Chatterbug is a very informative source for learning practical German. I’m really happy with the amount of information they give you without making you pay for a subscription.

My favorite app for practicing listening skills
I'm so bummed this app isn't more popular becasue it's the best I've found for improving listening skills! The videos are divided up according to language level and subject matter. Unlike many language-learning apps, the videos cover far more than just travel essentials or recent headlines, but offer a whole kaleidescope of topics that really exposes you to a plethora of vocabulary. One of my main problems with finding listening materials is that beginner-level content can be, frankly, boring (how many times do you want to listen to stories about students traveling around the country, for example?), but these videos are fun and varied, and keep you entertained.
Sadly, they are no longer producing new videos, but there are more videos in the archive than you could pretty much ever finish. I'm recently coming back to this app after a hiatus and am so glad to find it still up and functioning -- I only hope they never stop hosting this app because it's great!

It has lost its appeal
I used to enjoy it a lot. But then they fired all of their video makers and made everything about scheduling very expensive tutorial sessions. You had me, and now you lost me.
Too many problems
I downloaded Chatterbug hoping to find another good resource for my Spanish language learning. At first I thought it was promising, but quickly discovered that it had too many problems for me. I couldn't learn a lot of new things from most content including the higher-level lessons. The Recommended for You videos never change. The sound effects used in some of the shorts are disturbing. The streak checkpoints only work once; if you miss another day, you lose your entire streak for good. The customer service is bad; I reported the Recommended for You and checkpoint issues and neither of them were resolved. The support agent who replied to my feedback about checkpoints was not nice either. Not worth it for me at all.
