Apple pay has issues
For international customers trying to purchase via Apple pay…don’t bother. It doesn’t go through. Add a credit card instead. Took me like 4 tries to figure that out…but at least I could get to the checkout window (unlike on the desktop website 😅)
Bahncard
It’s is difficult to find the Bahn card discount in the booking ticket ! I needed a chaff we to show me where it was ! In the drop down under passenger, one would think that the BahnCard in the app would automatically apply the 1st class Bahn card 50 to my booking which is kind of the purpose of booking through the app.

Seat Selection
Easy to book a seat, but really hard to tell where you should get on the train on the platform.

Hi もなみみ, the app is available in both German and English. On iOS, DB Navigator uses the language setting configured for the app in your device settings. Please open iPhone Settings → DB Navigator → Language and select English. If English is not available, try adding English under Settings → General → Language & Region first. Your DB Navigator Team
Screenshot your trip
Apps are swapped out routinely as you use your phone, however this app does not remember its state when this happens. Following a three train itinerary with multiple platforms and multiple stops and multiple times? Gone at the worst moment. Screenshot what you need, as Apple design guidelines are ignored.

DB booking

Change of platform less than 10 minutes before arrival
The DB app, the station information boards all agreed for platform 6. The train was late, new arrival 09:03, at 8:57, the platform up dated to platform 8. No way to move 4 people and 4 luggage in that time, we watched our train arrive and depart. This system is terrible.
Multi person booking
When booking for multiple people I found the apps wants me to pay for each person individually and start again for each passenger.
Good features, terrible UI flaws
I appreciate the comprehensive booking options both inside and outside of Germany. But the UI is beyond frustrating. Be prepared to add the same information multiple times when booking several trips and to see your entries vanish because of one careless tap. So many opportunities to make this app better with very little effort.

Nightmare app for nightmare journeys
Overall I would say “avoid German trains at all costs”, but when it comes to the app it completely left us hanging. What was supposed to be a simple one stop journey from Münster to Paris turned into a four stop nightmare and the app just giving up midway telling us that our journey was not possible, even though announcements in the trains guides us forward. After the trip the app generously offered compensation, but not refunding the credit card used for payment. No they want you to provide the details of your bank account. Then after filling in pages of forms the whole thing just gets rejected without any explanations. How do I get my money?

Unsure why, others from my country were able to verify their identity. However, I weirdly wasn’t able to and kept getting a message saying documents from my country weren’t allowed. How could others use them and not me?
Another failed technology
Nowadays, getting on the Internet means, your blood pressure is going to go up. Nothing works. Yesterday I spent more than an hour with customer service trying to buy a ticket and the ultimate result was go down to the station and get one. Today similar result.
Why is it complex?
Ticket selection doesn’t have English translation, why is it so complex? Why are you guys so anal that you guys don’t do transit card directly in Apple wallet? It’s so ridiculous.
Won’t accept birthdate
Good luck. Took me 9 attempts to purchase a ticket. Wanted to blow my brains out.

When trying to log in, system sends an email. Email sometimes arrives but not for hours. So it able to log in and must book tickets as guest.
