I just bought this to replace a 20 year old diqi-q that I left out in the rain and I have no idea how it is supposed to work. Got it connected, updated, etc., and the app screens are different than shown here.. all I have are devices, history, and account. So no where to start a new cook and get it to do anything. Complete waste of $250.

Just updated - STILL Buggy
Can’t believe that after a half dozen updates over past couple months for ’stability’ still leaves an app that forgets about a cook underway and starts a new cook everyone I leave the app or my iPhone locks. If lucky, it is still connected to my cooker and I can select the current cook from the history tab. If unlucky, most of the time, the device shows not connected. I have to close the app and restart the app. It quickly sees the controller and connects. I then select the book from history and I’m up and running again until I set my phone down.

Do not update
Update broke my device, it no longer reads pit temperature. Was mid cook and things working perfectly, update applied automatically and even with a spare brand new probe, the device won’t read
Never connects
It’s a good piece of kits when it works. Unfortunately it drops connection and ‘device can’t be found’ each time you take it out to cook. Zero from me
Save Your Money and Frustrations
This Egg Genius is a POS - it is a hassle every time I use it since the beginning. Constantly having to add it back to the app and never works. Do not depend on this if you plan on smoking.
