Awful
Never known anything so un user friendly. I have ten other savings accounts which use the simple method of sending a code by text. The image scan option is fine if you have 5 minutes to spare while it tries to work.
Useless system
Get a new phone, can’t activate app or login online, because you need the app - to login. Can’t access app, because I can’t login. Stuck in a loop.
Why can’t I give zero star rating
The authenticator app requires constant re-registration and even when you do that, you still can’t login! I’m literally taking my money to another bank because the Authenticator app is so rubbish.

This is just a really poor app, performs badly, slow, painful to use and dated.
Doesn’t work after changing phones
I’ve tried so hard with this since changing my phone including calling Cynergy. Being sent new passcodes which take hours to receive and then being advised that they will send another new passcode to replace the old/new passcode means more wasted time. I have given up!

This app is useless. I have to re-register every time I log into my account because the app either crashes or resets itself. It is the most frustrating experience.

Only giving 1 star as zero is not an option. Have to struggle with authentication every time I login. Essentially impossible to quickly check any of your accounts.

Appalling
Avoid at all costs, put your money elsewhere, the Authenticator is absolutely useless. It never works. I will never bank with Cynergy again because of it. Their security team should all be sacked.
Doesn't remember app registration
When I got a new phone I had to re-register this app. Fair enough. However it doesn't remember that it is registered and every time I want to use it, I have to re-register it which is tedious to the extreme. To the extent that it has driven me to seriously consider closing my account and moving it elsewhere.

NOTHING WORKS FROM CYNERGY BANK!
Update to version 1.8 has broken the app. It no longer works whatsoever! WHY DON’T YOU DEVELOPERS PROPERLY TEST CODE CHANGES BEFORE YOU RELEASE UPDATES ON THE PUBLIC!!! When I scan the authentication image on my pc with the app on my iPad, and then enter my 4 digit pin, it tells me that ‘this function requires Internet connectivity. You must connect to a Wi-Fi or cellular data network to access it.’ THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. AND YES, I AM CONNECTED TO WI-FI (BROWSER & OTHER BANKING APPS WORK JUST FINE). For a bank whose tagline is ‘Banking needn’t be complicated’, the CEO of Cynergy Bank Nick Fahy needs to get his act together. The push notification option does not work either! I also tried the stand-alone banking app offered by Cynergy but that too does not start up when downloaded from the Apple App Store. SIMPLY LOST FOR WORDS!

One problem after another
It took many repeated attempts to register the app. Having finally achieved that, the app keeps on telling me I need to be connected to the WiFi/Internet in order for it to complete the action requested. I am connected, and a quick search confirms I am, and yet this app can’t seem to access a connection.

Zero stars
Who got paid to develop this authentication process? It’s a disaster. The UI is unbelievably poor, way worse than any of the 5 other banking apps I use regularly. When you’re trying to authenticate on the same device it opens the page you need underneath, so it’s unreadable (iPhone 15, Firefox browser). Convoluted, clunky, non-sensical. Fortunately I only throw money into an ISA and leave it; if I needed Cynergy for anything else I’d take a hit on the interest rate and put my money elsewhere.
The app ‘unregisters’ itself every time I close it so I have to go through a multi-step 2FA process to get it to work one more time just so I can log in. It’s just terrible; I’ve send feedback to the bank a month ago but they haven’t responded.

Such a load of rubbish
Just opened an account and sent £2 to check everything worked OK. The set up process is unbelievably complicated and just didn’t work. I’ve given up - they can give my £2 to charity!

Absolutely useless
This app is the definition of useless, over complex and a total waste of time. The authenticator only works when it feels like it. There are so many different references to ID, passcode, swapping between mobile and desktop, and it falls over every time you need to use it in a hurry. The moment the interest rate drops on this account I'll move the whole lot somewhere else even though I've been with them for years. There new IT is a total pain in the backside.

Single most shocking app I’ve ever seen
This app, and indeed the entire signup process, is so clunky, bug-ridden and headbangingly frustrating that I’m left completely stunned. Plus it didn’t even work.
It’s as if a few developers got halfway through a beta version fifteen years ago then ran out of money. And the small detail that this is part of a system I’m supposed to use to manage my own money led me to abandon the process entirely.
Add to the above the fact that I subsequently had to phone up to cancel my application and was told I’d have to physically write a letter to request that my personal details are deleted!
First time I’ve ever been moved to write an app review. That’s how angry I am.

Agree with every word of previous review of two years ago. Keep getting alerts on my Apple devise to say unregistered app
