my expectations in performance, ease of use, and durability.

I appreciate Breville’s commitment to quality and functionality. I am a happy customer for life!

The BEST!

I don’t cook much other than steaks, but WOW! I’ll never eat another steak except at home!

Never connects to Joule

This is the worst app. Constantly looses connection to the Joule, never finds WiFi networks, Bluetooth constantly disconnects.

Patty

The best oven I’ve ever had . Love it 😃😃👍

Don’t bother

I tried to install this app for my new Breville oven/airfryer. It wouldn’t go anywhere until I scanned a barcode (in horsing the unit around to find one I knocked something over & made a mess). No barcode that I could find. Deleted the app. There might have been one on the box but it has gone to recycling.

Deceiving

I thought and Chatgpt before to make sure that I was paying nearly $250 more for a joule oven so I can start and stop and monitor my cooking remotely via wifi. That is not the case. I need to be present to start the unit. I am not happy I spent the extra money for a feature that doesn’t work as advertised.

Response from developer

Hi Tkreuh, thank you for your feedback and we are sorry for the confusion. The press to start is a UL requirement for temperatures over 185 °F, so most oven functions will require a button press to make sure it is safe to start. If you have any questions, we are happy to help: https://support.breville.com/

Bring back the Joule app

Can’t make my Joule sous vide connect to wifi (the password was correct), randomly loses connection to the Joule mentioning losing power (when I see the device on), simply worse experience. Bring the old one back.

Too complicated

The app is too complicated. They really just need to simplify things. I do not need a whole recipe. I just need my meat cooked with turbo. Simplify things for those of us who don’t care about a recipe.

Oatmeal cookies

Oatmeal cookies was the first food I cooked with my new oven. I recently moved into a new apartment and needed something versatile so that I can bake and cook everything that I love this is the best purchase I’ve made in years.

Huge improvement to the Joule app

My original Chefs Steps Joule Sous Vide was practically a paper weight using the old Joule app. This app is so much more reliable, useful and easy to use! So glad Breville saved my immersion cooker

Not great

App is clunky. Forced to download for an “updated experience” won’t connect to appliances had to create a new account. Just a blatant data grab for a sub par and overpriced piece of gear that has only been used a handful of times and is now completely bricked.

Works as labeled

The app is easy and self explanatory. The temperature control is precise as too the timing. It could use an automatic shutoff when the time has expired.

Pleasure to use

This app gives you answers fast and is a breeze to use. So many different foods are supported, and the “our fave” setting for temperatures helps a lot when I’m making something I’m less familiar with

No bluetooth connect on the turbo

I upgraded to the turbo because the Breville website says it connects via blue tooth as well as wifi like the regular sous vide wand.
Well it doesn't, I called customer support and they said they’d talk to the tech team, and get back to me, I haven’t heard back.
There's no skip button to connect to Bluetooth like on the Joule app.
Great customer service… not!

Works well with my Joule

Connected to my old Joule sous vide seamlessly, and I like the live activity and watch integration.

Not easy to get this app working

I haven’t used my joule in a while, and I’m tearing my hair out trying to figure out how to make this transition to the Breville + app. I keep asking them to send me a link to change my password and I never receive anything. I’ve gone to my profile and I’m using the correct email address so I don’t know what the deal is but this clearly isn’t working. I’m about ready to throw out the device and buy a competitive brand!
