Excellent app
New app won’t find Water Heater
Worked great until they forced the switch to this new app. Now my device doesn’t show up and won’t detect.
Jus ok
I’ve had a few problems with the app. It’s been ok lately but sometimes it wouldn’t connect.
Does NOT Work
System keeps disconnecting and it’s not my Internet. For some unknown reason the thermostat will disconnect itself and turn off the WiFi.
Connectivity issues
We’ve had three different routers. We’ve had different Internet companies, and it still won’t connect.
Dumb technology
Not smart. Doesn’t learn. Poor functionality.
Garbage
Basically useless unless you split your network which leaves your network vulnerable. They do that because they haven’t upgraded to match newer WiFi connections. Sadly I have six other devices that have similar restrictions that seem to function fine on my regular WiFi. Three cameras, my door latch, my doorbell, and my oven. EcoNet is a waste of money, and time trying to troubleshoot.

Nightmare
My Rheem water heater is terrible. Proven over and over that it is pure junk
App isn’t working
I replace the last app to this and it only work a few times and now it just keeps loading and doesn’t open.
10 years in
Finally lost an element about 8 years in. Ten years I lost a control board. 12 year warranty and both times they sent me a brand new part and offered to install it. I did it myself, but they would have. It’s brewing again as I type!! Very very good customer service!!
EcoNet App
Easy to use app. Very self intuitive.
Data harvesting and Login Issues
After being kicked off the app it forced me to reset my password. Every time I go to my password manager to get a new password and come back, it forces me to do password reset again. If I go to the password manager in advance and keep the password on the clipboard, it won’t let me paste it. After doing this cycle half a dozen times, I gave up and stopped trying to use a password manager. After inputting a manual password, the app insisted I needed to give it a phone number. When I tapped “later” it logged me out and rate limited me.
I’ve been troubleshooting issues with connectivity and history for the two years I’ve had the Rheem/Econet hardware and app. This is going in the trash. I’d rather put a Raspberry Pi on my wall than this.

Lacking
This lacks so many features on other thermostat apps. Can control jack with this thing.
Does not follow schedule
The schedule function does not work. It goes to the highest set temperature and stays there, even though it says that it is following the schedule. This app is useful only when I want to turn the water heater off when on vacation.
Never works
This is one of the worst app I have ever used. It never actually keeps a schedule and my hot water heater is always turning on when it should be in vacation mode.
Log in process broken
I use the Apple passwords manager to manage unique passwords for apps. This app makes it very difficult to use this app because if you step off of anything to copy or paste or go look up anything in a different app, it makes you send a new code.
Terrible
Moved from "legacy" app. Really dont get the idea of abandon the whole app and ask user to move to the new one. After change my password, I got error immediately saying http request throttled. Seriously, its unpolished software and unfriendly error message.
Overall feels like the management is a total mess, and they might contracted this out to someone who doesn't know anything about the legacy app, so they have to do a new one in a rush.
Gives me a sense how chaos this company is and having no quality control on their software.

Thermostat keeps going dead
Thermostat becomes completely unresponsive black brick screwed to the wall and then we cannot control heatbor AC. The app itself is super glitchy and slow to respond to commands
Difficulties connecting
Installed in 2019 and have the latest update. I have repeatedly had trouble maintaining a wifi connection with my Rheem heat pump water heater. Although it was and remain connected for the first couple of years in the last couple of years, I’ve been unable to reconnect. Disappointing.
New app, no good
I had the old app connected and working for years, but the new app that was forced on us will not link up to the water heater. Lost all WiFi abilities of this expensive water heater that had been working fine for years.
