I’m a rare reviewer

I think this is only the second time I’ve ever reviewed an app in history in my 20 or so years as an Apple account holder and this app was working, barely, yesterday. But today it seems to be fully dysfunctional. It’s such a shame as this was how I was planning to build my schedule today and I can only imagine the amount of artists that are not getting exposure due to a result in poor upkeep of this app. At this point in time it cannot be opened, it claims I have no internet signal and won’t let me see any acts at all.

Works fine!

Easy way to search for shows, save the truly weird ones and buy tickets.

Works much better

I just received an e-mail indicating the app has just been updated. Whereas I sometimes still get the “You’re offline” when I first open the app, in general it’s much improved and I see all my tickets, QR codes, directions, etc. Nice job.

The only small observation is the title on the app store states “Edinburgh Fringe 2025 official”. Maybe want to avoid the year in future?

Where's 2026 update?

This app is still set for 2025. Is there a 2026 version?

Half functionality does not work

Bought a bunch of tickets for 2026. None show up in My planner. Just get a Season has ended message. I also get the offline message It also tells me I’m not a Fringe Friend, when I am. Good grief, the app is useless.

So many bugs, year after year

I attended the Fringe last year and saw the warning “You’re Offline!” so many times when I wasn’t that I wanted to find the face of the man that they used with the warning and make him fix it. I am attending the 2026 Fringe in about 2 weeks and despite repeated deleting and reloading of the app as well as signing in and out, I either only see a countdown clock to the start of the Fringe and no other information OR a quick link to the planner with the first show I’m seeing, but when I go to the planner, it says I have no tickets. My favourites are there but no ticket history. I have confirmed tickets to almost two dozen shows. I’ll just use the web version, where I can see my purchased tickets and my favourites, and skip the headaches. But please try to fix this!

Who would do this?

2026 version is probably the worst app I’ve ever used.
Goes offline, inexplicably switches to the countdown page with no way to get back to homepage, unable to buy tickets as dates don’t appear for the shows etc etc.
Frustrating and just awful

So unbelievably useless

Every time I open the app it just gets stuck on the countdown page and doesn’t let me buy tickets let alone lets me scroll through the fringe shows. Have to do it all through the website instead.

Appalling

Definitely the most unreliable app on my phone. Went to book tickets today and nothing works. Cant get dates , times or buy tickets. Waste of time. Contacted
Fringe office and they don’t care!

Woeful is an understatement

Another year goes by and it’s as unusable as ever. Shockingly embarrassing offering.

Why can’t I book tickets on it?

See above

Very poor

I’ve returned to my app ahead of this year’s festival to find the landing page won’t let me search shows or look through the ones I’ve already booked. If the Fringe Society can afford a new building, then surely they can afford to fix their terrible app.

Probably the worst app in the history of apps

A cruelly awful app. Of thousands of shows of varying quality across August, each year you can be near guaranteed that the Fringe app will be the worse thing you see.

It’s such an awful experience. Wildly erratic search results, inexplicably frequent claims that “you appear to be offline” (I mutter “I hate you” each time I click ‘try again’), and the cheek to take a service charge for the miserable experience.

There is no innovation here. I’ve been booking Fringe shows for literally decades. Can the app do anything useful with this deep mine of useful data? Perhaps even tell me a performer I like is returning again? Nope.

Each year I near August in hope. Maybe this will be the year the Fringe app works. It’s the hope that kills you. It will never be good.

Awful app

Truly shocking app, hasn’t improved since last year! Get it sorted before the Fringe starts!

As good as a chocolate fire guard

Can't buy tickets, can't see any shows, can't get past the survey page. Absolutely useless.

Bizarre how bad this app is

For a show as big as the Fringe you’d think they be up on their IT Game. Sadly it seems not with my app permanently in “offline mode” and my tickets not available despite being logged in

Useless

Very disappointing. Was asked to select my genres of interest. Then do a survey. And then nothing - cant get past that page? Absolute waste of time!!

Utterly useless

For such an internationally famous festival this app is totally unusable. The website’s not much better. It crashed every time i opened it.

So bloody annoying

God this app is so irritating. Works well when it works. But the constant needing to refresh when there’s apparently no internet connection???!!?! Please fix this for next year, it’s driving us all up the wall. Sincerely, Edinburgh resident x
