Does Not Save Programmed Time and Temps
I just installed this yesterday because my HVAC contractor installed a Rheem RETST800SYS to go with my Rheem furnace and AC. I programmed a schedule for one day, copied it to the other days and it does not save. I did it 2 other times and it did not save. I also adjusted the temp from the app on my iPhone, and it did not update. I had to walk over to the thermostat and do it. The purpose of this is the have it all work from my phone. I’m using the 2.4 Wi-Fi too. Getting ready to contact Rheem for support.

It just gets worse…
Was forced to update my old EcoNet by Rheem app to this new EcoNet app and I’m not sure what changed. Both apps are literally slow and janky. It takes forever to load, the UI is laggy, and the new app literally crashed on me at setup. Just creating a new account was terrible.
I’ve already had to re-download the new app because it wouldn’t go past the sign-in screen and was stuck in a loop as if it was loading…it was definitely not loading. Now I can’t even get past the Add Your First Product setup and it’s doing the same thing with the loading symbol as if something is happening. The combination of this garbage app and the hardware limitation of the thermostat not connecting to my WiFi is driving me nuts.

App is junk and does not work
App is junk and does not work, after regular business hours. Every time I attempt to change the temperature of my water heater it conveniently decides that it wants to revert to a lower temperature I am alerted that I need to contact customer support, however customer support is not open. It miraculously fixes itself in the morning, when customer support is open. This is junk stop tinkering with it and keep it simple

Luke warm water
Sometimes WiFi disconnects and water not heat up. Need to go through the WiFi setup to get it back to work. Disappointed!

The issue with home /away has been an issue for years. If look at reviews you will see the same complaints back as far as 2003 with no update to fix it.
So to avoid the away switching to home via app go to water heater and put in vacation mode directly on the water heater. Only problem is cannot get out of vacation mode through app and must go back to water heater. But at least stays in away mode.
And you also learned that schedule not reliable.
So when all said and done don’t use app.

2.4 …why not current technology
I spent the better part of 1 hour configuring g, reconfiguring , restarts to all my devices , router and mesh network only to find it’s incompatible with current router devices.
Worthless
Since the day we installed our Rheem hot water heater this EcoNet has been worthless. It does not stay in the selected mode. If you put it in AWAY mode it switches itself back to HOME. I tried to thwart this with the SCHEDULE but it broke bumps out of that mode too. Save your money and get a regular hot water heater.

The app is very glitchy. Crashes, functions are not very well thought out. You can do better.
Really useless
Every time I try to use this app, I have to reconnect my water heater. What is the point of a smart heater if I can’t control it when I’m not at home because the app forgot it? Controls are confusing too - I can’t tell if vacation mode is on or off, except by changing a setting and having the app tell me “vacation mode is on.” Just really useless.

Stupid water heater. Never connected
I have a mesh wifi, the stupid water heater never handshake with my iphone. The app keep on spinning and never connects. Let the 'dump' water heater just be a water heater. I fired the smart features.

About half the time the app shows disconnected. Occasionally, I can get it to reconnect, but then it disconnects again. It is not a Wi-Fi problem as thermostat and lights all work normally.
MUST FOR SENIORS
My wife and I are in our late 70’s. The ability to monitor the hot water heater using the app is fantastic. When we travel we save money being able to turn the heater off when leaving and turning it back on before arrive home. In addition, having peace of mind with the water leak sensor to cut off the water supply since our heater is in our basement.

Unreliable
This app is painfully slow over half the times that I try to open it and about 20% of the time it fails to open. Also, when making a change in the thermostat setting, it doesn’t always take effect but appears to have changed only to find out later when I get home the change did not take.
This is nuts
Had to call customer support to get this app working. They helped me through it, but basically it’s super buggy and barely works. We are on starlink in the country so i needed to split the bands 2.4 & 5g apart and make a designated 2.4ghz network.
Standard
The app works perfectly fine as a standard thermostat, but an app that cannot tell you when the system is actually running is very basic.
