What’s started out as a semi useful software option for builders has turned into as waste of money. Continued “updates” only make the software more useless all in an effort to make it prettier. Actual problems are ignored and non existent problems are “fixed.”
Temu version of Pro-Core
This app constantly has issues. Especially when it comes to uploading. If you want to upload something, make sure you have nothing else going on because you cannot leave the upload page even to answer a phone call without everything deleting itself. On top of the constant updates to fix bugs (that never get fixed) the interface is absolutely terrible. There is a drop-down menu for every drop-down menu. To call yourself a construction management app you would think that time management would be pretty high up on the ranking for app feature. This app consistently causes me to waste time in the field. Especially since everything runs through their email system and then comes to your personal email.

Terrible UI from a clients perspective.
I have no idea how to find what I’m actually looking. Itemized Invoices are hard to find, I can’t review old change orders, I can’t see a breakdown of work that that’s already been performed against upcoming work. It takes at least 3 to 5 taps to get anywhere and figure out what to find. Half the time I end up just getting frustrated and going to the website.

New tasks not as good
We use BT extensively on our jobs. Having a central location to find information is key. Daily logs keep a record that we refer back to often. We also used the to do feature a lot until recently an update “improved “ this feature under Tasks. It is more cumbersome and harder to read. The crew has stopped using it unfortunately. Cheating proof feature
This app shouldn’t allow the builder to upload status pro-rata.l to avoid builders cheating their customers. There should be a locator feature where the builder checks in the property to show in reality when there is work being done.
Inconsistent message history
This app does not save messages that the management company doesn’t directly respond to. If you ever need proof of communication and only used the app there will be nothing saved and you will not have proof of messages being ignored. It’s better to defer all communication to email so there are records.

To dos were replaced with tasks. Exact same premise, just completely unusable and worse in every way. It even looks like trash.

Every update to this app makes it worse and worse first it was the ai assistant button not getting rid of to do’s (which had nothing wrong) then adding tasks which are difficult and unable to complete for the employees or unable to put in order for the employers. Do better

It is glitching out way to much that it won’t let you look at anything, a pop up comes out and says one or more jobs can’t no longer be accessed
Regressing
BuilderTrend is leaning heavily into AI over the past several months and that has resulted in a very poor customer support experience. Seems like they need to revamp every single aspect of this software for the sake of keeping it new and exciting. Hiding buttons, changing layouts, consolidating functions, it all sucks.

Waste of time
If you want to spend more time having to log in and change passwords than actually using this app then this is the app for you. This app will make you find their headquarters and burn the building down.
It has literally logged me out multiple times in a day, and then made me change my password every time.

Terrible client experience
This app is pretty shoddy. Every update email comes through twice. When the builder uploads a change order, the app only shows a subject and a cost. The WEBSITE shows a PDF attachment, notes, and breakdown of costs. So I constantly having to flick between the app and the website to actually see all the information. When daily logs are added by the builder, there’s no notification. For the first few months that meant I was seeing photos on the “home” page, but they had no context. The context was hidden in a completely different section (the update section). The homepage only shows the top N photos. No idea how it chooses how many to show.
Overall, I really wish our builder would stop using it… but unfortunately I’m forced to use this app until they realise it’s a pile of dogs mess for customers.

Value proposition took a nose dive. Price increases are not justified
Received a price increase of $230 on a current rate of $460… up to $699/month.
Buildertrend does most of what it says. Time tracking, to do list, daily logs, document and photo management.
But That’s some big increase and the service has gone down over the years. No call backs, have to wait on hold for tech service, carpenters often not able to log in in the morning. Extra cost for financial toolbox.
It’s damn expensive and i run a high end remodeling business. This price increase gives me pause and is exactly the type of rapacious behavior i do not like to support. Will be looking for alternative.

Get rid of the ai assistant button when leaving a comment
This is from multiple coworkers at my job but ever since you added the comment button all is does is obstruct my view of my comment as I type and the x button is too little that it pulls up the ai chat and it’s very frustrating please get rid of it or move it to the top while leaving a comment
Useless
Keeps logging you out. Constantly updating, clunky, not intuitive. Freezes a lot. Great idea, poorly executed. Contractor and I just use email again now instead
Updating the app to make it worse
Now you can’t even save drafts… the new display looks terrible and overall everything looks worse
Daily log
After the update, it is no longer possible to save a draft of the daily log. The interface appears to have rolled back instead of being updated. Additionally, there is a constant error indicating that some attachments failed to upload.
